The rear backrest member is pivoted on the bottom framework, and the front backrest member is connected to the seating frame by catch linkages.

Description

The invention relates to furniture which can be transferred from the sitting to the lying position and vice versa, in particular upholstered furniture, such as an armchair, sofa or the like, with a seat part which can be pulled out from the stationary base or base frame in the extended state and forms part of the lying surface, the Seat part consisting essentially of a roll-supported chassis or bed box and a seat frame arranged on its top, forming the cover, and the back part consisting of two pivotally connected, approximately back to back in the sitting position and lying one behind the other in the lying plane with the seat part extended There are back frame parts, of which the rear is articulated to the underframe and the front is connected to the seat frame by means of latchable joints arranged on both sides, while the seat frame is pivotally connected to the chassis or bed box.

Transformable furniture of this type is becoming increasingly popular, particularly in second homes or holiday apartments, but also in guest rooms or smaller main apartments, because when the seat part is pushed in, it represents a fully-fledged, space-saving piece of seating furniture, but on the other hand, when the seat part is pulled out, it is converted into a fully-fledged reclining piece of furniture for resting and sleeping can be.

Furniture of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1 is known from DE-B-1 096 571. In this known piece of furniture designed as a bed divan, the two back parts are connected to one another via a hinge arranged in the region of the upper edges. The front back section is hinged to the pull-out bed box via swivel brackets, each of which forms four-bar joints. Interlockable joints are arranged between the front back part and the seat frame, but nothing is said about their design. To achieve easy removal, the seat part must first be locked by lifting it with the adjacent backrest part, which is cumbersome. The hinge between the backrest parts is only able to withstand slight loads. Continuous full upholstery is not possible due to the compression and bulging of the upholstery.

The object of the invention is to improve the furniture of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1 to the extent that an easy conversion of the furniture from one to the other form of use is possible without this requiring special knowledge. The mechanism used should not be susceptible to faults, require no major operators and should have a long service life. The furniture should enable comfortable sitting in the sitting position or one or more intermediate positions and comfortable resting and sleeping in the lying position with a sufficiently large length of the lying surface.

To solve this problem, the characterizing part of claim 1 specifies features for the embodiment of the invention. In the further claims, advantageous and beneficial further developments are claimed for the task solution.

In the invention, therefore, a two-part backrest is provided, which are connected to one another by scissor joints arranged on both sides. The seat frame part is lashed to the bed box or chassis via swivel bracket pairs provided on both sides and constructed in the manner of quadrilaterals. The pivotable articulation of the front backrest part on the seat frame part takes place via hinges arranged on both sides, which can be locked in such a way that they allow the seat frame part to be pivoted upward, but lock in a certain or several specific pivot positions when the seat frame part is pivoted back, so that now by pivoting back the seat frame part the front backrest section is taken over the latched joints and swung up. In this way, the seat part can be pushed in without difficulty, the two backrest parts folding together by means of the scissor-type joints and yielding the actual backrest in the sitting position.

  • Fig. 6 is an enlarged side view of a locking joint in a position corresponding to Fig. 1 and
  • FIG. 7 the locking joint in the position corresponding to FIG. 5, FIGS. 6 and 7 each showing broken representations.

As can be seen in particular in FIGS. 1 and 2, the furniture, for example in the form of a two-seater sofa, consists of a stationary base frame 2 supported on the floor on the feet 1 and a seat part 4 which can be supported by rollers or rollers 3 and which, according to double arrow A can be pulled out or pushed into the base frame 2. The seat part 4 is guided by telescopic rails indicated at 5 in or on the base frame 2.

The piece of furniture has a two-part backrest 6, the rear part 7 of which is pivotally connected (hinge 8) to the base frame 2 and is pivotally connected to the front backrest part 10 via scissor joints 9 arranged on both sides. Each scissor joint 9 is designed approximately as a double parallelogram and has a symmetrical design. The scissor joints 9 are each articulated with the pivot levers 11 and 12, which are pivotally connected at 13, to the rear section 7 and to the front backrest part 10, respectively, while the free ends of the pivot levers 11, 12 are connected via coupling members 14 and 15 the two backrest parts 7 and 10 are articulated. The arrangement and design of the scissor joints 9 and the two backrest parts 7 and 10 is such that the upper edges of the backrest parts 7, 10 are close to each other and remain together when the two parts 10 and 7 are pivoted. The scissor joints 9 therefore have a hinge function.

The roll-supported seat part 4 consists essentially of a chassis or bed box 16, on the underside of which the rollers 3 are arranged, and a seat frame 17, which at the same time forms a cover or cover for the bed box 16. Both the seat frame 17 and the two backrest parts 7 and 10 are designed as slatted frames or each hold a slatted frame, as can be seen in particular in FIG. 2. While the rear backrest part 7, as already mentioned, is pivotally articulated on the underframe 2, the front backrest part 10 is pivotally connected to the seat frame 17. Namely, locking joints 18 are provided on both sides, to which in connection with FIGS. 6 and 7 will be discussed in more detail. The seat frame 17 is fastened to the bed box 16 via swivel bracket pairs 19, 20 which are likewise arranged on both sides and which are designed in the manner of quadrangles of articulation and which are likewise explained in more detail in connection with FIGS. 6 and 7.

