Abstract

The invention relates to a frame, more particularly for a shower partition, the said frame comprising at least two shaped or profiled rails preferably connected together at a right angle. In the case of a frame of this kind, problems arise in the corner area in that the surfaces of the profiled rail, shaping element, covering profile, or the like in that area must be carried over into each other. Moreover, as a result of assembly inaccuracies, when a frame of this kind is assembled, gaps arise into which dirt can penetrate and which are also constructionally undesirable. It is therefore proposed, according to the invention, that a facing element (16) be arranged in the connecting area between the profiled rails (2, 4) on the outside of the frame, the said facing element comprising at least one spring locking means (36, 58). This spring locking means engages and/or catches in an opening (30, 36) in the profiled rail (4), thus ensuring an easily produced but functionally reliable attachment of the said facing element (16) to the profiled rail (4).

Description

The invention relates to a frame, in particular for a shower partition, according to the preamble of claim 1.

From BE-A-891820 a frame for a shower partition is known, the profile rails of which are connected to one another by means of a corner connector. The corner connector engages with pins in corresponding hollow chambers of the profile rails, which contain facing profiles on their outer surfaces. The corner connector also has a sector-shaped recess in which a facing element is inserted, which is adapted in color and shape to the facing profiles. Such a corner connector represents an additional component that has to be designed for high strength in order to connect the profile rails of the frame in a functionally reliable manner. Furthermore, the production and the fastening of the facing element in the corner connector requires a corresponding effort. Furthermore, there is often a requirement in such frames to cut the profile rails to the required dimensions at the installation site in order to adapt them to the structural conditions. It is not possible to achieve excessively high requirements with regard to dimensional accuracy and angularity, so that disadvantageous gaps between the profile rails can hardly be avoided. This not only adversely affects the visual impression, but contaminations and dirt can penetrate into the frame through such gaps; this is disadvantageous in particular in the case of shower partitions with regard to hygiene requirements.

Furthermore, it is known to also connect profile rails of a frame directly to one another, the profile rails being mitered and connected to one another by means of screws or the like. Such a miter connection requires careful, precise angular manufacture in order to prevent the profile rails from gaping apart in the connection area and thus to prevent dirt and impurities from penetrating into the frame.

The invention has for its object to develop the frame of the type mentioned in such a way that with low construct. tiv effort the rails can be connected to each other, a harmonious transition from one to the other rail should be created and any gap or the like should be bridged.

The features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1 serve to solve the problem.

The facing element provided in the area of the frame corner can be connected to one profile rail in a functionally reliable manner by means of the resilient latch. The surface structure or design of the facing element is adapted to the profile rails and in particular also to their facing profiles, as a result of which a harmonious transition from one profile rail to the other profile rail is obtained. Furthermore, the facing element, which projects with one side part over the front edge of the other profile rail, enables the other profile rail to be cut to size according to the structural conditions at the installation site. Even if the other profile rail is cut less precisely, a gap that may occur is covered by the facing element, and the penetration of dirt and foreign bodies into the frame is prevented to that extent. With the facing element, oblique or unclean cut surfaces of the profile rails can thus be appropriately covered. With its resilient latch, the facing element is simply clipped onto the profile rail, and special assembly work or tools are not required. The veneer element is inexpensive to manufacture and can easily be designed in accordance with the surface structure or the configuration of the surfaces of the profile rails, in order to obtain a harmonious transition from one profile rail to another in a simple manner and without disruptive side effects. Furthermore, inaccuracies when cutting the profile rails to size can be accepted and larger manufacturing tolerances are permitted, since a possible gap in the area of the frame corner is covered by the facing element.

In an expedient embodiment, the facing element has at least one guide surface on its rear side, to which a contact surface of the one profile rail is assigned. This ensures a precise alignment of the facing element with respect to the above-mentioned profile rail in a simple manner.

In a further embodiment, the facing element has a central part which engages in a longitudinal groove in the one profile rail. Because of the middle part, the facing element has great stability and can therefore also be made comparatively thin in other areas, without the reliable fastening being impaired thereby. Due to the central part engaging in the longitudinal groove, reliable fixing and guiding of the facing element is also ensured.

A further embodiment is characterized in that the contact surface of the profile rail is provided on a side wall of the longitudinal groove, the guide surface of the facing element preferably extending over its entire length. A reliable alignment and fixation of the facing element is ensured in a particularly simple manner.

In another embodiment, the facing element has an extension which engages in an undercut recess in the profile rail. A secure fit of the facing element in the profile rail is achieved. On the one hand, the resilient bolt and, on the other hand, the mentioned shoulder engage in the recess of the profile rail provided for this purpose, whereby an appropriate distribution of forces is achieved.

