Abstract

1. Device for the attachment of one end of a wooden lath (5) to the member (6) of a supporting frame, comprising a rigid wire having a plane part (3) forming a support for the end of the lath (5) and an attachment part designed to hook onto the said member (6), characterised in that the said attachment part (1) has a curved profile corresponding to that of the member (6) and terminates in an end (2) in the form of a hook which engages in an opening (7) of the external part of the said member (6) and in that the plane part (3) is continued by a part (4) in the form of a loop.

Description

The invention relates to a device for fixing, at their ends, wooden slats on the uprights of a support frame. This support frame can be the bed frame of a non-folding bed, the seat support frame of any seat, or the bed frame of a two-fold or three-fold sofa bed mechanism.

The object of the invention is to provide great sleeping comfort in the case of a bed or of the seat in the case of a seat and, in the case of a sofa-bed mechanism, the accumulation of this improved comfort in the seat and bed positions.

Document BE-A-775 845 describes an elastic suspension member for a bed or seat, intended to secure the end of a wooden slat to the upright of a support frame. This member is constituted by a rigid wire which has a flat part forming a support for the end of the slat which ends at each end by a fixing part designed to hang on said upright.

According to the invention, the device for fixing one end of a wooden slat to the upright of a support frame consists of a rigid wire which has a flat part forming a support for the end of the slat and a fixing part designed to hang on said upright, and it is characterized in that said fixing part has a curved profile corresponding to that of the upright and ends with a hook-shaped end engaging an opening in the part outside of said upright and in that the flat part continues with a part in the form of a loop.

Thus, in the case of a use of the device according to the invention in connection with a non-folding bed or a seat, or even with a sofa-bed mechanism in the unfolded position, of the latter, the wooden slats being then arranged in the place with their ends resting on the flat intermediate parts of the corresponding fixing devices, the possibility of oscillation and sliding of the slats brings a great improvement in comfort. In addition, a synthetic coating applied to the wire. of steel constituting the fixing device prevents any unwanted noise.

In the case of a two-fold or three-fold sofa bed, it is known that, in the folded position thereof, the seat surface is then formed by wooden slats which are oriented upside down. The particular structure of the fixing device according to the invention then also allows the slats to work in this position, by sinking by pivoting the fixing devices around their parts for hooking to the uprights of the frame. We thus obtain a very flexible and very comfortable seat allowing, by the possibility of driving the slats, to benefit from all the flexibility provided by the mattress folded inside the sofa bed mechanism.

Referring to Figures 1 to 3, the fixing device shown consists of a portion of spring steel wire coated in a coating of synthetic material. The steel wire is formed so that its two ends are arranged side by side, each having a part 1 of curved profile ending in a part 2 in the form of a hook. The curved part 1 of each of the two strands of the wire is continued by a practically horizontal part 3 continuing in turn by a winding 4 whose dimensions are designed to allow the introduction and the sliding of the end of a slat of wood.

In Figures 4 to 8 there is shown the fixing of a transverse wooden slat 5 on the longitudinal uprights 6 of the box spring frame of a sofa bed, in particular on the foot part of the bed frame. In the case of Figures 4 to 6 the sofa bed is deployed, in the sleeping position, and the wooden slat 5 is therefore placed at the place (curvature up) while, in the case of Figures 7 and 8 , the sofa bed is folded up, in the sitting position, and the slat 5 used for the seat is then in the upside down position (curvature down).

As can be seen in FIGS. 4 to 6, in the lying position, each fixing device according to the invention is arranged so that its curved part 1 envelops the upper periphery of the upright 6 of the frame, the part 2 forming a hook coming to engage effectively and securely in an opening 7 formed on the outer part of the periphery of the upright 6. Through the loop 4 is introduced one end of the slat 5 which comes lean on the support part 3. It is thus understood that in the unfolded position of the sofa bed (sleeping position), the slats 5 carried by the bed base can both oscillate and slide, ensuring very good sleeping comfort . The synthetic coating of the fixing device prevents any unwanted noise during these oscillating and sliding movements.

When the sofa bed is folded up, the slat 5 shown, which then serves as a seating surface, is arranged upside down (see FIGS. 7 and 8). It will then be understood that the fixing device can pivot around its hooking part 2, under the weight applied to the seat surface, allowing the slat 5 to work and to come into the position shown in dotted lines at the Figure 7. The fastening device then allows the seat slats 5 to work upside down which ensures a very flexible and very comfortable seat, allowing thanks to the possibility of driving the slats to benefit from all the flexibility given by the mattress (not shown in the drawing) folded back into the sofa-bed mechanism.

In Figures 9 to 11 there is shown a first variant of the fixing device, in which the horizontal parts 3 of the spring steel wire, instead of being parallel to each other and close to each other, go in digerging from the curved part 1 towards the part 4 in the form of a loop to form a V.

Figures 12 to 14 show another variant of the fixing device, called a single strand, which differs from the embodiment of Figure 1 in that the curved part 1 of the device consists of a single end of the portion of spring steel wire, while the loop-shaped part 4 is formed by the other end of the wire.

Finally, in Figures 15 to 17, there is shown yet another variant of the fixing device according to which the curved part 1 of the device consists of two ends spaced from the portion of the spring steel wire which are intended to engage in two openings on the outside of the support frame.

It will be understood that the above description has been provided only by way of example, without limitation, and that additions or constructive modifications could be made to it without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims. that follow.

Claims (5)

1. Device for the attachment of one end of a wooden lath (5) to the member (6) of a supporting frame, comprising a rigid wire having a plane part (3) forming a support for the end of the lath (5) and an attachment part designed to hook onto the said member (6), characterised in that the said attachment part (1) has a curved profile corresponding to that of the member (6) and terminates in an end (2) in the form of a hook which engages in an opening (7) of the external part of the said member (6) and in that the plane part (3) is continued by a part (4) in the form of a loop.

2. Device according to claim 1, characterised by the fact that the attachment device is made of steel wire.

3. Device according to claim 2, characterised by the fact that the steel wire is coated with a coating of synthetic material.

4. Device according to any one of claims 2 and 3 characterised by the fact that it is made of steel wire with a single strand.

5. Device according to any one of claims 2 and 3 characterised by the fact that it is made of steel wire with several strands.
