Claims (9)

1. Shedding mechanism for a loom, specifically a Jacquard machine with two rods (1) mounted at one end to a wire, which are reciprocable between an upper and a lower position, with flexible retaining elements (7) held at one end in a holder (8) to retain the rods (1) in an end position, whereby the rods (1) and corresponding retaining elements (7) have complementary shaped sections (5, 9) located at their free ends facing each other, which are movable into engagement with each other, and with an electromagnet having a double T-shaped core (11) with limiting flange sections (12, 13) of differing width and held between the retaining elements (7) at the holder (8) sueh that are- spective air gap is present between a flange section (13) and the retaining elements (7) to deflect the-retaining elements relative to each other and to move the respective rods (1) and retaining elements into and out of engagement, characterized in that an armature body (15), consisting of a soft metal is mounted to every retaining element (7) and is arranged such that the armature body (15) abuts on the one hand the broader upper flange section (12) and on the other hand is abuttable onto the narrower lower flange section (13), whereby the retaining elements (7) are alternately deflectable relative to each other by an up and down moving of the rods (1) such that in the deflected state the air gap between the narrower flange section (13) and the armature body (15) is decreased to a predetermined value and the armature body (15) is attracted in the excited condition of the electromagnet (10), and that the sides of the flange sections (12, 13) facing each other include an inclined surface (18) each, which is abutted by the deflected retaining element (7) with its armature body (15).
2. Mechanism according to claim 1, characterized in that a rod (1) or its corresponding retaining element (7) is provided with a projection (21) adjacent the complementary shaped section which cooperates with the other part (7) or (1), respectively, to allow adjustment of the air gap between the narrower flange section (13) and the armature bodies (15) to a predetermined value.
3. Mechanism according to claim 1, characterized in that the armature bodies (15) are mounted to the side of the retaining element (7) facing away from the electromagnet (10) and that the retaining elements (7) are provided with openings (17, 19) to allow contact between the armature bodies (15) and the flange sections (12, 13).
4. Mechanism according to claim 3, characterized in that means of not magnetizable material are provided, such that in case of the retaining element (7) being deflected a predetermined distance prevails between the narrower flange section (13) and the armature body (15) such to keep the remanence of the retaining element small.
5. Mechanism according to claim 4, characterized in that the means is a foil (22) mounted to the armature body (15) or to the surface (18) of the flange section (13).
6. Mechanism according to claim 4, characterized in that the means is an abutment (23) formed on the holder (8).
7. Mechanism according to claim 4, characterized in that the retaining element (7) consists of a stainless spring steel and that the retaining element is biased such that in the deflected condition it has a restoring force which is conditioned to the retaining force of the electromagnet (10).
8. Mechanism according to claim 1, characterized in that the holder (8) is provided with two abutment elements (20) in order to limit the movements of the retaining elements (7) in a direction away from the electromagnet (10).
9. Mechanism according to claim 1, characterized by guiding means (6a, 6b) for the rods (1) to prevent rods from deflecting during the up and downwards movement of the rods (1).
