Abstract

A training cartridge includes a metallic cartridge case with a case shoulder and dummy projectile having a gas exhaust opening at its front end. A propellant charge powder chamber of the cartridge case is closed in the forward direction by means of a cup-shaped closure element that is inserted in the cartridge case close to the case shoulder and that bursts or ruptures during firing under the action of the powder gases along predetermined intentional breaking zones. Toward the rear, the powder chamber is sealed by means of a bottom piece inserted in the cartridge case. By placing the intentional opening zones into the interior of the cartridge, danger of injury by the ejected cartridge case is reduced to a minimum.

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Manöverpatrone der im Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1 angegebenen Art.The invention relates to a maneuver cartridge of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.

Maneuver cartridges made of metal, plastic or a combination of these substances are known. Depending on the type of construction, the individual versions of these maintenance cartridges for maneuvering purposes have advantages and disadvantages, which can manifest themselves both in the interior ballistics or the weapon function, as well as in the behavior of the cartridge residues ejected after the shot. With the widespread type of maneuver cartridge with a cartridge case made of plastic and a metal bottom piece inserted into it, due to the relatively small remaining mass and the type of material used in cartridge ejection, injuries to the rifle or to persons who are in the ejection area of the weapon are not to be expected.

In the case of metal maneuver cartridges, on the other hand, the moment of danger is significantly increased, both by the generally higher weight of the remainder of the cartridge and above all by the sharp-edged design of the shot resulting opening point of the hollow bullet tip imitated opposite the cartridge for the sharp shot.

The invention has for its object to avoid the last-mentioned disadvantage in a Manöder V erpatrone / specified in the preamble of claim 1, that is, to design it so that the risk of injury from the ejected cartridge body is reduced to a minimum.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the design according to the characterizing part of claim 1. This advantageously makes it possible to avoid the occurrence of sharp edges, areas or the like which allow injuries to occur and which have a more or less irregular shape at the front end of the projectile replica. The projectile replica is preferably provided at its tip with a single gas outflow opening, the diameter of which is approximately 3o to 7o% of the projectile caliber.

The cartridge case is a thin-walled metal case made of e.g. Steel or brass, which has the outer shape of a caliber-compatible cartridge including the projectile body, but no cartridge bottom. Such sleeves can preferably be produced by deep drawing metal strips in suitable follow-on tools.

The cup-shaped closure element can be made of metal such as steel or brass, but also of plastic such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide or polyester. It has a preferably circular disk-shaped base and a cylindrical jacket. The floor is provided with the predetermined breaking point, for example notches arranged in a star shape. The outer diameter of the cylindrical shell is dimensioned so that a tight fit in the area of the propellant powder space of the cartridge case ge is guaranteed. The closure element, on the one hand, provides the required sealing of the propellant powder space against environmental influences and, on the other hand, the insulation required for the implementation of the propellant powder. Preferred is an embodiment according to claim 2, which enables a particularly advantageous "wedging" of the closure element in the area directly on the conical sleeve shoulder.

The closure element is inserted into the predetermined position from the rear open end of the cartridge case. It is preferably oriented in such a way that the free edge of its cylindrical jacket points to the rear. After the propellant powder has been poured into the cartridge case, the separate metallic base piece is inserted into its rear open end and connected to it by pinching, gluing or in another suitable manner. The materials suitable for the production of the metallic base piece are deformable metals such as steel, brass, zinc and aluminum.

When the shot is fired, the closure element opens at the predetermined breaking point under the effect of the powder gases formed when the propellant powder burns up, so that they can escape and initiate the weapon function. Here, the cartridge case is no longer deformed in the area of the projectile replica. By moving the target opening point into the interior of the cartridge according to the invention, the risk of injury from the ejected cartridge body is reduced to a minimum.

All weapons, for which the use of the maneuvering cartridge according to the invention is intended, are designed so that the maneuvering cartridge, including the projectile replica, can be ejected properly from the breech of the weapon.

The two-part design of the cartridge case by means of the base piece inserted into the cartridge case offers the additional advantage in the embodiment with a smaller sleeve wall thickness and a heavier base piece that the center of gravity of the cartridge is shifted further back compared to the conventional practice cartridges. The result of this is that when the training cartridge according to the invention is ejected from the weapon, it comes to spin faster and therefore falls to the ground more quickly. The consequence of this in turn is a lower risk of injury during practice shooting.

  • Fig. 2 shows a cross section along the line AB in Fig.1

The cartridge case 1 with the conical sleeve shoulder 2 and the hollow projectile replica 3 has, according to FIG. 1, the gas outflow opening 4 at its tip, which is free of sharp-edged edges projecting outwards. The rear end of the projectile replica on the maneuver cartridge attaches to the front end of the cylindrical case neck, the case mouth, the transition zone between the case neck and projectile replica being designated by 3a. The propellant powder space 5 of the cartridge case 1 is sealed off at the front by means of the closure element 6 with bottom 7 and cylindrical jacket 8, by the closure element being held firmly in front of the sleeve shoulder 2 by friction. To the rear, the propellant charge powder space 5 is closed by means of the separate base piece 9, which is connected to the cartridge case 1 via the reefs 10 produced by pinching. At closing the primer 12 is firmly inserted into the bottom piece. The primer serves for later ignition of the propellant charge 13, which is located in the sleeve 5.

The predetermined breaking points 11 of the closure element 6 can be seen in FIG. 2, which are embodied here in a known manner as star-shaped notches impressed into the base 7 of the metallic closure element 6. When fired, the breech element 6 bursts along the predetermined breaking points 11 without part of the breech element 6 being torn off, which could emerge from the cartridge and thus also from the weapon via the gas outflow opening 4.
