- the upper transverse thread 7 of the lower fabric layer 2 is tied with the longitudinal thread 3, which is omitted from the transverse thread 6 of the upper fabric layer 1.
- This exchange is repeated at regular intervals, e.g. once within each binding repeat or within every second or third binding repeat.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a composite fabric as a covering for the sheet formation area of a paper machine according to the preamble of
Fabrics for the sheet formation area of a paper machine, so-called paper machine screens, are often constructed from two or three fabric layers, which are in themselves complete fabrics and are connected to one another by additional binding threads. The bottom fabric layer is made of relatively coarse threads because it absorbs the abrasion. The uppermost fabric layer, which carries the paper fiber fleece, on the other hand, is made up of finer threads in order not to cause any marks in the paper. This structure was expected to have a low marking risk on the one hand and a long service life and stability on the other. In practice, however, this expectation has so far not been met.
In a composite fabric according to the preamble of
From CA-PS 711 428 and European patent application 0 044 053 it is known to connect two fabric layers to one another in that the transverse threads of the lower fabric layer are interwoven at regular intervals with the longitudinal threads of the upper fabric layer, special binding cross threads not being used will. With composite fabrics of this type, however, the risk of marking is very high.
The invention has for its object to provide a composite fabric as a covering for the sheet formation area of a paper machine, which has a long runtime with low marking.
This object is achieved by the characterizing feature of
A particularly firm connection of the fabric layers is achieved by the configuration of the invention according to
In general, the composite fabric consists of two layers of fabric, the top fabric layer, which is the paper side. is a single-layer fabric, for example in plain weave. The bottom fabric layer, which forms the running side of the paper machine screen, is generally a two-layer or a double-layer fabric. For achieving a fixed connection as possible of the two fabric layers are the cross threads of the upper fabric layer and the upper cross threads of the lower fabric layer at regular A bstän- the reversed in its course or integrated into the other fabric layer. The exchange or integration generally extends over a distance of a few longitudinal threads, for example over a distance of 3 longitudinal threads. Preferably each is cross thread integrated into the neighboring fabric layer in this way. In individual cases, however, it may also be sufficient to weave only every second, third or fourth transverse thread into the fabric layer above or below.
If a fabric layer has several layers of transverse threads, generally only the transverse threads of the outer layers are bound into an adjacent fabric layer.
The composite fabric according to the invention is preferably woven flat (= open), but can also be woven round.
As is usual with paper machine clothing, the longitudinal threads and the transverse threads consist of polyester monofilament. The L ängsfäden and in particular the transverse threads of the lowermost fabric layer, which forms the running side, however, may exist because of its higher abrasion resistance also of a polyamide monofilament.
The longer running time of the composite fabric according to the invention as paper machine clothing should be due to the fact that the large number of binding points between the individual fabric layers means that these are very firmly connected to one another and thus e.g. do not perform any relative movement when deflecting around rollers. There is therefore no risk that the transverse threads connecting the fabric layers are exposed to a particular abrasion or a high tensile load due to a relative movement of the layers.
In the composite fabric according to the invention, the individual fabric layers are not connected by special binding threads, but rather by the so-called structural threads Cross threads, ie the cross threads that are involved in the formation of the weave in the usual way. At certain intervals, these structural transverse threads are incorporated into a neighboring fabric layer, in deviation from the weave design. In order to avoid deviations in the appearance of the uppermost fabric layer, ie on the paper side, when connecting to the uppermost fabric layer, there is preferably a partial exchange of the transverse threads with the underlying fabric layer.
Es zeigenEmbodiment of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. Show it
Fig. 1 to 4 each have a composite fabric in section along the transverse threads.
Fig. 1 shows a composite fabric, in which the
To avoid marking errors, the
The connection of the two

Fig. 3 shows an embodiment similar to that of Fig. 2, wherein the cross thread of the
In the case of a flat or open woven paper machine fabric, the transverse threads are the weft threads and the longitudinal threads are the warp threads, while in the case of a round woven paper machine fabric the cross threads, the warp threads and the longitudinal threads are the weft threads.
Within the scope of the invention, the connection of two or more fabric webs, which are complete fabrics in themselves, can also be carried out by partially integrating the longitudinal threads of one fabric layer into an adjacent fabric layer or by exchanging longitudinal threads of two adjacent fabric layers. The disadvantage here, however, is that the longitudinal threads are under tensile stress during heat setting and during use in the paper machine. This makes it difficult to maintain the uniform surface structure on the paper side of the paper machine wire. The transverse threads, on the other hand, are a type of filling material that is relatively little affected by the longitudinal tension exerted on the paper machine screen. When heat-setting, they lie transverse to the longitudinal stress exerted and form a homogeneous topographical structure despite the deviation from the original course. The situation is similar for round-woven paper machine screens, since tension is exerted on the transverse threads, which are then the warp threads, during weaving. The least trouble therefore occur in this regard if the composite fabric according to the invention is woven flat and the connection is made by the transverse threads.
In the exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing, the upper fabric layer is single-ply and the lower fabric is double-ply. However, the composite fabric can also consist of a double-layer upper fabric layer and a single-layer lower fabric layer or of two double-layer or multi-layer fabric layers. A composite fabric made of two single-layer fabric layers is also possible, but in this case the different diameters of the transverse threads can have a disruptive effect on the structure of the paper side.

The
