Definitions
- the invention relates to a system for displaying vehicle stops of public transport with a transmitter, a receiver in the vehicle and a display unit in the vehicle.
- DE-OS 26 15 797 describes a device for transmitting information relating to motor vehicle traffic from a fixed transmitter in a motor vehicle equipped with the receiver. This device does not provide any information about the location of the transmitter's installation site, but only about the road conditions there, such as "narrowing" or "traffic jam".
- the object of the invention is to provide better information to the passengers of the vehicle about the next stop in a system of the type mentioned at the outset, without the driver being burdened thereby.
- the above object is achieved in a system of the type mentioned at the outset in that the transmitter is installed in a fixed position at the stop, that the transmitters from the different stops of the course of the vehicle emit differently coded stop signals in the vicinity of the stop, that a memory is arranged in the vehicle , in which the names of the successive stops of the course of the vehicle are stored, that when a stop signal is received, the name of this stop and / or that of the next stop is retrieved from the memory and that the name of the next stop is displayed acoustically and / or optically in plain text by the display unit outside the vicinity.
- the vehicle When the vehicle approaches a stop, it receives the coded stop signal. This is decoded in the receiver and retrieves the name of this stop and / or the name of the next stop of the vehicle course from the memory. The name of the stop reached is or remains displayed. The name of the next stop is cached and displayed when the vehicle has left the station's transmitter range. The name of the next stop then remains displayed until the vehicle has also left the next stop. In an embodiment of the invention, the name of the stop that is optically displayed since the last stop is emphasized when the stop signal of this stop is received. This can be done by flashing the display unit or by an additional automatic acoustic announcement.
- the number of storage locations in the memory and the coding options are designed for the number of stops of the course of the local transport network in question that has the most stops. It is therefore not necessary to select the memory and the coding options in such a way that all stops and all stop names of the entire traffic network in question are recorded. If the vehicle is used on a course other than the one for which its memory is programmed, only the memory needs to be replaced with a memory containing the stop names of the new course. The transmitter and receiver coding need not be changed. The same coding can be used on all courses for the 1st to Nth stops.
- a further transmitter is installed in the vehicle and a further receiver is fixed in place at the stop.
- the other receiver switches the station's transmitter.
- This enables battery operation of the stop transmitter. This is because the power consumption is significantly reduced in that the transmitter only switches on when a vehicle is approaching which wants to receive the transmission signal identifying the stop.
- the use of this configuration is particularly recommended for stops that are not connected to the electrical supply network.
- the transmission range of the transmitter of the vehicle is preferably larger than that of the transmitter of the Bus stop. It is then ensured that the station's transmitter operates when the vehicle enters its transmission area. If the vehicle leaves the transmission range of the station's transmitter, it switches to a "stand by" position.
- the receiver of the stop is preferably coupled to a clock and a display device. The time at which the vehicle left the stop is then recorded and displayed. A passenger arriving at the stop can then determine whether he is arriving late at the stop and whether it is worth waiting for the next vehicle.
- the further transmitter transmits vehicle-specific information of the arriving or arriving vehicle to the receiver of the stop. This can be the line number of the incoming vehicle, for example.
- the system can also be developed in such a way that the arrival times and / or the departure times of the vehicles approaching the stop are recorded. These actual traffic values then allow an evaluation with regard to a possible improvement of the timetable of the local transport network.
- a transmitter 1 is installed at every stop in the local transport network.
- the transmitter range is designed in such a way that it covers the immediate vicinity of the stop.
- the transmitter is, for example, an infrared or an ultrasound transmitter. It can also be an RF transmitter.
- the transmit signals of the transmitters of the individual stops are coded differently, so that the stop can be identified by the coding. It is sufficient to code differently those transmitters which are approached successively by a vehicle, for example a bus or a tram.
- the transmitters emit their transmission signals cyclically.
- the transmitter is fed from this.
- a battery 2 is provided at stations without a power supply to supply the transmitter.
- the vehicles in the local transport network are equipped with a receiver 3. This is followed by a decoder 4, which evaluates the received stop signal.
- the evaluated stop signal is compared in a comparator 5 with the content of a memory 6 in which the possible stop signals of a course and the associated station names are stored.
- the memory can be an electronic memory or a magnetic tape or card memory.
- a buffer 7 is connected downstream of the comparator 5. In this, when a stop signal is received, either the name of this stop and that of the next stop or only that of the next stop is transmitted.
- a display unit 8 is connected downstream of the buffer store 7 and is mounted in the interior of the vehicle. In addition, a further display unit can also be attached to the outside of the vehicle. The name of the stop that is approached appears on the display unit. In parallel to the display unit 8, a further display unit can be provided which acoustically announces the stop name.
- the receiver 3 switches a flip-flop 9 for each of the cyclically transmitted received signals S (see FIG. 2), the reset time constant of which is greater than the time interval between the transmission signals S.
- the flip-flop 9 is followed by a monoflop 10 which, when the Flip-flops 9 switches (see FIG. 2).
- the impulse of the monoflop 10 transfers the name of the next stop from the buffer 7 to the display unit 8.
- the vehicle has a further transmitter 11.
- the stop is equipped with a corresponding receiver 12.
- the receiver 12 receives a signal from the transmitter 11.
