Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention is based on a headlamp, in particular for motor vehicles, according to the first part of claim 1. Such a headlamp is known from DE-A No. 2826307, whose paraboloid-shaped horizontal sector concentrates the proportion of light beams of relatively high intensity in the far area of the road while the upper and lower sectors with a smaller focal length illuminate the near area of the road with a relatively large luminous flux.

It has been found in practice that the illumination of the close range does not have the originally assumed advantage for the road users. In addition, modern headlights must have a large horizontal scatter of the light beam, which in turn requires a strongly scattering optics on the headlight lens.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

According to the invention, the features set out in the characterizing part of claim 1 solve the problem set out in the above prior art using technically simple means. The portion of the light beam that conventionally illuminates the near area of the roadway is raised and used for illuminating the far area, namely over a relatively large width or in the area of the low-light limit of the low beam. In addition, the road is also adequately illuminated even when cornering. When using strongly vertically inclined diffusers there is the advantage that the reflector already scatters the light beam in the horizontal direction, avoiding the disadvantage that the light beam falls downward with increasing side scatter.

With the design of the headlamp according to claim 2, the spiral images of the low beam are lowered below the light-dark limit. A side scatter of the large light-weaker helix images with simultaneous concentration of the bright, smaller helix images around the intersection of the horizontal with the vertical and thus a relatively broad beam of light results in the further development of the headlamp with the features of one of claims 3 or 4.

Beschreibung des AusführungsbeispielesDescription of the embodiment

The center sector 102 is arranged symmetrically to the horizontal meridian section plane 105 and is part of a paraboloid of revolution with a relatively large focal length. The two sectors 103, 104 are symmetrical to the vertical meridian section plane 106 and are part of an envelope, the vertical section of which is a parabola and the horizontal section of which is an ellipse. Both sectors 103, 104 delimit a section 107 parallel to the horizontal meridian section plane 105. The middle sector 102 and both sectors 103, 104 connect flat surfaces 108 which are arranged radially with respect to the optical axis 109 of the reflector 101. In the apex area of the reflector 101, an opening 110 has been cut out for receiving an incandescent lamp (not shown) with a luminous element for generating a light beam.

The intersection curves resulting from the intersection of planes perpendicular to the axis 109 of the reflector 101 with the reflection surface of the upper and lower sectors 103, 104 are ellipse segments whose semiaxes are perpendicular to the axis 109 of the reflector and whose semiaxis of the ellipse lies in the horizontal central plane.

The left and right halves of the upper and lower sectors 103, 104, which result from the intersection of the upper and lower sectors with the vertical meridian section plane 106, are slightly unfolded about the axis 111 which is arranged at right angles to the horizontal meridian section plane 105 and through the reflector apex goes (z-axis). If, on the other hand, the horizontal meridian section of the envelope is a hyperbola, the left and right halves of the upper and lower sectors 103, 104, which result from the intersection of both sectors with the vertical meridian section plane 106, are slightly folded over one another about the axis 111 that is perpendicular to the horizontal meridian section plane 105 is arranged and goes through the reflector apex (z-axis).