In a further embodiment, the facing element preferably rests on the bottom surface of the longitudinal groove with its base surface, which is preferably present on the reinforced central part. Damage to the facing element when it is inserted or clipped into the profile rail is prevented since the bottom surface forms a stop and prevents the facing element from bending or even breaking off.

The side part expediently has a small thickness, which is preferably in the range from 1 to 4 mm and expediently in the range from 1.5 to 3 mm. Because of this small thickness, the side part can easily project beyond the associated profile rail without adversely affecting the design of the frame.

In an expedient development, the facing element protrudes with its end part in a predetermined length beyond the end face of the facing profile of the one profile rail. Inaccuracies or damage to the face of the facing profile are covered in a simple manner.

In a special embodiment, the one profiled rail has a recess, which is preferably designed as a bore, into which a pin of the facing element aligned essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the profiled rail engages. The fixing of the facing element along the profile rail is ensured in a simple manner. Furthermore, if the pin is provided with at least one resilient bolt, the pin and bolt are integrated into one unit, as a result of which cost-effective production is achieved.

In a further embodiment, the facing element has at least one lever extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis, at the end of which the bolt is arranged, which engages in the lateral recess of the profile rail and / or its longitudinal groove. Due to the lever, a comparatively large spring travel for the bolt is possible, as a result of which a particularly simple insertion or clipping of the facing element into the profile rail is achieved.

In a further embodiment, the facing element has a tongue spaced from its rear side, the pin engaging in the recess being arranged at the end of the tongue. Here, tongue with pin thus forms the latch proposed according to the invention, which can now be moved approximately perpendicular to the bottom surface of the profile rail due to the distance from the rear of the facing element. In this embodiment, the facing element can also be very easily removed again, since the pin only has to be pressed out of the recess from the rear of the profile rail in order to subsequently enable the facing element to be removed from the profile rail and / or its longitudinal groove.

In an alternative embodiment, the facing element has at least one outwardly curved web on its rear side, a recess being provided in the web in such a way that a part of the web spaced apart from the rear side forms the resilient latch. Said recess can be arranged in the form of a slot or the like in a simple manner during compression molding in the web provided on the rear side of the facing element. There is therefore a web, preferably extending over the entire length, on the back of the facing element, which also forms the resilient bolt there due to the recess provided according to the invention. Because of the outward curvature, the spaced-apart part of the web or the resilient latch formed in this way engages in the recess in the profile rail, which has already been explained in detail above, after insertion into the profile rail. Basically, only a single web can be provided, the arrangement and design of which depends on the associated recess in the profile rail. It can be seen that there are expediently two webs designed in this way with latches which spring outwards, especially since each latch then only has to be dimensioned for half the required spring travel. The resilient latch is expediently in the middle and it also expediently also extends over approximately half the length of the facing element. This results in a favorable compromise with regard to strength and resilience. In order to facilitate the insertion of the facing element into the profile rail, the spaced-apart part of the web and thus the resilient latch on its outer surface are expediently beveled or rounded.

Fig. 1 shows the connection area of two rails 2, 4, which are connected to each other in a manner not shown here. It should be noted that the profile rail 2 is well known screw channels or the like. For screw ben can have to get a firm connection between the rails 2 and 4. The frame can consist of a total of four such rails arranged perpendicular to each other, only the upper right corner of the frame being shown here for the sake of simplicity. If it is a shower partition, the profile rail 2 has well-known guide rails. Sliding doors are slidably suspended on these guide rails, which are not shown here, in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the profile rail 2. The profile rail 4, like the profile rail 2, has side surfaces 6, 8 which are arranged inclined at a predetermined angle to the front surface 10 of the profile rail 4. In the middle, the profile rail 4, correspondingly applies to the profile rail 2, has a longitudinal groove 12, in which a facing profile 14 is arranged. The facing profile 14 is shorter than the profile rail 4, so that the longitudinal groove 12 is free in the connection area. A facing element 16 is also provided, which can be arranged with its reinforced middle part 18 in the longitudinal groove 12. For reasons of clarity and for a better explanation, the facing profile 14 is shown detached from the profile rail 4. The facing profile has two lateral guide surfaces 20, 22 which bear against lateral contact surfaces 24, 26 of the profile rail 4 and / or the longitudinal groove 12. It can be seen that a good alignment of the facing element 16 with respect to the longitudinal axis of the profile rail 4 is thus ensured. A recess 30 is provided in the bottom surface 28 of the longitudinal groove 12 and is designed in a simple manner as a bore. Accordingly, the facing element 16 on the rear side 32 has a pin which engages in the recess. The pin 34 is provided with four resilient latches 36 which, after the facing element has been inserted into the profile rail, snaps into the bore and subsequently prevents the facing element 16 from falling out. By pressing together the four resilient bolts 36, however, the facing element can be removed again without further notice. The side part 38 assigned to the profile rail 2 has a comparatively small thickness d and projects beyond the end edge 40 of the other profile rail 2 by a predetermined width b.

