Description

The present invention relates to a furniture structure and in particular, a shelving structure in which it is possible to continuously and precisely adjust the height of its shelves.

Shelving structures of this type are already widely known, in various constructive forms. They are based on the general concept of using uprights or load-bearing side structures, on which are anchored, hooked and / or built into shelves. In order to be able to compose such structures according to the wishes of the user, the anchoring of the shelves to the lateral structures is effected by fixing means which often have a double function: that of supporting the shelf and that of internal connection of the structure ensuring its stiffening.

A common characteristic of all these shelving is that the fixing means provided on the shelves cooperate with corresponding fixing means, provided at regular intervals along the uprights; this is why the height adjustment of the shelves is necessarily carried out according to preset positions, which do not always correspond to the wishes of the user.

Another drawback of these shelving is due to the fact that the height adjustment of the shelves is not always carried out with simplicity and speed, and that often the fixing means are relatively complex and expensive.

The present invention relates to a shelving structure or, more generally, a shelving structure, which solves these problems and presents, in particular, extremely simple and inexpensive fixing means, which offer inter alia the possibility of adjusting the shelves at any desired height, independent of the prefixed positions of the relative fixing means.

This result is obtained - in a shelving of the type comprising at least two main vertical support uprights and a plurality of shelves supported by brackets attached to the uprights, each console being formed by a lever with two arms, including a first horizontal arm supporting the shelf and a second arm at an angle to the first arm, said second arm carrying two protuberances each supported on one of the opposite vertical sides of the upright, the lower protrusion on the side of the shelf and the upper protrusion on the opposite side (see FR-A-429 919) - by the fact that the second arm is oblique to the first horizontal arm, which is integral with one of the lateral ends of the shelves, and that the two protrusions of each of the second oblique arms are in the shape of a tenon.

  • les figures 1 et 2 sont deux vues schémati-. ques, respectivement de face et de côté, du rayonnage selon l'invention ;
  • les figures 3, 4 et 5 en illustrent l'emploi, respectivement avec des montants ancrés au mur, avec des étagères en forme de table, et avec des étagères de chaque côté des montants ;
The other characteristics and advantages of the structure of the invention appear in the following description of a preferred embodiment, illustrated by the attached drawings, in which:
  • Figures 1 and 2 are two schematic views. ques, respectively from the front and from the side, of the shelving according to the invention;
  • FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 illustrate the use thereof, respectively with uprights anchored to the wall, with shelves in the form of a table, and with shelves on each side of the uprights;
  • Figures 6, 7 and 8 show, on an enlarged scale, the detail of the means for fixing the shelves to the uprights, respectively in side view, in front view and in top view; and
  • Figure 9 is a schematic axial section of one of the studs constituting the fixing means.

As illustrated, the shelving consists, in a known manner, of two main uprights 1, provided with base 2 for support (Figures 1, 2, 4 and 5), or directly fixed to the wall (Figure 3), possibly joined together by stiffening crosspieces 3, the shelves 4 hanging on these uprights.

Le bras 5b, oblique, a au contraire la fonction de moyen de fixation au montant 1.According to the invention, each shelf is supported by a pair of consoles 5, each of which is formed by a lever with two arms 5a and 5b (Figure 6). The arm 5a, horizontal, has the support function of the shelf 4. The arm 5b, oblique, on the contrary has the function of means of attachment to the upright 1.

Two pins 6 and 7 are fixed to the arm 5b of the console 5, directed in a direction, essentially perpendicular to the plane of the arm 5b itself, these pins pressing on each side on the upright 1 (as can be clearly seen in the figures 6 to 8). More specifically, the lower post 6 is supported on the upright 1 on the side of the shelf 4, while the post 7 is supported on the upright 1 on the opposite side.

As can be seen with such an arrangement, the weight of the shelf is sufficient to transmit to the arm 5b a torque moment which results in a pressure of the two studs 6 and 7 on the upright 1. The more the weight applied to the he shelf is important, the greater the force with which the pins 6 and 7 are pressed against the upright 1. This force is therefore in any case sufficient - as confirmed by practical tests - to ensure the anchoring of the shelf on the upright.

It is clear that such an arrangement does not require any prefixed position of the shelves along the height of the upright. Indeed the shelf can be moved to any position by simply lifting it by its front edge 4a, pivoting on the tenon 6, so as to tilt it slightly counterclockwise. As soon as the shelf is released, it rests on the upright with the pins 6 and 7 and remains in place in the same position.

To secure the shelf more securely on the upright, it may be appropriate to produce the surfaces in cooperation of the studs 6 and 7 and, respectively, of the uprights 1, in materials having a coefficient of friction with respect to the other chosen accordingly. For example, if the upright is made of iron, the pins 6 and 7 could be made as illustrated in FIG. 9, with an iron core 8, provided with a coating 9 of hard rubber. Otherwise, the studs can be made completely of iron, possibly with a knurled surface, while the upright can present - all along its profile with which the studs 6 and 7 are in contact - a list of rubber or plastic, smooth or preferably notched.

In FIG. 7, an additional safety blocking device has been shown diagrammatically to prevent - in the event of an accidental blow, from bottom to top, on the front edge 4a of the shelf - the latter may slide towards the bottom. In the embodiment shown, this blocking device is simply constituted by a friction pad 15, which is pressed against the upright 1 by means of a screw 16 screwed into a threaded hole in the arm 5b.

While Figures 1 to 3 show the shelving structure with a series of normal shelves, Figures 4 and 5 show that the fixing means according to the invention lend themselves to the production of shelves with special functions: thus the shelf 10 has the function of a table, the shelf 11 has the function of a desk, the shelf 12 has the function of a stool, or the shelf 13 has the function of a display stand for exhibitions.

Although this invention has been described with specific reference to shelving, it is clear that a technician in the sector will have no difficulty in applying the inventive concept of this fastening system to different furniture structures: for example for the manufacture of a chair or a sofa with the seat plane adjustable in height, for the manufacture of projecting bunk beds, school benches, systems for desks or equipment for exhibitions, in particular for stores, or other applications that one can easily imagine, without departing from the scope of the invention.
