Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for dewatering and plasticizing water-moist explosive mixtures, e.g. Powder raw materials, by means of a screw extruder with one or more screw shafts with kneading and conveying elements, a housing, possibly made up of axial sections, with a filling opening for the water-moist explosive mixture and an outlet opening arranged in its area, starting from the interior of the screw extruder, and a subsequent outlet channel for the water.
- a device for dewatering and plasticizing water-moist explosive mixtures e.g. Powder raw materials
- a housing possibly made up of axial sections, with a filling opening for the water-moist explosive mixture and an outlet opening arranged in its area, starting from the interior of the screw extruder, and a subsequent outlet channel for the water.
- Explosive mixtures e.g. fibrous powder raw materials consisting of nitrocellulose and nitroglycerin, but also peroxide-containing materials are processed in a water-moist state for safety reasons, e.g. plasticized.
- Dewatering and plasticizing are mostly carried out today with screw extruders (DE-B 28 25 567, DE-A 30 44 577), which not only enable continuous work, but also perfect processing by using defined screw geometries and a defined temperature profile over the length of the screw extruder enable. It is known to work with single or multi-shaft extruders.
- the screw shafts usually have alternating conveying sections and kneading sections in the axial direction, the water being squeezed out of the mass and the solid material being plasticized at the same time.
- the water collects in the feed area, where the unprocessed material is metered in.
- the slurry can run out in the feed area and, due to its nitroglycerin content, can pose a safety risk.
- the first-mentioned disadvantage can be remedied in the known device forming the preamble of claim 1 (for example from DE-A-2446021) in that a suction nozzle for suctioning the water is arranged in the region of the filling opening.
- the invention is based on the object of designing a screw extruder of the construction described at the outset in such a way that on the one hand no slurries occur in the feed area and on the other hand the formulation of the plasticized material is not falsified.
- This object is achieved in that the drain opening widens from the interior to the drain channel and in that a conveyor for removing the solids contained in the squeezed water is arranged.
- the conveyor is a screw coil, e.g. formed from a thick steel wire, thereby avoiding that a noteworthy pressure is exerted on the solid particles in the drainage channel even if they accumulate in large quantities.
- a noteworthy pressure is exerted on the solid particles in the drainage channel even if they accumulate in large quantities.
- clogging of the drainage channel is practically impossible.
- the measures according to the invention can also be supported in that the drainage channel is under negative pressure, which at the same time ensures that the draining mass cannot escape due to any leaks that may be present.
- a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the discharge channel is arranged approximately parallel to the axis of the screw extruder and opens out at the rear end of the housing.
- This embodiment has the advantage that any heating ducts that are also generally axially parallel are not disturbed in their arrangement by the outlet duct.
- the drain channel is formed by a tube open on the circumferential side to the drain opening, which is inserted into an axially parallel bore in the housing and receives the conveyor in its interior.
- a container for holding the water-solid mixture is expediently connected to the tube outside the housing.
- the container can optionally also serve to separate the solid particles.
- the drive of the conveyor is derived from the drive of the worm shafts.
- the conveyor is, for example, a screw helix
- a gear member reversing the direction of rotation is arranged between the drive shaft and the worm shafts. So while the screws of the extruder work in one direction, the screw shaft conveys the drainage material in the opposite direction back to the rear end of the housing.
- the derivation of the drive from the drive of the screw extruder has the advantage that no special explosion protection measures are necessary for driving the screw helix, but rather are ensured by the explosion protection of the drive of the screw extruder that is necessary anyway.
- a screw extruder 1 which can be designed as a single or multi-screw extruder.
- the screw extruder 1 has a housing 2, which is optionally made up of a plurality of axial sections, of which the drawing shows the first section 3 in the feed direction of the screw extruder.
- a radially extending filling opening 4 is arranged in this feed region.
- the drive shaft 6 is led into the interior 7 through the rear end face 5 of the housing. There it has a conveying section in the form of a screw 8, which exerts only a small pressing effect on the metered material.
- the apex 9 of the screw flight is designed as a sealing profile, while the screw base 10 has a concave shell shape.
- the worm shaft 6 is driven by an explosion-proof drive 11, not shown in detail. It is preferably a double-shaft extruder, the second shaft being located in front of or behind the screw shaft 6. This can be the same or the opposite.
- the housing 2 is provided in its rear section 3 with a drain opening 12 which is approximately opposite the filling opening 4 in its front area.
- the drain opening 12 has an outwardly conically widening wall 13 and opens into a cylindrical drain channel 14 which runs axially parallel to the screw shafts 6 and extends from the rear end face 5 of the housing section 3.
- a conveying element 15 in the form of a screw spiral is arranged within the outlet channel 14 and is driven at its outer end via a gear member 16 by the drive 11 of the screw shafts in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the screw, i.e. the helical coil 15 conveys the water reaching the drain channel 14 through the drain opening 12 with the solid particles to the rear.
- the drain channel 14 is formed by a tube 17 which is inserted into an axially parallel bore 18 in the housing section 3.
- the conveyor 15 is in turn arranged in the form of a helical coil within the tube.
- the tube 17 has at its end in the housing a peripheral opening 19 which, when inserted, lies approximately below the drain opening 12.
- the tube 17 is tightly connected outside the housing 2 of the screw extruder 1 to a collecting container 19 ', through which the drive shaft 20 of the screw coil is passed.
- the collecting container 19 ' can optionally be under negative pressure, which is generated, for example, by an oil or water jet pump.
- the device according to the invention can work with an appropriate length and corresponding structure of the individual sections of the screws as an extruder, that is to say for the immediate production of one or more extruded profiles from the water-moist mass, or can only work as a screw press with a short process length, the dewatered and plasticized product is further processed in subsequent process stages.