Upholstery pads 21 are provided on the seat frame 17, the front backrest part 10 and the rear backrest part 7, which are indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1. Furthermore, both stops are arranged on the base frame 2 and on the seat part 4, which come into positive contact with one another one after the other, so that different positions of the furniture - seated position and at least one intermediate position called the relax position - are locked and fixed. An intermediate position, in which the seat part is pulled out of the base frame 2 by a certain amount, is shown in FIG. 1, while the seat position is shown in FIG. 3 with the seat part 4 fully inserted. In this sitting position, the two backrest parts 7 and 10 are erected and lie approximately back to back. A lying position in which the two backrest parts 7 and 10 come to lie one behind the other approximately in the plane of the seat frame 17 is shown schematically in FIG. 4. It should also be noted that the rear backrest part 7 is extended downwards beyond the hinge 8, so that in the lying position there is a sufficiently large lying surface with large length dimensions without the seat depth in the sitting position or the height of the backrest being chosen too large must become.

The locking joints 18, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, consist of the two joint parts 22 and 23 which are pivotally connected to one another at 24 and of which the joint part 22 is fixed to the seat frame 17 and the joint part 23 is fixed to the front backrest part 10 is. Between the hinge parts 22, 23, a latching rod 26 with latching teeth 27 is pivotally mounted on the hinge part 23. The articulated part 22 carries a locking pin 28 which, with the locking and locking of the two articulated parts 22, 23 and thus the parts 17 and 10, comes into active engagement between the locking teeth 27. The locking rod 26 is still connected to a cover, not shown, which only releases the locking teeth 27 in one pivoting direction according to arrow B in FIG. 6, that is to say during a folding movement in which the seat frame 17 is pivoted toward the front backrest part 10, the cover is pivoted over the locking teeth in the opposite pivoting direction after the seat frame 17 has been completely folded up, so that the locking pin 28 slides along the locking rod 26.

The seat frame 17, which at the same time forms the cover for the bed box 16, is articulated on both sides via the pair of swivel brackets 19, 20 on the bed box 16. As can be clearly seen in FIGS. 6 and 7, the two swivel brackets 19 and 20 are arranged in such a way that they are inclined towards the front backrest part 10 in the sitting position. The two articulation points 29 and 30 of the swivel brackets 19, 20 on the seat frame 17 are closer together than the two articulation points 31 and 32 on the bed box 16, so that the two swivel brackets 19, 20 enclose an angle converging upwards. It should also be pointed out that the front swivel bracket 19th is longer than the rear swivel bracket 20. Advantageously, the swivel brackets 19 and 20 are articulated directly on the hinge part 22 of the locking joint 18 so that they form a unit together with the locking joint, with another extending between the pivot points 31 and 32 of the brackets 19, 20 Connecting tab 33 is provided. This connecting bracket 33 is fastened to the bed box 16, possibly via a reinforcing strip 34 arranged on the bed box 16. By designing the latching joint 18 and the associated swivel brackets 19, 20 as a unit, all pivot points are largely fixed.

Fig. 7).
Let us now briefly look at how the furniture works:
  • By pulling the seat part 4 forward according to arrow C in FIG. 3, the furniture is transferred from the sitting position shown in FIG. 3 via an intermediate position shown in FIG. 1 to the lying position shown in FIG. 4, in which the two back frame parts 7 and 10 are stretched one behind the other in a plane and form the lying surface together with the seat frame 17 lying approximately in the same plane. The two frame parts 7 and 10 abut one another practically without gaps; the longer design of the rear frame part 7 results in a sufficiently large length of the lying surface. By pivoting the seat frame 17 (arrow D in Fig. 4), the interior of the bed box 16 is accessible so that the bedding, etc. can be removed. During this pivoting up of the seat frame 17, the locking pin 28 slides along the correspondingly inclined locking teeth 27. In the pivoted-up position of the seat frame 17, the cover, not shown, is shifted over the locking teeth, so that the seat frame can be pivoted downward again from this upper position to rest on the bed box 16. If the furniture is now to be moved from the lying position back to the sitting position, the seat frame 17 is only raised by a certain angle according to arrow D, up to a first latching step at which the latching pin 28 comes to rest between two latching teeth 27. If the seat frame 17 is now pivoted downward from this position shown in FIG. 5 according to arrow E until it reaches the position shown in dash-dot lines, the front back frame part 10 and thus also the rear part 7 are moved over via the scissor-type joints (not shown here) pivoted above until they assume the position also shown in broken lines in Fig. 5. At the same time, the seat frame 17 is lifted off the bed box 16 by the swivel brackets 19, 20 (cf. FIG. 7). In this position of the individual parts shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG. 5, the seat part 4 can now be pushed into the base frame 2 without difficulty according to arrow F, the back parts 7 and 10 being raised further until the seat position or one or more intermediate positions is reached will. The intermediate positions as well as the seat position are determined by the stops (not shown further), which can be disengaged by slightly lifting the seat frame.
