  • the present invention relates to a new type of collector plates for tube exchangers and dissipators, such as vehicle engine cooling radiators. It applies more particularly to radiators intended for heavy vehicles; due to their large dimensions, the thermal expansions take on a particularly large amplitude, while a strong connection of the water boxes and the side cheeks, intended to form a rigid frame therefore not allowing the expansions, is provided to improve the behavior mechanics of these devices subjected in service to severe conditions and which requires a particularly long service life.
  • the header plate for heat exchangers has, on the one hand, a peripheral groove cooperating with the lower part of the box to which it is connected by any means known in the industry of heat exchangers and ensuring the longitudinal rigidity of the plate in a way complementary to that provided by the box in the form of a hollow beam and, on the other hand, a part called "bottom of collector” in which are drawn and perforated the passages of tubes, provided with collars to which are brazed the tubes, and between which are formed grooves transverse thanks to which the collector plate can absorb differential expansions which generate damaging stresses which should not appear in the brazed joints.

  • the groove 11 is intended in the embodiment shown to contain a partition seal 5a (fig. 5, 6 and 7) which is intended to seal between a partition 12 formed internally by the water box 3 and the manifold plate 2 when the exchanger is of the multiple pass type.