- the switch 13 closes, so that the transmitter 1 now in turn emits the stop signal.
- the switch 13 opens. This significantly reduces the power consumption of the transmitter. Because he only works when a vehicle is nearby.
- a clock 14 and a display unit 15 are also shown at the stop. This makes it possible to record and display the time at which the . Switch 13 has opened. This means that a person arriving at the stop receives information about when the last vehicle left the stop so that he can determine whether he came to the stop in time or late.
- the transmission signal of the transmitter 11 of the vehicle can also be encoded from a memory 16 in accordance with the line number of the vehicle.
- a corresponding decoder 17 is then connected downstream of the receiver 12 and is connected to the display unit 15. This means that information is available at the bus stop as to which vehicle is arriving. has left.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a system for displaying vehicle stops of public transport with a transmitter, a receiver in the vehicle and a display unit in the vehicle.
Such a system is described in DE-GM 82 07 556. In the case of the information device according to DE-GM 82 07 556, the line display is carried out by optoelectrical highlighting of the line point approached in each case. The transmitter for controlling the information device is installed in the vehicle itself and is operated by the driver or automatically. The actuation by the driver is undesirable because it distracts him. If the driver forgets to press the button, the wrong stop is displayed in the vehicle. Automatic actuation is unfavorable because there is no reference to the actual stop.
This device does not provide any information about the location of the transmitter's installation site, but only about the road conditions there, such as "narrowing" or "traffic jam".
The object of the invention is to provide better information to the passengers of the vehicle about the next stop in a system of the type mentioned at the outset, without the driver being burdened thereby.
According to the invention, the above object is achieved in a system of the type mentioned at the outset in that the transmitter is installed in a fixed position at the stop, that the transmitters from the different stops of the course of the vehicle emit differently coded stop signals in the vicinity of the stop, that a memory is arranged in the vehicle , in which the names of the successive stops of the course of the vehicle are stored, that when a stop signal is received, the name of this stop and / or that of the next stop is retrieved from the memory and that the name of the next stop is displayed acoustically and / or optically in plain text by the display unit outside the vicinity.
When the vehicle approaches a stop, it receives the coded stop signal.
With the system according to the invention it is achieved that the passengers can be sure about the approached or next stop. The driver does not need to do anything about this. It is also advantageous that the known distances between the stops do not have to be recorded in order to advance the display, since this easily leads to incorrect visual displays or announcements.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the number of storage locations in the memory and the coding options are designed for the number of stops of the course of the local transport network in question that has the most stops.
In a further development of the invention, a further transmitter is installed in the vehicle and a further receiver is fixed in place at the stop. The other receiver switches the station's transmitter. This enables battery operation of the stop transmitter. This is because the power consumption is significantly reduced in that the transmitter only switches on when a vehicle is approaching which wants to receive the transmission signal identifying the stop. The use of this configuration is particularly recommended for stops that are not connected to the electrical supply network. The transmission range of the transmitter of the vehicle is preferably larger than that of the transmitter of the Bus stop. It is then ensured that the station's transmitter operates when the vehicle enters its transmission area. If the vehicle leaves the transmission range of the station's transmitter, it switches to a "stand by" position.
The receiver of the stop is preferably coupled to a clock and a display device. The time at which the vehicle left the stop is then recorded and displayed. A passenger arriving at the stop can then determine whether he is arriving late at the stop and whether it is worth waiting for the next vehicle.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the further transmitter transmits vehicle-specific information of the arriving or arriving vehicle to the receiver of the stop. This can be the line number of the incoming vehicle, for example.
The system can also be developed in such a way that the arrival times and / or the departure times of the vehicles approaching the stop are recorded. These actual traffic values then allow an evaluation with regard to a possible improvement of the timetable of the local transport network.
- Figure 1 is a block diagram of the system and
- Figure 2 is a timing diagram.
A transmitter 1 is installed at every stop in the local transport network. The transmitter range is designed in such a way that it covers the immediate vicinity of the stop. The transmitter is, for example, an infrared or an ultrasound transmitter. It can also be an RF transmitter.
Die Sender strahlen ihre Sendesignale zyklisch ab.The transmit signals of the transmitters of the individual stops are coded differently, so that the stop can be identified by the coding. It is sufficient to code differently those transmitters which are approached successively by a vehicle, for example a bus or a tram. The transmitters emit their transmission signals cyclically.
At stations with power supply, the transmitter is fed from this. A
The vehicles in the local transport network are equipped with a
The
- The name of this stop can be read on the display unit 8 in the vehicle traveling to a stop. If the vehicle has approached this stop so far that it reaches the transmission range of transmitter 1, it receives stop signals S. These are processed in such a way that at least the name of the stop following the stop just approached is placed in the
buffer memory 7. At the same time, the flip-flop 9 is switched and remains switched until the vehicle leaves the transmission range of the transmitter at this stop. The flip-flop 9 then remains switched on for a short time, for example 10 s. Then it switches off so that a subsequent transmission pulse from themonoflop 10 leads to the name of the stop just left disappearing from the display and the name of the next stop being displayed.
If not only the name of the next stop, but also the name of the stop just approached is stored in the
In Figure 1, the vehicle has a
The transmission signal of the
