Abstract

Upholstered furniture for transferring a person between a sitting position and a lying position, in which a seating member can be extracted forward out of a stationary base. The seating member has a chassis that is supported so that it can roll. A seating frame is positioned on top and forms a covering. A backrest has two members connected so that they can be swung relative to each other. The rear backrest member is pivoted on the bottom framework, and the front backrest member is connected to the seating frame by catch linkages.

Description

The invention relates to furniture which can be transferred from the sitting to the lying position and vice versa, in particular upholstered furniture, such as an armchair, sofa or the like, with a seat part which can be pulled out from the stationary base or base frame in the extended state and forms part of the lying surface.

Such furniture can be used both for sitting and lying due to its ability to transform and are becoming increasingly popular. Especially in second homes or holiday apartments, but also in guest rooms or smaller main apartments, these practical pieces of furniture can be found more and more frequently because they are full when the seat part is pushed in represent valuable space-saving seating furniture, but on the other hand can be transformed into a fully-fledged recliner for resting and sleeping by pulling out the seat part.

Known seat-reclining furniture, however, generally have relatively complicated mechanisms with the aid of which the furniture is converted from one form of use to the other. In most cases, considerable effort is required when converting the furniture, the parts that can be displaced and displaced relative to one another become canted or even jammed. Often two people are required to be able to convert the furniture at all, which requires special knowledge of the people. The insertion of the seat part is particularly difficult because the pivot axes lie between the individual hinged parts in one plane, so that the insertion force passes through the pivot axes and a dead center position occurs.

The object of the invention is to improve a piece of furniture specified in the preamble of claim 1 to the extent that easy conversion of the piece of furniture from one form of use to the other is possible without special knowledge being required for this. The mechanism used should be designed in such a way that it does not lead to malfunctions, does not require any major forces and has a long service life. The object of the invention is above all to create a piece of furniture of the type mentioned, which both comfortable sitting in the sitting position 'or. one or more intermediate positions as well as comfortable resting and sleeping in the lying position with a sufficiently large length of the lying surface.

To solve this problem, the characterizing part of claim 1 specifies features for the embodiment of the invention. In the further claims, advantageous and beneficial further developments are claimed for the task solution.

In the invention, therefore, a two-part backrest is provided, the two parts of which are connected to one another in an articulated manner, preferably via scissor joints arranged on both sides. The rear backrest part is pivotally attached to the underframe, while the front backrest part is pivotally connected to the seat frame part. This seat frame part forms the cover or the cover of a bed box or a chassis which is supported on a rollable basis and can be pulled out or pushed in from the stationary base frame. The seat frame part is lashed to the bed box or chassis via swivel bracket pairs provided on both sides and constructed in the manner of quadrilaterals. The pivotable articulation of the front backrest part on the seat frame part takes place via latching joints arranged on both sides, which allow the seat frame part to be pivoted upward, but lock in a certain or more specific pivot positions when the seat frame part is pivoted back, so that the front backrest part is now pivoted back by the latched joints is taken and swung up. In this way, the seat part can be pushed in without difficulty, the two backrest parts folding up and resulting in the actual backrest in the sitting position. After swiveling up the seat frame part, the bed box is also easily accessible so that bedding etc. can be removed easily.

  • FIG. 7 the locking joint in the position corresponding to FIG. 5, FIGS. 6 and 7 each showing broken representations.

As can be seen in particular in FIGS. 1 and 2, the furniture, for example in the form of a two-seat sofa, consists of a stationary base frame 2, which is supported on the floor on the feet 1, and a seat part 4, which is supported by rollers or rollers 3 and which, according to double arrow A can be pulled out of or inserted into the base frame 2. The seat part 4 is guided by telescopic rails indicated at 5 in or on the base frame 2.

The timber has a two-part backrest 6, whose rear part is pivotally 7 (hinge 8) connected to the base frame 2 and is pivotally connected to the front backrest component 1 0 on both sides arranged scissor joints. 9 Each scissor joint 9 is designed approximately as a double parallelogram and has a symmetrical design. The scissor joints 9 are each articulated with the pivot levers 11 and 12, which are pivotally connected to one another at 13, on the rear part 7 and / or on the front backrest part 10, while the free ends of the pivot levers 11, 12 are connected via coupling links 14 and 15 are articulated on the two backrest parts 7 and 10. The arrangement and design of the scissor joints 9 and the two backrest parts 7 and 1o is made such that the upper edges of the backrest parts 7, 1o are close to each other and remain together when the two parts 1 0 and 7 are pivoted. The scissor joints 9 therefore have a hinge function.

The roll-supported seat part 4 consists essentially of a chassis or bed box 16, on the underside of which the rollers 3 are arranged, and a seat frame 17, which at the same time forms a cover or cover for the bed box 16. Both the seat frame 17 as well as the two backrest parts 7 and 1 0 are formed as slats or take a respective slatted on, as shown particularly in Fig. 2 to erken is. While the rear backrest part 7, as already mentioned, is pivotally articulated on the underframe 2, the front backrest part 1o is pivotally connected to the seat frame 17. Namely, locking joints 18 are provided on both sides, to which in connection with FIGS. 6 and 7 will be discussed in more detail. The attachment of the seat frame 17 is carried by the bed box 16 via likewise arranged on both sides of the pivot tab pairs 19, 2 0, which are formed in the manner of four-bar linkages, and which will be explained also in more detail in connection with Fig. 6 and 7.

