Abstract

A hearing aid has a housing insertable into the auditory canal, wherein the housing contains at least a microphone, an amplifier, an earpiece and a power source. In instruments of this kind it has turned out to be desirable to have, in addition to the usual volume control, an additional control for varying the way the incoming sound signals are influenced by the amplifier (i.e. its characteristic) to adapt to individual hearing impairments. For this purpose the hearing aid provides in the housing space for the battery a pitch control in such a manner that its actuating member can be operated at least when the power source is removed from the instrument. This makes it possible to reduce the space requirement for the pitch control so that even hearing aids insertable into the auditory canal can contain such an additional control.

Description

Wenigstens weitgehend in den Ohrkanal einführbare Hörgeräte sind etwa bekannt aus der GB-A 2 070 890.The invention relates to a hearing aid according to the preamble of claim 1. Hearing aids which can at least largely be inserted into the ear canal are known, for example, from GB-A 2 070 890.

Especially in the case of the so-called canal hearing aids that can be inserted into the ear canal, the installation space for the individual parts of the hearing aid is extremely limited. The arrangement of the individual parts is very important. In a device according to the GB-A mentioned above, the largest component, i.e. the power source (battery or rechargeable battery), stored in a recess in the outer wall, which closes the housing to the outside in order to maintain the location for it, which usually has the largest diameter in the ear canal. Since this large diameter usually does not go very deep, the arrangement of the power source with its surface parallel to the end wall was chosen. However, a swivel cover is used so that a smooth outer surface is achieved. However, this has the disadvantage that only slight possibilities of attack are available for pulling the device out of the ear. On the other hand, there is not enough space to be able to attach an additional control in addition to the usual volume control, which allows the amplification characteristics of the device to be adapted to individual hearing loss, etc.

In devices known from US-A 2 987 584, a hinged cover is used for the mounting space of the power source. When this lid is open, it can serve as a handle for pulling the device out of the ear. Deviating from the above-mentioned solution, it is not possible to clamp the power source in the housing in a channel hearing aid because this holder on the one hand takes up space and on the other hand it is very difficult to remove the power source located in the housing. In other solutions, for example from EP-A 0 085 032, one has therefore refrained from holding the battery in the housing; this means that the power source can be lost when the device is removed from the cover. On the other hand, no adjustment of the amplifier characteristic is possible with this configuration either. The installation of an additional actuator to regulate the amplifier characteristics was only impractical and space-consuming in previous channel hearing aids. E.g. In the device known from US-A 3598928, in addition to the battery drawer, an additional opening on the housing, which is located away from the battery receiving space, is required in order to adjust the variable resistance stored in the interior of the hearing aid with a screwdriver. The additional opening takes up an unnecessarily large amount of space. It is also impractical that the opening must be exactly centered with respect to the actuator located in the interior of the hearing aid housing and a further hole in a printed circuit board, and that the actuator should only be threaded through the opening into the invisible slot of the set screw after the intricate opening of the screwdriver Stellers can be adjusted.

The invention has for its object to provide an arrangement of the components in a hearing aid according to the preamble of claim 1, which is space-saving and enables the practical accommodation of an additional actuator. This object is achieved by the features mentioned in the characterizing part of the aforementioned claim.

By using a hinged lid as a closure of the battery installation space and also by lowering the lid into the surface of the device, the possibility is created to accommodate the actuator of an adapter in this room. This is mainly due to the fact that the installation space protrudes into the device, so that there is space on its wall for attaching the actuator of an adapter. A particularly favorable attachment, in particular for operation, is achieved by tilting the actuating element, because this can then be achieved particularly cheaply from the opening of the battery installation space. Space-saving installation can also be done by attaching the adapter itself to one of the contact springs on the amplifier. This ensures that without enlarging the faceplate, even with very small canal hearing aids, i.e. Those that largely disappear in the ear canal, additional controls can be used.

Further details and advantages of the invention are explained below using the exemplary embodiments shown in the figures.

in der Figur 4 in einem schematischen Schaltbild das Zusammenwirken derTeile, undin Figure 4 in a schematic circuit diagram the interaction of the parts, and

in der Figur 5 ist eine in Richtung der Andeutung V-V in Figur 1 gesehene, teilweise aufgebrochene Darstellung des Einbaues eines Anpassstellers in den Batterieraum dargestellt.FIG. 5 shows a partially broken away view of the installation of an adapter in the battery compartment, seen in the direction of the hint V-V in FIG. 1.

In FIG. 1, 1 denotes the housing made of plastic, which is modeled on the shape of the ear canal in which it is to be used. It therefore has the shape of an irregular cone, on the large surface of which a lid 2 of a battery installation space, a rotary knob 3 of a volume control and an opening 4 for the entry of sound into the device can be recognized. In the lid 2 shown open in the illustration of Figure 2 are in Nern of the housing 1 contacts 5 and 6 and the actuator 7.1 of an adjuster 7 can be seen. On the inside of the cover there is a battery 8 which is bound to the cover 2 by a holder 9 adapted to the shape of this battery 8. The holder 9 has, in addition to the bowl-shaped lower part, two tab-shaped lugs 11 and 12 which, at a distance from one another designated by 13, continue the part 10 over the surface of the battery and are bent towards the cover 2, so that they are inserted when the battery is inserted 8 clamp in the holder 9 and hold the battery 8. On its hinge secured with a pin 14, the cover 2 can be folded. For better handling, the cover 2 has an extension 15 opposite the hinge, which, as can be seen in FIG. 1, protrudes from the large area of the housing 1.

The mode of operation of the device can be seen from FIGS. 3 and 4. Through the speech opening 4, sound reaches a microphone 20, where it is converted into electrical signals, which then reach an amplifier 22 via lines 21. This amplifier 22 is powered by the battery 8 and its volume can be changed by the volume control 3. A network 23 is also assigned to the amplifier, with which the desired pitch of the signals to be transmitted can be set on the adapter 7 by means of its actuating element 7.1 which is attached to the spring of the contact 6 in the installation space of the battery. A receiver 24 is provided for the audible output of the sound signals, from which sound can be emitted to the ear via a channel 25. The device is switched on by closing the cover 2, the contacts 5 and 6 of the amplifier 22 attacking the battery. The contact 6 enters the space 13 between the resilient mounting tabs 11 and 12, while the second contact 5 engages the circumference of the battery 8.
