Description

The invention relates to a clampable closure with a drinking or pouring opening for beverage cans or the like, which consists of a plate which is provided with a spout, with clamping tongues on the plate on its side facing the can during use and a sealing element surrounding the can opening are arranged. Closures of this type can also be used for cups and the like. used as well as for cans with other liquids, e.g. Motor oil.

Such clampable closures for beverage cans are known, for example from German utility model 79 14 471. However, the known closures have the disadvantage that they sometimes do not sit completely tight on the beverage can and therefore cause difficulties when pouring or drinking from the can. This disadvantage arises from the fact that the can lid, which usually consists of very thin sheet metal, can bend, so that the sealing element, which is arranged on the underside of the known closure plates, does not lie completely snugly on the surface of the can lid.

The invention has the object of further developing the reserved k annten clampable closures for beverage cans so that they can be better fitted sealingly onto the cans. The solution to this problem results from the characterizing part of claim 1. Further advantageous refinements of the basic concept are laid down in claims 2-5.

As is apparent from the wording of claim 1, the invention consists in the fact that the sealing element forms a double chamber system, with a part of the sealing element surrounding the pouring opening in a manner known per se and a further part surrounding the edge of the plate. Such a double chamber syster acts in a similar way to a labyrinth seal and prevents liquid from escaping to the outside. Even if the inner seal of this double chamber system leaks due to the deflection of the can lid, the outer seal is still sufficient to prevent the liquid from escaping to the outside. This is all the more so since the deflection of the can lid is not noticeable in the outer seal, since the amount of deflection from the lid interior to the edge of the lid is always reduced.

In a further embodiment of the invention, it is proposed that the height of the sealing element in the part which surrounds the pouring opening is lower than in the outer part, so that the outer part can engage in the cover groove of the can when in use. In this embodiment, it is taken into account that beverage cans usually have a channel that is curved toward the inside of the can near the outer edge of the lid. The outer seal of the double chamber system should engage in this channel and form a tight seal there.

The proposed clamp closure is usually made of plastic, preferably a thermoplastic such as polyethylene, polypropylene or the like. produced. The sealing element can be molded on at the same time or it is preferably manufactured as a separate component and subsequently inserted into channels which are formed on the underside of the closure plate or molded into it. In this case, it is proposed that the sealing element consist of a single continuous piece which is inserted into the above-mentioned channels. The sealing element can consist of a softer, elastic material, for example also polyethylene.

In another embodiment, the sealing element consists of several separate pieces, which are also inserted into the channels already mentioned. Which of the two embodiments is chosen depends on the individual circumstances.

In order to achieve a completely tight fit of the closure on the beverage can, it is important that the closure is arranged in the correct position for the pouring opening of the can. In order to ensure this, it is proposed that one or more guide pins are formed on the plate in the interior of the sealing chamber which surrounds the pouring opening of the can, in the immediate vicinity of this pouring opening. The location of these guide pins must already take into account the construction of the beverage can on which the closure is to be used. It is of course different whether this closure, as is usually the case today, is teardrop-shaped or - as in various foreign countries - circular or similar is designed.

  • Fig. 1 eine Unteransicht (I-I) des Verschlusses;
  • Fig. 2 einen Querschnitt entlang der Linie II-II der Fig. 1.
The invention is explained below with reference to the accompanying drawings. They represent:
  • Figure 1 is a bottom view (II) of the closure.
  • F ig. 2 shows a cross section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.

The closure is designated 1 as a whole in the drawing. It consists of a plate 2, which can have, for example, the shape shown in FIG. 1, but which can also deviate from this shape. The plate is equipped with a grommet 3, which is arranged above an opening 4. This spout, which is known per se, is used for pouring out the contents of the can or for drinking directly. The spout can be equipped at its upper end with a taper 5, on which a cover, not shown in the drawing, can be clamped. Of course, other closure options of the spout are also possible.

The plate 2 is shown in FIG. 1 from the underside, that is to say the side facing the socket 16 when the can is used. It can be seen that the plate has clamping tongues 6 and 6 'on this side, with the aid of which the plate can be clamped on the box 16 or on its bead 19. In addition, a sealing element 7 is arranged on this side of the plate, which is designed so large that it surrounds the can opening 17 when using the closure.

In the closure shown in Fig. 1, the sealing element 7; 7 'forms a double chamber system 8; 8', a part 9 of the sealing element in a known manner Pouring opening 4 and another part 10 surrounds the edge of the plate. The two parts 9 and 10 of the sealing element preferably form a single coherent piece which is inserted into channels which are formed on the underside of the plate 2. These channels are formed by rail-like elevations, which are designated 11, 12, 13 and 14 in the drawing. In another embodiment, not shown in the drawing, the arrangement can also be such that the sealing element 7 consists of several separate pieces, which are also inserted in channels which are integrally formed on the plate 2. The only difference is that in the illustrated embodiment the sealing element forms a single piece and in the other case described consists of several assembled pieces.

In a preferred embodiment, the height of the sealing element 7 in part 9, which surrounds the pouring opening 4, is lower than in part 10. This embodiment has the consequence that the part 10 can engage in the dome channel 18 of the can 16 during use and thus to leads to a particularly good seal.

As already said, it is important for the perfect sealing of the closure piece on the can 16 that the closure 1 is fastened in the correct position on the can 16. To ensure this in each case, a guide pin 15 is arranged in the interior of the double chamber 8 in the immediate vicinity of the pouring opening 4. Instead of the one guide pin, several can also be provided, the arrangement always being such that the closure 1 can only be clamped onto the can 16 in a single position. This guide pin (or the guide pins) are formed on the underside of the plate 2, so that they can never be moved on the can 16 for a given plate, since they engage in the can opening 17 (Fig. 2).
