Description

The present invention relates to seats, in particular to motor vehicle seats, and more particularly to bucket seats of all kinds. To improve the comfort of armchairs and vehicle seats, it has been proposed to form lateral supports both in the backrest and in the seatplate so that the user is well held in place even when cornering at high speed.

In certain current bucket seats, these lateral supports are produced by padding and / or lining the seats. The drawback of this way of doing things lies in the relatively rapid progressive collapse of these supports, which reduces the holding effect.

This diaphragm has anchoring members for attachment to the frame and is intended to receive padding. Such a construction also does not make it possible to avoid a progressive collapse due to the aging of the elastic characteristics of the diaphragm and to the packing of the padding.

The bucket seat according to the present invention tends to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks and is distinguished by the characteristics listed in claim 1.

The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example two embodiments of the bucket seat according to the invention.
  • Figure 1 is a schematic view of the principle of construction of a motor vehicle seat.
  • FIG. 2 illustrates a platform serving as a frame for the central part of the back respectively of the bucket seat placet according to the invention.
  • Figure 3 illustrates in section the attachment of the platform to the metal frame of the seat.
  • Figure 4 illustrates another method of attaching the platform to the seat frame.

The armchair or bucket seat according to the invention is illustrated schematically in Figure 1, it consists of a horizontal lower frame 1 and an upper frame 2, forming the seat back, articulated on the lower frame 1. These frames 1 and 2 are generally metallic and produced by stamped parts, profiles or tubular elements.

The bearing surfaces of the seat, bottom and backrest generally consist of platforms 3 connected to the respective frames 1,2 by means of springs. This assembly constitutes the carrying frame of the seat which then receives the upholstery and the padding in plastic foam, for example covered with fabrics or imitation leather, in order to give the seat its external appearance.

Generally the platforms 3 are made of metal wires, mesh, plastic plates, etc. and have a generally planar shape.

There are also bucket seats whose platform is made by a rubber diaphragm, therefore elastic, having a flat central part bordered by a wire and wings stretched over frames.

Unlike these existing flat platforms, the bucket seat according to the invention comprises rigid platforms 3 having an approximately flat central surface 4 bordered on two sides with flanges or wings 5 situated in planes forming an angle with the central part. 4 to give the platform a general gutter shape. In the example illustrated, these gutter-shaped platforms are made of molded or injected plastic, they can be solid or perforated as illustrated.

The desired stiffness or flexibility of the seat is obtained by adjusting on the one hand the rigidity of the platforms 4, 5 themselves and on the other hand by the force of the springs 7.

In this way the shape of the bottom and back of the seat in a tub or bowl is already given by the platforms, and not only by the padding, so that any sagging is avoided.

Pour renforcer la rigidité des ailes 5 des plate-formes 3, les organes d'ancrage 6 peuvent comporter des nervures 8 (figure 3).To reinforce the rigidity of the wings 5 of the platforms 3, the anchoring members 6 may include ribs 8 (FIG. 3).

In the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 4, the springs 7 are mounted directly in the anchoring members 6 of the platform 4,5.

It is obvious that the platform described in the form of a gutter could be made of stamped and folded sheet metal, or any other suitable material.

In a variant, the seat could have only one platform in the form of a gutter, forming the backrest or the bottom.

Likewise, the springs 7 can be replaced by any elastic member, rubber bands or loops for example.

In the embodiment of the seat according to the invention it is important that the platform or platforms are made of a relatively rigid material which can be flexible but in no case elastically extensible to guarantee the maintenance of the desired shape of the bucket seat.
