Description

To form the preamble of claim 1, the prior art according to the previously published FR-A 1 319286 has been used. This document shows a container lid made of two layers, both of which are made of metal, plastic or fiber material, or are combined from such materials. The two layers are only partially connected to each other, limited areas remain unconnected. In such an unconnected area, a grip tab is cut free by a score line in the outer layer. The two layers of the cover are connected to one another after the outer layer has been formed and the line of weakness has been cut into it.

Such a known cover is difficult to manufacture, since the layers which are already formed and provided with a line of weakness and which have only a small thickness are very unstable, and for this reason it is very difficult to bring the two layers into position for connection.

In contrast, the invention has for its object to provide a container lid with a tear-open part, which allows easy tearing and tearing open, and which can be manufactured in a simple manner.

This object is achieved in the generic container lid by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.

Vorteile der Erfindung:Advantages of the invention:

The container lid according to the invention has the advantage that it can be easily formed from a multilayer material on the market. The individual layers of this multi-layer material are coordinated in such a way that a high level of tightness and strength of the container lid is achieved and the contents, for example acidic juices, are not influenced by the packaging material.

The container lid according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim also has the advantage that, despite the weakened metallic barrier layer in the start area, the tightness of the container is ensured, since the inner sealing layer made of plastic covers the weakened barrier layer, and the sealing layer itself during the weakening process of the metallic barrier layer suffered no damage due to the elasticity of the plastic.

The measures listed in the subclaims permit advantageous developments of the container lid mentioned in the main claim. The container lid according to the invention can be produced in large numbers and in a simple manner by a method with the characterizing features of claim 6.

Two embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawings and explained in more detail in the following description. 1 shows the upper part of a container with a first embodiment of a lid in a diagrammatic representation, FIG. 2 shows a part of the container lid according to FIG. 1 in cross section in the plane 11-11 of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows the upper part of a container with a second one Exemplary embodiment of a lid in a diagrammatic representation and FIG. 4 a part of the container lid according to FIG. 3 in cross section in the plane IV-IV of FIG. 3.

Beschreibung der AusführungsbeispieleDescription of the embodiments

A packaging container with a body 10 made of a multilayer packaging material is closed at its upper opening with a lid 11 which has an easy-to-use opening device for removing the contents. The fuselage 10 and the lid 11 have a plan in the form of a square with rounded corners. The cover 11 has a U-shaped edge fold 12 which engages around the opening edge of the fuselage 10 and is sealed or welded to it. It is formed by deep drawing or deep drawing.

A multilayer composite material is used for the production of the cover 11, which has an outer layer 14 made of plastic, a middle layer 15 made of metal, preferably aluminum, and an inner layer 16 made of a heat-sealable plastic. The individual layers can be connected to one another by means of a lamination adhesive. The outer layer 14, which gives the lid its stiffness and strength as a support layer, is about 100 to 400 gm, preferably 200 microns thick and consists of a thermoplastic such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyester (PETP), polystyrene (PS), polycarbonate (PC) or the like. The middle layer 15, which contributes to a high tightness and gas barrier of the cover 11, consists of an aluminum or steel foil with a thickness of 20 to 40 μm. The inner layer 16, which is used for heat sealing or welding to the fuselage 10 and acts as an insulating layer, has a thickness of about 50 gm and is made of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) or polyester (PETP).

The opening device in the cover 11 has a removable tear-open part 20 which is surrounded by a line of weakness 21. The tear-open part 20 can have various shapes, for example a teardrop shape, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, a circular area for inserting a drinking straw or also a full tear-open area adapted to the lid level. In addition, the cover can also have a second tear-open part, which serves to form a ventilation opening.

The line of weakness 21 is formed in the carrier layer 14 of the cover 11 as a notch 22 which passes through the carrier layer 14 completely or almost completely. The notch 22 is preferably made by melting and displacing the Plastic of the carrier layer 14 is formed in the region of the weakening line 21 by means of a heated notching tool.

In order to reduce the resistance to tearing of the tear-open part 20, the middle, metallic barrier layer 15 in register with the notch 22 is also weakened in the start section 27, which is provided at the narrow end of the tear-shaped tear-open part 20 in the exemplary embodiments shown. In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, the weakening of the barrier layer 15 is designed as a thinning 41 of the barrier layer 15 in the starting section 27 by stretching. Such a thinning 41 in register with the notch 22 is effected by moving or displacing the tear-open part 20 relative to the adjacent part of the cover 11 transversely to the plane of the cover by means of a stamp. The displacement path is dimensioned such that the metallic barrier layer 15 is plastically stretched and the adjacent sealing layer 16 is stretched in the elastic region. A weakening of the barrier layer 15 can also be achieved by pressing, for example in the case of notching the carrier layer by means of a non-planar tool or by means of a base of different hardness.

If the tear-open part 20 is displaced to a greater extent relative to the remaining part of the cover 11, to the extent that the plastic expansion range of the metallic barrier layer 15 is exceeded, the barrier layer 15 breaks in register with the notch 22, while the more elastic sealing layer expands 16 made of plastic. After the stamp has been removed, the built-up tensions of the sealing layer 16 partially pull back the tear-open part 20, but the break 42 of the metallic barrier layer 15 is retained, as is shown in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4. In the manner described, the barrier layer 15 can be weakened or broken not only in the start section 27 of the tear-open part 20 but also in the entire extent of the notch 22. In order to close the fracture gap 42 of the barrier layer 15 again as far as possible so that the lid maintains a high level of tightness, the offset tear-open part 20 can be pushed back into the plane of the cover mirror, so that the flanks of the fracture 42 lie against one another.

In order to tear the tear-open part 20 out of the cover 11, a grip tab 25 is fastened in its start section 27. The grip tab 25 is preferably welded or glued to the outer carrier layer 14 of the tear-open part 20 at 43. In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the grip tab 45, which consists of a thermoplastic or a plastic / metal laminate, covers the tear-open part 20 and is outside of the notch 22 with the upper side of the carrier layer 14 of the cover 11 by one closed sealed seam 47 connected. A grip tab 45 sealed in this way outside the notch 22 in a narrow contour on the top of the cover compensates for the loss of gas tightness in the area of the break 42 of the barrier layer 15. The strength of the sealing seam 47 is set lower than that of the connection 46 between the grip tab 45 and the tear-open part 20 The different strengths of the seals 46 and 47, by means of which a slight peeling of the grip tab 45 from the lid 11 outside the tear-open part 20 and a firm connection between the grip tab 45 and the start section 27 of the tear-open part 20 are achieved, are selected by the choice of different sealing parameters such as Temperature, pressure, time or material change in the surface of the cover 11 and / or grip tab 45 inside or outside the weakening line 21 is achieved, for example, by localized application of heat sealants with a connection-increasing or weakening effect.

A composite material with three layers is specified above for the production of a cover according to the invention. The use of composite materials with a different structure is also possible within the scope of the invention.