Upholstery pads 21 are provided on the seat frame 17, the front backrest part 10 and the rear backrest part 7, which are indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1. Furthermore, both stops are arranged on the base frame 2 as well as on the seat part 4, which come into positive contact with one another one after the other, so that different positions of the furniture - sitting position and at least one intermediate position called the relax position - are locked and fixed. An intermediate position, in which the seat part is pulled out of the base frame 2 by a certain amount, is shown in FIG. 1, while the seat position is shown in FIG. 3 with the seat part 4 fully inserted. In this sitting position, the two backrest parts 7 and 10 are erected and lie approximately back to back. A lying position in which the two backrest parts 7 and 10 come to lie one behind the other approximately in the plane of the seat frame 17 is shown schematically in FIG. 4. It should also be noted that the rear backrest part 7 is extended downwards beyond the hinge 8, so that in the lying position there is a sufficiently large lying surface with large length dimensions without the seat depth in the sitting position or the height of the backrest being chosen too large must become.

Between the hinge parts 22, 23, a latching rod 26 with latching teeth 27 is pivotally mounted on the hinge part 23. The articulated part 22 carries a locking pin 28 which, with the locking and locking of the two articulated parts 22, 23 and thus the parts 17 and 10, comes into active engagement between the locking teeth 27. The locking rod 26 is still connected to a cover, not shown, which only releases the locking teeth 27 in one pivoting direction according to arrow B in FIG. 6, i.e. during a folding movement in which the seat frame 17 is pivoted toward the front backrest part 1o while in the opposite pivoting direction after the seat frame 17 has been completely raised, the cover is pivoted over the locking teeth, so that the locking pin 28 slides along the locking rod 26.

The seat frame 17, which at the same time forms the cover for the bed box 16, is articulated on both sides via the pair of swivel brackets 19, 20 on the bed box 16. As can be clearly seen in FIGS. 6 and 7, the two swivel brackets 19 and 20 are arranged in such a way that they are inclined towards the front backrest part 10 in the sitting position. The two articulation points 29 and 3o of the swivel brackets 19, 2o on the seat frame 17 lie closer together than the two articulation points 31 and 32 on the bed box 16, so that the two swivel brackets 19, 2o enclose an upward converging angle with one another. In addition, it should be pointed out that the front swing plate 19 is longer than the rear pivot link plate 2 0th The swivel brackets 19 and 2o are expediently articulated directly on the joint part 22 of the latching joint 18, so that they form a unit together with the latching g -link, with a connection running between the pivot points 31 and 32 of the brackets 19, 20o tab 33 is provided. This connecting bracket 33 is fastened to the bed box 16, possibly via a reinforcing strip 34 arranged on the bed box 16. By designing the latching joint 18 and the associated swivel brackets 19, 20 as a unit, all pivot points are largely fixed.

Fig. 7).
Let us now briefly look at how the furniture works:
  • By pulling the seat part 4 forward according to arrow C in FIG. 3, the furniture is transferred from the sitting position shown in FIG. 3 via an intermediate position shown in FIG. 1 to the lying position shown in FIG. 4, in which the two back frame parts 7 and 1o are stretched one behind the other in a plane and together with the seat frame 17 lying approximately in the same plane form the lying surface. The two frame parts 7 and 10 abut each other practically without gaps; the longer design of the rear frame part 7 results in a sufficiently large length of the lying surface. By pivoting the seat frame 17 (arrow D in Fig. 4), the interior of the bed box 16 is accessible so that the bedding, etc. can be removed. Bpi this pivoting up of the seat frame 17, the locking bolt 28 slides along the correspondingly inclined locking teeth 27. In the pivoted-up position of the seat frame 17, the cover, not shown, is shifted over the locking teeth, so that the seat frame can be pivoted downwards again from this upper position to rest on the bed box 16. If the furniture is now to be moved from the lying position back to the sitting position, the seat frame 17 is only raised by a certain angle according to arrow D, up to a first latching step at which the latching pin 28 comes to rest between two latching teeth 27. If the seat frame 17 is now pivoted downward from this position shown in FIG. 5 according to arrow E until it reaches the position shown in broken lines, the front back frame becomes Part 1o and thus also the rear part 7 is pivoted upward via the scissor joints, which are not shown here, until they assume the position also shown in broken lines in FIG. 5. At the same time, the seat frame 17 is lifted off the bed box 16 by the swivel brackets 19, 20 (see FIG. 7). In this position of the individual parts shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG. 5, the seat part 4 can now be pushed into the base frame 2 without difficulty according to arrow F, the back parts 7 and 10 being raised further until the seat position or one or more intermediate positions is reached will. The intermediate positions as well as the seated position are determined by the stops, not shown, which can be disengaged by slightly lifting the seat frame.
