Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for attaching a metal case frame to a case shell made of resistant plastic and parts for performing the method, in particular the case shell made of resistant plastic and the metal case frame.
Suitcase frames made of metal, preferably made of light metal, such as, for example, Al Mg Si or similar alloys, are usually attached to case shells made of plastic or to a lower case part and / or to a case lid to stiffen them. Two methods have hitherto become known for attaching the metal case frames to case shells or to the case bottom and / or the case lid. In one method, the metal frame is connected to the respective case part with a large number of hollow rivets, clip-on clips or similar fastening means. The hollow rivets and in particular the spliced clips are then covered in the interior of the case by an adhesive tape, so that objects which are accommodated in the case cannot be damaged by these connecting means. In the other, previously known method, a suitably designed metal case frame is rolled or rolled up. Both previously used methods to create a metal case frame Men with a case shell or a lower case and / or a case lid firmly have the disadvantage that expensive, complex special tools are required, and that the process is very time-consuming and therefore very cost-intensive.
According to the invention, the disadvantages of the known methods for attaching case frames to case shells or lower parts are to be eliminated, and according to the invention, a method is to be created by which a light metal case frame can be quickly and just as firmly as with the known methods can be securely attached to a lower case or case shell; in addition, parts are to be created according to the invention for the rapid and effective implementation of the method. According to the invention, this is achieved by the features in the characterizing part of
According to a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention, the open side of the lower part of the case or the case shell is first aligned with respect to a stationary metal case frame. For this purpose, the lower part of the case or the case shell is preferably lifted a little above the stationary metal case frame by means of negative pressure and precisely aligned with respect to the case frame by corresponding guides. These are then merged into a firm connection between the metal case frame and the case base or case shell otherwise, preferably the lower part of the case or the case shell is pressed into the metal case frame.
For this purpose, a substantially all-round approach is formed near the front end of the self-contained edge of the third case lower part or the case shell, which has the shape of a barb in section. To accommodate the barbed approach to the front edge of the lower part of the case or the case shell, the metal case frame has, in addition to a guide opening, an approximately trapezoidal cutout in section. In this recess of the metal case frame, when the lower part of the case or the case shell is inserted under a corresponding pressure, the hook-shaped attachment formed on it engages in such a way that this attachment is firm and thus close to a part of the frame opening which is approximately perpendicular Recess is present. In order to facilitate the insertion of the barbed attachment formed on the front edge of the lower case part or the case shell, a flat bulge is provided in the metal case frame, for example, opposite the recess formed in it. Furthermore, a thin, elastic, outwardly projecting lip is formed at the front free end of the self-contained edge of a lower case part or a case shell in its or its extension, which after inserting the edge of the lower case part or the case shell into the Metal case frame is bent and thereby rests sealingly at the end of the guide opening in the case frame.
Due to the corresponding design of the front edge of a lower case part or a case shell and a correspondingly adapted design of the guide opening or the recess in the metal case frame, on the one hand it is achieved that the two mentioned parts can be pressed into one another in a simple manner after alignment NEN, the barbed section on the front end of a lower case or case shell then snaps into the recess of the lower case part so that the lower case or case shell is firmly and securely connected to the case frame. On the other hand, due to the firm and therefore tight contact of the barbed approach to a wall of the recess and the firm and thus also tight contact of the lip formed at the front end of the edge of a lower case part or a case shell at the inner end of the guide opening Seal achieved by which it is ensured in a simple and reliable manner that the ingress of water, moisture, dirt, etc. into the inside of the case is practically excluded.
The invention is described below with reference to a preferred embodiment, the single figure in section showing the front edge of a lower case part or a case shell, which is inserted into a case frame, also shown in section. Here, the invention is explained in more detail using only one possible embodiment. Furthermore, features of the parts essential to the invention for carrying out the method according to the invention can be seen from the drawing.
In the figure, a
On the
Furthermore, part of a metal case frame 2 is also shown in section, which has a
As can be seen from the figure; the
Likewise, the compressed and
