Description

The invention relates to a holder for a pipe cleaner, around which a twisted piece of Chenille wire filled with textile thread or fiber pieces can be wound, consisting of a cylindrical support body, in the outer surface of which there is at least one helically extending groove and which has a device on at least one end for securing the chenille wire piece against twisting.

Such a holder is known from GB A 394156. It has the shape of a door key without a beard, the shaft, which is uniform in diameter, has a helical groove and has a notch at its free end into which the end of a piece of Chenille wire can be inserted and which thus acts to prevent rotation.

As is known, pipes have narrow channels for the passage of smoke, which are relatively easy to clean with the aforementioned Chenille wire pieces. In addition to the narrow immersion channels, pipes are also known to have bores with a larger diameter, which serve on the one hand to hold filters and on the other hand to hold the pipe mouthpiece. To clean these holes of different widths, the chenille wire would have to be wound on its holder to different diameters. However, it is difficult with the known holder to wind up the chenille wire to a diameter large enough that the mouthpiece receiving portion of the pipe bowl can be filled.

Pipe cleaners have also become known which consist of a blade-like holder attached to a handle, to which the cleaning material is attached in the form of an absorbent thread or a piece of Chenille wire, which is then supported along the blade-like holder by the latter (GB-PS 605 608 , U.S. Patent 2,487,676, U.S. Patent 2,388,016, U.S. Patent 1246710). All of these pipe cleaners are exclusively those for cleaning the relatively fine immersion channels with a very small diameter, but not for cleaning the bores with a larger diameter, for which the pipe cleaner designed according to the invention is to be used exclusively.

The invention has for its object to provide a holder for a pipe cleaner, with the help of which it is possible to easily clean the larger bores of a pipe in a simple manner in order to be able to largely remove the deposits accumulating there, in a more perfect manner and easier way than was previously possible.

This object is achieved according to the present invention in that the support body has a section of larger diameter and an adjacent section of smaller diameter, the anti-rotation device is formed by a radial or axial bore for receiving one end of the Chenille wire piece and a hook arranged in the region of the end face of the support body , and that the outer surfaces of the support body are provided with a corrugation or the like.

With this holder, the Chenille wire piece is attached to one end of the cylindrical support body and from there is first bent over its end face and then helically over its outer surface. In order to secure the position of the chenille wire piece on the support body, this has at least one helical groove in its lateral surface, which begins at one of the end faces and which serves to partially accommodate the chenille wire piece bent helically around the support body, as well as a bore in the area of at least the one end of the support body which serves to receive one end of the chenille wire piece in order to fix it. The slope of this groove or the grooves can be small at the beginning, but then become increasingly larger, so that the chenille wire piece is wound more tightly at the outer end, in order thereby to effect a good cleaning of the bores at their inner ends. In order to hold the chenille wire better and more securely at the ends of the cylindrical support body, there is a small hook or a catch or the like in the area of the end face.

As pipes are known to have larger bores in two different diameters, the cylindrical support body of the holder designed according to the invention has a part with a larger diameter at one end and a part with a smaller diameter at its other end.

In order to facilitate the handling, in particular the turning, of the pipe cleaner, the lateral surfaces of the support body are corrugated, so that it can be pushed more easily into the bores.

Such a pipe cleaner ensures a good cleaning of the wall surfaces of larger holes, because the short fiber or thread pieces of the Chenille wire piece, which is supported relatively close to the wall of the hole by the cylindrical support body, ensure better cleaning, and an equally good as that of the narrow smoke channels in the pipes.

- Twisted Chenill wire piece 12, which is attached to the support body 11 in the region of the end face 13 and from there over the end face 13 and is then wound helically around the support body 11. The support body 11 consists of a part 11 with a larger diameter 0 and a part 11 b with a smaller diameter d. In the vicinity of the end faces 13 and 14 there is a hole 15a and 15b for fastening one end 16 of the Chenille wire piece 12. In the circumferential surface of the support body 11, which is provided with corrugations, there are helically arranged grooves 17a and 17b, into which the Chenille wire piece 12 wound helically around the support body 11 partially protrudes so that it is fixed during axial movements when cleaning the bores in the pipe head or in the pipe mouthpiece and cannot shift.

As can be seen from FIG. 3, there is a hook 18 at the outer end of the support body 11, around which the end of the chenille wire piece inserted into the bore 15 runs before it is wound onto the cylindrical outer surface of the support body 11.
