Description

The invention relates to an electrical switch or button of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1.

Switches that are protected against the ingress of water are required for certain applications. Waterproof switches are both equipped with an operating rocker, e.g. in the design as a so-called switch, as well as with two rockers, e.g. known as a so-called series switch or double changeover switch.

From DE-A-2 749 829 an electrical switch with two large actuation rockers is known, the switching device housed in the interior of a housing is essentially protected against the ingress of water by means of a membrane. An outer region of the diaphragm is fixed between a lower housing part and an upper housing part, whereas an inner region overhangs the rocker switches of the switching device like a hood. In this known switch it is disadvantageous that the membrane is not designed as a closed surface. The membrane has, in particular, circular holes which are closed only after penetration by countersunk pins formed on the actuating rockers and engaging in the recessed openings of the switching rockers. With this configuration, the penetration of moisture into the switching device is still possible, in particular since the edges of the membrane holes and the outer sides of the countersunk pins can be moved relative to one another. The membrane there is also not elastic. The consequence of this is that mutual influencing of the switching positions of the switching device triggered by the respective actuation rockers cannot be ruled out.

The invention is therefore based on the object, while avoiding the above disadvantages, of specifying a watertight switch or button with two large actuation rockers, in which two mutually independent switching functions can be carried out.

This object is achieved by a switch with the features of claim 1.

Ausgestaltungen sind in den Untersprüchen angegeben.Refinements are specified in the subclauses.

The invention has the advantage that the required watertightness is ensured with a single membrane which has a closed surface and covers the entire switching device, and yet two mutually independent switching functions can be carried out.

The proposed solution with pins that are snapped onto the usual paddle shifters has the advantage that switching devices from series production can be used. For large quantities, however, the production of pins and rocker switch in one part can be useful.

An embodiment is shown in the drawing and will be described below.

Fig. 1 shows a lower housing part 1 for a switching device (eg series switch) 12, of which only one of two rocker switches 5 is shown, a housing cover 2, one of the two large actuating rockers 3, a membrane 4 and one of the two pins 6, which the shift paddles 5 are attached and fastened by means of locking lugs 7. The rocker switch 5 and the pin 6 do not have to be produced as parts which can be plugged together, as shown, but can also consist of one part.

The membrane 4 covers the switching device 12 including the rocker switches 5 together with the pin 6 and is inserted between the lower housing part 1 and the housing cover 2.

The actuating rockers 3 each have a bracket-shaped mounting 10 (shown in FIG. 2) and two resilient locking webs 8. The actuating rockers 3 are snapped onto the pins 6 by means of the spring-loaded latching webs 8, so that a positive connection is created between the actuating rockers 3, membrane 4, pin 6 and switching rockers 5. The actuating rockers 3 are also attached with their fork-shaped bearing 10 to the bearing journal 13 (FIG. 2) of the housing cover 2. The bearing pins 13 formed on the housing cover 2 cannot be seen in the sectional view of FIG. 1. They lie on the same theoretical axis 9 as the shift paddle bearing 5.1.

Damit wird eine reibungsarme Berührung der Betätigungswippen 3 erreicht.FIG. 2 shows a side view of one of the actuating rockers 3, on the outer wall 11 of which the fork-shaped bearing 10 is arranged. The resilient locking webs 8 are arranged in the center region of the underside of each actuating rocker 3. On the edge facing the respective adjacent rocker switch 3, a first contact surface 3.1 is formed with a slight increase. A low-friction contact of the actuating rockers 3 is thus achieved.

Fig. 3 shows the front view of an operating rocker 3, which can be moved about the axis 9. In addition to the first contact surface 3.1 on the edge side facing an adjacent rocker switch 3, the side facing the housing cover 2 is shown in FIG. 2. A second contact surface 3.2 is provided in the area of the bearing 10 on the outer wall 11.

The membrane 4 is in Fig. 4 in the front view and in Fig. 5 in section along the section line AB (see Fig. 4). The membrane 4 must be shaped accordingly and be sufficiently elastic so as not to impair the function of the switching device 12.

This ensures that the membrane 4 can twist somewhat with different rocking positions of the two rockers 3. A mutual influencing of the switching positions of the switching device 12 triggered by the respective actuation rockers 3 acting via the membrane is thus largely excluded.

With the thicker outer area 4.2, the membrane 4 lies between the contact surfaces of the lower housing part 1 and the housing cover 2. By means of a bead 4.1 on the edge of the outer area 4.2, the membrane 4 is guided into recesses in the housing cover 2. Holes 4.4 are also provided in the outer area 4.2, through which screws for fastening the housing cover 2 are guided on the lower housing part 1. In the area of the holes 4.4, support surfaces are provided both on the lower housing part 1 and on the housing cover 2, so that water tightness is also achieved in the area of the screw bushing by pressing the membrane 4.

The thin-walled inner region 4.3 is hood-shaped with cusps 4.5 corresponding to the shape of the pin 6. The hood-shaped inner region 4.3 is designed somewhat higher than the height of the rocker switches 5 with pins 6 corresponds. Only after the actuating rockers 3 have been snapped on does the membrane 4 lie directly against the pin 6 in the area of the cusps 4.5. The upper edge 4.6 of the hood-shaped inner region 4.3 then protrudes somewhat in comparison to the upper edge of the rocker switches 5. This creates sufficient space for the movement of the rocker switches 5. This can be seen in the illustration in FIG. 1.
