Description

The invention relates to a temperature sensor which is designed in the form of a probe and can be inserted into the vagina of female pets and which has at the end facing the vaginal exit a cable which can be connected to a transmitter carried by the animal. existing device for indicating the start of the birth of the young animals.

Devices of the type mentioned are known. The transmitter has a built-in electronic threshold transmitter. A commercially available battery used in the transmitter, e.g. a 9 V alkaline manganese battery with a lifespan of approx. 3 months. The temperature values determined by the temperature sensor are passed on to the transmitter. If the previously set threshold is exceeded or undershot, which is the case with cattle and horses, e.g. the case is when the amniotic fluid goes off, in pigs and sheep when the fetus and thus the probe is expelled, the transmitter emits signals which are picked up by a receiver arranged in the barn. The receiver then triggers an alarm, e.g. in the form of an acoustic signal or in the form of a light signal. The alarm transmitter does not have to be located in the immediate vicinity of the receiver. It is also possible to connect the alarm device to the receiver via a connecting line or a radio link.

Devices of the type mentioned have the disadvantage that the probe falls out of the vagina or is pulled out of it very easily. This results in that when the threshold value is higher than the usual temperature at. No alarm is given at all at the beginning of the birth and false alarm is given if the threshold is below the usual temperature.

The object of the present invention is to design the device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the probe does not accidentally fall out of the vagina and cannot be pulled out of it.

This object is essentially achieved in that the probe has a radially arranged, circumferential flange.

The probe with the radially arranged, circumferential flange is - pushed appropriately by means of an applicator - so deep into the vagina that the animal can no longer eject it under normal pressure. The probe can now only be pulled out of the vagina because the flange prevents it from slipping out or being pulled out without noticeable resistance. The probe is expediently designed to be elongated and the insertion end is in the form of a spherical cap. The flange is then arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the probe. The flange should be detachably connected to the probe to make cleaning easier and to easily replace damaged flanges. For this reason, it is advantageous if the probe has a radially arranged, circumferential groove into which the flange, which is then in the form of an annular disk, is inserted. It is advantageous to design the flange as a rosette, in particular a clover leaf rosette. If the flange is made of elastic material, in particular rubber, the insertion is made easier because the segments of the rosette-shaped flange then bend backwards as viewed from the insertion end. Unintentional ejection is also made more difficult because the segments of the rosette then move in the opposite direction have to bend. The rosette should be made of a material that is resistant to faeces, body juices of any kind, etc.

1 to 4, the invention is shown for example in one embodiment and in one embodiment on a mother sow, without being limited to this embodiment and this embodiment.
  • Fig. 1 shows schematically a sow with inserted probe and belted transmitter;
  • .Fig..2 schematically the insertion of the probe,
  • Fig. 3 shows the probe used
  • Fig. 4 shows the probe with the rosette-shaped flange.

The transmitter shoulder strap 5, which can be designed differently and in which the transmitter is installed, is put on and fastened to the mother animal 7. The probe 1 is inserted into the vagina 8, expediently by means of the applicator 6, to such a depth that the mother animal cannot eject the probe 1 by the usual pressing pressure. Probe 1 is elongated. The insertion end 4 is formed in the shape of a spherical cap in order to facilitate insertion. The probe 1 has a circumferential groove 3. A flange 2 engages in this groove 3, through whose central opening 9 the probe 1 is guided. The flange 2 is rosette-shaped and consists of elastic material. In particular when inserting the probe 1, the segments of the flange 2 bend backwards away from the insertion end 4, so that the insertion of the probe 1 is made considerably easier. Unintentionally, the probe 1 can practically not be removed from the sheath 8. The segments 10 must be bent when pulling the probe 1 out of the sheath 8 in the direction of the insertion end 4, which is practically impossible without any noticeable expenditure of force. The probe 1 has a cable 11 at the end facing away from the insertion end, which protrudes from the sheath 11 and is guided along the body of the animal to the transmitter built into the carrying strap 5. The cable 11 is detachably connected to the transmitter. By the Cable 11 leads the wires of the temperature sensor designed as a probe 1. When the first fetus 12 is expelled from the uterus 13, the probe 1 is also expelled. Because the body temperature of the mother animal is generally considerably higher than the outside temperature, the threshold value to which the transmitter is set is not reached. The transmitter emits a corresponding signal, which is picked up by the receiver, which triggers the alarm.
