The re-inking mechanism is self-adjusting since an increase in the tension of the ribbon (84) indicating its depletion in ink causes an increase in the pressure on the ink supply roller (100) to increase the transfer of ink to the ribbon (84), and a decrease in the ribbon (84) indicating a condition of ink saturation in the ribbon (84) causes a decrease in pressure on the ink supply roller (100) to limit transfer of ink with ribbon ink (84).
