Eine Kontaktmatte, von der die vorliegende Erfindung insbesondere ausgeht, ist in der DE-GMS 19 71 111 offenbart. Bei solchen Kontaktmatten wird beim Betreten der Matte eine Druckwelle in dem im Schlauch eingeschlossenen Fluid, insbesondere Druckluft, erzeugt und über die Länge des Schlauches zu einem angeschlossenen Druckwellenschalter geleitet. Die eigentliche Kontaktmatte 1 besteht aus einer Grundplatte aus mit Hypalon beschichtetem Treviragewebe dreifach, einer Zwischenmatte aus Zellkautschuk, sowie einer Abdeckplatte, die ebenfalls aus einem mit Hypalon beschichtetem Treviragewebe besteht. Für die Grundplatte und die Abdeckplatte sind jedoch auch andere Materialien möglich, beispielsweise Gummiplatten, Gummiriefenplatten oder Aluminiumnoppenblech. Wichtig ist, daß die Kontaktmatte gut auf ihrer Unterlage haftet und der auf ihr stehenden Person ausreichende Rutschsicherheit gewährleistet. Am Außenumfang ist die Kontaktmatte mit einem Tesaband oder dergleichen eingefaßt. Die Kontaktmatte ist im Beispiel eine rechteckige, vorzugsweise quadratische Platte. In dieser Platte sind zwei konzentrisch zueinander und spiralförmig angeordnete Druckwellenschlauchabschnitte 2,3 eingelegt. Sie sind mit ihren einen Enden in der Mitte der Kontaktmatte zusammengeführt, während ihre beiden anderen Enden im Bereich einer Mattenseite nahe einer Mattenecke aus der Kontaktmatte herausgeführt sind und so eine Kontaktmatte mit zwei Ausgängen gegeben ist. Der Durchmesser des Druckwellenschlauches 2,3 ist größer als die Dicke der Kontakmatte 1.
