Claims (25)

1. A coupling device for circular plug contacts crimped to electric conductors and comprising a plug (3) and a socket (1), circular pin bushings being preferably disposed in chambers (2) of the socket (1) and circular pins in chambers (4) of the plug (3), characterised by contact chambers (4) extending from the surface (7) of the plug (3) to a plug-in surface (8) of the plug (3), and contact chambers (2) extending from the surface (5) of the socket (1) to a plug-in surface (6) of the socket (1), the contact chambers (2, 4) being in line and facing on another when the coupling is plugged in, the plug (3) being disposed in a pot (9), the bottom (10) of which is adjacent the plug surface (7) and the pot (9) being made longer than the plug (3) and extending partly over the socket (1) on the plug (3), the socket (1) being disposed in a second pot (15) the bottom of which (16) is adjacent the socket surface (5), inwardly projecting, radially inwardly spring-mounted, laterally spaced locking arms (11) being arranged in groups on the bottom (10) of the first pot (9), each group projecting into a contact chamber (4), and similarly shaped, similarly acting second locking arms (11a) being arranged in groups in similar manner on the bottom (16) of the second pot (15) in the same way as on the bottom (10) of the first pot (9), each group extending into a contact chamber (2), an 0-ring (27) being mounted in an outer peripheral groove (28) formed in a wall (17) of the second pot (15) and being pressed against the inner wall of the first pot (9).
2. A coupling device according to claim 1, characterised in that it is made round and comprises a cylindrical socket (1) with spaced-apart contact chambers (2) extending parallel to the cylinder axis and a cylindrical plug (3) having similarly disposed contact chambers (4).
3. A coupling device according to claim 1 and/or 2, characterised in that the socket (1) and plug (3) have the same diameter.
4. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the plug (3) is disposed in a substantially cylindrical first pot (9).

A coupling device according to claim 1, characterised in that each group comprises at least two locking arms (11) which, as seen in plan view, are disposed on a circle having a diameter somewhat smaller than the diameter of a contact chamber (4) of plug (3) near surface (7), and a group preferably occupies about a third of the length of the contact chamber (4).
6. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that a peripheral step (12) is formed on the inside of the first pot (9) near the plug (3) so that the region (13) above the step (12) has a greater diameter than below, the plug (3) resting approximately positively in the lower region in the first pot (9).
7. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the second pot (15) is substantially cylindrical.
8. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that peripherally distributed centering ribs (14) are disposed on the outer wall of plug (3) above step (12) in the first pot (9) and bear against the inner wall of the region (13) above the step (12), on which they preferably rest.
9. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the inner wall of the first pot (9) is made cylindrical and flat above the step (12).
10. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 9, characterised in that the wall (17) of the second pot (15) is shorter than the length of the socket (1) and extends into the first pot (9). and the socket (1) rests positively in the second pot (15) and the second pot (15) rests positively in the first pot (9).
11. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 10, characterised in that external peripherally distributed centering rings (18a) are disposed on the walls (17a) of socket (1) near socket (6) and extend from surface (6) almost as far as the edge of wall (17) of the second pot (15).
12. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 11, characterised in that the centering ribs (14) and (18a) extend parallel to the longitudinal axis of the coupling.
13. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 12, characterised in that the top end region of the second pot (15) has an external abutment, more particularly in the form of a peripheral annular web (18), which rests on the top edge (19) of the first pot (9).

A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 13, characterised in that the first pot (9) has an outer thread (20) below the top edge (19) for screwing a correspondingly internally threaded (22) nut (21) having an inwardly projecting annular collar (23) in the top edge region which, when screwed, abuts the annular web (18) of the second pot (15) which in turn is pressed against the top edge (19) of the first pot (9).
15. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 14, characterised by a Seeger ring (25) mounted in an outer annular groove (24) of the second pot (15) and bearing against the upper edge (26) of the nut (21).
16. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 15, characterised by an anti-twisting means, preferably comprising at least one groove-like edge recess (29) extending in the longitudinal direction of the plug-in coupling and one web (30) guided positively in the recess (29).
17. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 16, characterised in that the second pot (15) is locked to the socket (1) in the same manner as the first pot (9) is locked to the plug (3).
18. A coupling device according to claim 17, characterised in that the locking means for the pot-socket combination comprise radially spring-mounted, peripherally distributed locking arms (31) which project downwards beyond the second pot (15) and have an inwardly extending locking lug (32), each lug (32) extending locking lug (32), each lug (32) extending behind cams (33) disposed at the outer surface of the socket.
19. A coupling device according to claim 18, characterised by openings (35) in the bottom (16) of the second pot (15) and longitudinal grooves (34) in line therewith in the socket (1).
20. A coupling device according to claim 17, characterised in that the locking means for the pot-plug combination have upwardly extending locking arms (31 a) forming a continuation of the wall (9a) of the first pot (9) and having locking lugs (32a) which engage behind cams (33a) disposed on the periphery of the plug (3).
21. A coupling device according to claim 20, characterised by openings (35a) in the bottom (10) of the first pot (9), in the line with longitudinal grooves (34a) in the plug (3).
22. A coupling device according to any of claims 17 to 21, characterised in that pre-locking cams (36) and (36a) are disposed in front of cams (33), (33a) respectively of socket (1) and plug (3) respectively.
23. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 22, characterised in that when the coupling is plugged in, the locking arms (11, 11a) of the two pots (9, 15) each slide on a conically inward annular surface in chambers (2.4) and are forced radially inwards.
24. A coupling device according to any of claims 1 to 23, characterised by a flanged edge (29) of the first pot (9), which is mounted against a metal plate (41), preferably with interposition of a resilient ring (40), the part of the plug-in coupling disposed above the flanged edge (39) extending through a hole (42) in the metal plate (41).
25. A coupling device according to claims 14 and 24, characterised in that the outer diameter of the nut (21) is greater than the diameter of the hole (42) and the lower edge of the nut (21) abuts the plate (41), if required with interposition of a resilient ring.
