Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a so-called safety cap intended to be used, according to the new recommendations concerning child protection, on containers containing dangerous products, in order to make opening them extremely difficult for young children.
  • plugs described in patent FR-A-1 378 872 are of the so-called "buried" type, that is to say that these plugs as a whole have the shape of a bowl, none of the parts of which protrudes from the neck of a bottle or the opening of a tube on which this type of stopper is placed.
  • Patent DE-C-875,453 describes plugs which are not of the "buried" type, since they comprise rigid means extending axially in the body and projecting out of the neck of the container.
  • the invention therefore aims to achieve a safety cap in which the maneuver necessary for its removal, although simple, presents an extreme difficulty for young children and does not appear obvious even for adults, while being easy when you know the secret.
  • the invention therefore relates to a child-protective cap as defined in the preamble of claim 1 and is characterized in that the rigid means are solid and extend over a large continuous part of the bottom of the bowl, so that that a part of the bottom of the bowl can deform to stick against the bottom wall of the neck forming a pivot, while the opposite part of the bottom of said bowl deforms by peeling the wall of the stopper out of the neck.
  • Fig.1 a first embodiment of a safety cap according to the invention.
  • This stopper designated as a whole by the reference 1 is produced by molding in plastic material and comprises a body having as a whole the shape of a bowl with thin cylindrical wall 2 having a bottom 3 of the same thickness coming from material which is represented plane but may be slightly convex down.
  • the plug 1 comprises a single semicircular bead 4 projecting inwardly from the molding with the wall 2, approximately halfway up the latter.
  • the plug further comprises an appendage 5 comprising an enlarged base 6 whose surface is greater than that of appendix 5 but a little less than that of the bottom 3, this appendage and its base having come integrally with the bottom.
  • the plug 1 further comprises on its upper edge, a peripheral rim 7 projecting radially outwards, this rim also made of material by molding having in section a shape complementary to that of the edge of the neck 8 which, according to the example shown, has a chamfered surface 9 inclined inward, the arrangement being such that when the stopper is in position in the neck 8 of the container as shown in Fig.1, the peripheral edge of the stopper does not overflow outside of the neck.
  • the height of the appendix 5 is at most equal to the depth of the plug so that the end of this appendage does not protrude either outside the neck of the container.
  • the appendix 5 is massive and has in section a shape, for example circular, its base 6 also being massive, and having a thickness greatly greater than that of the bottom 3 and of the wall of the body of the plug which are relatively thin, the arrangement being such that the appendix 5 and its base 6 are rigid and practically non-deformable with respect to each other, while the bottom 3 and the wall 2 of the body are relatively thin and therefore flexible and easily deformable.
  • the axis of appendix 5 is, in this example, coincident with the central axis of the stopper and consequently of the neck of the container to which it is intended to be adapted and it can advantageously include one or two circular beads such as 10, slightly protruding radially outside the appendix.
  • the appendix 5 having only a rather low height, at most equal to the depth of the body of the stopper, with its base 6, provides only an extremely difficult grip, because of the diameter of the neck 8 and the free space around the appendix to grasp it between two fingers which is extremely limited.
  • the action necessary to open the container consists in exerting on appendage 5 a slightly oblique lateral thrust on the upper end of this appendix, for example as indicated by arrow F or arrow F 'in FIG. 1 by using this appendage as a pusher to drive with it its rigid base 6 and consequently to deform the adjacent part of the bottom 3 adjacent to the base 6, this deformation also causing that of a part of the wall 2.
  • this deformation is obtained, the stresses developed in the wall of the stopper tend to make it come out by itself from the neck of the bottle.
  • FIG. 2 shows another embodiment of a safety cap according to the invention and FIG. 3 shows the deformation of the wall of the body of the plug at the time of its removal.
  • the appendage 15 forming a pusher which is solid and formed integrally with the rest of the body of the plug has a frustoconical shape whose height is offset laterally relative to the central axis of the body of the plug.
  • the lower part of the pusher 15 which constitutes its large base, designated by the reference 16 is adjacent at a point on its periphery to the wall 12 of the plug and is further away from it at a diametrically opposite point, thus leaving a substantially remaining surface. larger from the bottom 13.
  • the radial rim 17 is adapted to cooperate with a shoulder 19 of complementary shape provided in the end edge of the neck 18.
  • the pusher 15 only allows in this embodiment an even more difficult grip when trying to grasp it between two fingers, because of its proximity to a wall 12 of the plug and because of its smooth frustoconical shape which allows it to easily escape tightening.
  • Figs. 4 and 5 another variant of the safety cap according to the invention, in which the pusher 25 has the shape of a half truncated cone, cut vertically in half in the direction of the height and according to a diameter and consequently having a partially frustoconical rounded face 28 and a vertical flat face 28A on which one or two transverse beads such as 29 are provided.
  • the axis of the pusher 25 is offset from the central axis of the plug, the base 26 of the pusher having a flat horizontal surface in its part adjacent to the vertical face 28A and having a significant thickness relative to the substance 23.
  • the partially frustoconical part 28 is consequently adjacent to the wall 22 at a point of the plug te 23A and a diametrically opposite part 23 wider.
  • peripheral rim 27 having a chamfered shape, suitable for use with the neck of a container having for example the shape shown in FIG. 6.
  • the bottom of the cuvette of the plug deforms to come to stick to the inside wall of the neck or of the tube, and forms a pivot.
  • the cuvette of the cork Under the thrust F1, F2, the bottom of the cuvette of the plug deforms to come to stick to the inside wall of the neck or of the tube, and forms a pivot.
  • the cuvette of the cork Under the traction of the base of the pusher, there is a deformation of the cuvette and the body of the cork which make a real fold in hyperboloid turned downwards taking off over most of it from its height, the wall 12, 22 of the interior wall of the neck. The plug then comes out and escapes on this side.
  • Figs. 7 and 8 show two other examples of possible forms of necks with which the peripheral edges of the cap according to the invention can be adapted to cooperate, so as to have no projecting part relative to the end of the neck when the cap is completely in square.
  • the internal bead 4, 14 and 24 ensures excellent resistance of the cylindrical part of the wall of the stopper and its intimate and tight contact with the internal cylindrical wall adjacent to the neck of the container.
  • this bead also being deformed when a lateral thrust is exerted on the pusher contributes to generating in the wall of the stopper the stresses the result of which tends to cause the stopper to come out of the neck in which it is placed.
  • the safety cap according to the invention lends itself very easily to the establishment of a tamper-evident or guarantee strip. Indeed, such a strip can be glued by its ends to the external wall of the neck by covering part of the stopper, which implies the need to puncture this strip in order to be able to exert the necessary lateral thrust on the pusher.
  • the lateral thrust F can be exerted in any direction due to the fact that the base 6 delimits on the bottom 3 an area marginal annular of equal width over its entire periphery.
  • the thickness of the bottom of the wall of the plug should be very carefully chosen according to the diameter and height of the cap.
  • the invention provides a protective cap whose removal by a child is practically impossible and even presents difficulties for an adult who does not know the instructions.
