If the chain pulling and braking device is arranged in front of the take-up reel, it is a special embodiment that the device is adjusted according to the constantly changing entry angle of the incoming strip. Die Stützrollen 5 übertragen einmal die Drehmomente und stützen die Segmente 4 im Mitnahmebereich über Führungsleisten 6a mit Stützkurven 6 in Ein- und Auslauf ab und verspannen das Band 1 durch jeweils gegenüberliegende Kettensegmente 4 über die Segmentbeschichtung 7, die als elastischer Belag 11 mit einer Profilierung 12 ausgeführt sein kann. Das untere Kettensystem 4b ist feststehend, während das obere Kettensystem 4a anstellbar ist. Die Anpreßkräfte sind regelbar. Die Vorspannung der Ketten erfolgt mittels Zylinder 8, der ein geführtes Lagergehäuse 9 verschiebt. Die oszillierend drehende Bürste 10 entfernt alle möglichen Verunreinigungen und Anhaftungen der Kontaktflächen. Eine besondere Anwendungsform sieht vor, daß das feststehende Kettensystem.als Schwingenkonstruktion 13 ausgebildet wird. Hiermit wird erreicht ,daß die Kettenzieh- und -bremsvorrichtung entsprechend dem einlaufenden Band auf einen bestimmten Winkel schräggestellt werden kann. Der Steuerrahmen 14 hat die Aufgabe, falls das Band nicht unter 90° auf die Segmente 4 aufläuft, die gesamte Kettenzieh- und -bremsvorrichtung in Bandebene zu verdrehen, bis der rechtwinklige Bandeinlauf wieder hergestellt ist.