In the drawing, the longitudinal edge 44 of the facing element 16 is indicated by the dash-dotted line 42. The thickness d is approximately 2 mm, so that the protruding longitudinal edge 44 is practically unnoticeable. As further indicated by the dash-dotted line 46, the facing element 16 projects with its lower end part 48 beyond the end face 50 of the facing profile 14. In this way, a symmetrical configuration of the connection area is achieved in a simple manner, since both the end part 48 and the side part 38 protrude in a corresponding manner. It can be seen that gaps or unclean cut surfaces at the ends of both the facing profiles and the profile rail 2 are covered by the facing element, so that no special tolerances have to be observed when the said parts are cut to size. The lower end part 48 protrudes beyond the end face 50 by a predetermined length 1, as indicated by the line 46.

The middle part 18 of the facing element 16 has a longitudinal extension 52 which engages in an undercut recess 54 of the profile rail. Opposite there is a further recess 56 in the profile rail 4, with two latches 58 engaging in the latter recess 56. These bars 58 are arranged at the ends of levers 60 of the facing element 16. In this way, comparatively large spring travel is achieved for the resilient latch 58 designed in this way, so that the insertion of the facing element 16 into the profile rails and / or the longitudinal groove 12 thereof can be carried out particularly easily. The latches 58 are expediently provided with rounded edges 62 in order to ensure that they can be inserted and clipped in easily. A fixation of the facing element 16 with respect to the longitudinal axis 64 of the profile rail 4 is ensured by means of the pin 34, which is cylindrical here and which engages in the recess 30 in the bottom surface 28 of the longitudinal groove 12. To insert the facing element 16, it is inserted into the longitudinal groove 12 in the direction of the arrow 66, the lateral extension 52 first being inserted into the undercut recess. It can be seen that subsequently by further pressing in the facing element 16, the resilient latches 58 initially withdraw somewhat, in order then to snap into the associated recess 56.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the facing element 16 has two lateral projections 52, 68, which each engage in the associated undercut recesses 54, 56 of the profile rail. For this purpose, the facing element 16 must be pushed into the profile rail 4 in the direction of the arrow 70. On the back of the facing element there is a tongue 72, at the end of which the pin 34 is arranged. This resilient tongue 52 is at a certain distance from the rear side of the facing element 16, so that this resilient tongue can be correspondingly pushed back when it is pushed into the profile rail. If the facing element 16 is then fully inserted into the profile rail 4, the pin 34 engages in the associated recess 30 of the profile rail. The facing element can be removed again at any time, for which purpose the pin 34 only has to be pushed out of the recess 30 from behind, so that the facing element 16 subsequently counteracts the direction device 70 can be pushed up out of the profile rail 4 again.

As can be seen, the profile rails 2, 4 have side surfaces 6, 8 arranged inclined with respect to the front surface 10. The facing element 16 is formed in the region of the side part 48 and also the end part 58 in such a way that it also lies directly on the inclined side surfaces 6, 8. This ensures a particularly expedient and inexpensive adaptation to the profile rails by means of the facing element. It is not necessary to emphasize that even with differently shaped surfaces of the profile rails 2, 4, with a facing element 16 designed according to the invention, the required adaptation is achieved without difficulty. The facing element 16 also has, according to the invention, a decorative element 74 which, in terms of its color or other configuration, corresponds to the facing profiles 14 of the two profile rails 2, 4. If, for example, the facing profiles 14 are designed as wooden profiles, the desired adaptation can be achieved without difficulty by means of a thin decorative element, for example in the form of a film or a wooden veneer.

Figure imgb0002
FIG. 5 shows a further embodiment of the facing element 16, specifically in a view of the rear side 32. There are two outwardly curved webs 76, which have the greatest distance from one another approximately in the middle. In connection with FIG. 6, in which a section along section line VI is shown, recesses 78 can be seen in both webs 76. Because of these recesses 78, the parts of the webs spaced apart from the rear side 32 form resilient latches 36 which can be pressed inwards in the direction of the arrows 82. The recesses 78 are arranged substantially approximately in the middle and they also extend approximately over half the length of the facing element 16. It should be noted at this point that the facing element consists of a suitable, elastically resilient material, so that the spring action explained is sufficient results. The outer surfaces 80 of the resilient latches 36 are chamfered or also rounded, whereby the insertion into the associated profile rail is made considerably easier. Due to the outward curvature provided according to the invention, the resilient latches 36 engage in the associated recesses after being inserted into a profile rail, as a result of which a firm and reliable fit is ensured. The decorative element 74 provided on the front surface can also be seen in FIG. 6.
