Definitions
- the invention relates to a pipe cleaner which consists of a piece of chenille wire which is known per se and is usually used for cleaning the smoke ducts in pipes and which is covered with textile thread or fiber pieces arranged transversely to two twisted wires, and a holder which supports this and on which the chenille wire piece is attached.
- pipes have narrow channels for the passage of smoke, which can be cleaned relatively well with the aforementioned Chenille wire pieces.
- pipes are also known to have bores with a larger diameter, which serve on the one hand to hold filters and on the other hand to hold the pipe mouthpiece.
- pipe cleaners have already become known (DE-GM 79 23 918), which also consist of a piece of chenille wire, but the textile thread or fiber pieces that are incorporated into the twisted chenille wire are because of this relatively large diameter of the holes much longer than those of the pipe cleaners for the narrower smoke channels in the pipes.
- Pipe cleaners have also become known which consist of a blade-like holder attached to a handle, to which the cleaning material is attached in the form of an absorbent thread or a piece of Chenille wire, which is then supported along the blade-like holder by the latter (GB-PS 608 608 , U.S. Patent 2,487,676, U.S. Patent 2,388,016, U.S. Patent 1,246,710). All of these pipe cleaners are exclusively for cleaning the relatively fine smoke channels with a very small diameter, but not for cleaning the bores with a larger diameter, for which the pipe cleaner designed according to the invention is to be used exclusively.
- the invention has for its object to provide a pipe cleaner, with the aid of which it is possible to effortlessly clean the larger bores of a pipe in a simple manner in order to largely remove the deposits accumulating there, in a more perfect and simple manner than was previously possible.
- the pipe cleaner of the type in question in such a way that the holder consists of a cylindrical support body, in the lateral surface of which there is at least one helically extending groove, on which the chenille wire piece is wound in a helical manner from one end is that the chenille wire is partially in the groove.
- the Chenille wire piece is attached to one end of the cylindrical support body and from there it is first bent over its end face and then helically over its outer surface.
- this has at least one helical groove in its lateral surface, which begins at one of the end faces and which serves to partially accommodate the chenille wire piece bent helically around the support body, as well as a bore in the area of at least the one end of the support body which serves to receive one end of the chenille wire piece in order to fix it.
- this groove or of the grooves can be small at first, but then become increasingly larger, so that the chenille wire piece is wound more tightly at the outer end, in order thereby to bring about a good cleaning of the bores at their inner ends.
- the cylindrical support body of the pipe cleaner designed according to the invention preferably has a part with a larger diameter at one end and a part with a smaller diameter at its other end.
- the lateral surfaces of the support body are corrugated, so that it can be pushed more easily into the bores.
- Such a pipe cleaner ensures a good cleaning of the wall surfaces of larger holes, because the short fiber or thread pieces of the Chenille wire piece, which is supported relatively close to the wall of the hole by the cylindrical support body, ensure better cleaning, and an equally good as that of the narrow smoke channels in the pipes.
- the pipe cleaner designed according to the invention consists, as can be seen in FIG. 1, of the cylindrical support body 11 and the twisted chenille wire piece 12 fastened to it and covered with textile thread or fiber pieces, which is attached to the support body 11 in the region of the end face 13 and from there is wound over the end face 13 and then helically around the support body 11.
- the support body 11 consists of a part 11a with a larger diameter D and a part 11b with a smaller diameter d. In the vicinity of the end faces 13 and 14 there is a hole 15a and 15b for fastening one end 16 of the Chenille wire piece 12.
- FIG. 3 there is preferably a hook 18 at the outer end of the support body 11 ', around which the end of the chenille wire piece inserted into the bore 15' runs before it is wound onto the cylindrical outer surface of the support body 11 '.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a pipe cleaner which consists of a piece of chenille wire which is known per se and is usually used for cleaning the smoke ducts in pipes and which is covered with textile thread or fiber pieces arranged transversely to two twisted wires, and a holder which supports this and on which the chenille wire piece is attached.
As is well known, pipes have narrow channels for the passage of smoke, which can be cleaned relatively well with the aforementioned Chenille wire pieces. In addition to the narrow smoke channels, pipes are also known to have bores with a larger diameter, which serve on the one hand to hold filters and on the other hand to hold the pipe mouthpiece. In order to be able to clean these larger bores, pipe cleaners have already become known (DE-GM 79 23 918), which also consist of a piece of chenille wire, but the textile thread or fiber pieces that are incorporated into the twisted chenille wire are because of this relatively large diameter of the holes much longer than those of the pipe cleaners for the narrower smoke channels in the pipes. The disadvantage of such known pipe cleaners is that due to their length and the insufficient pressure on the surface to be cleaned, the cleaning effect is relatively poor. While attempts have been made to improve the poor effect by adding stronger and stiffer plastic fiber pieces to the textile fiber pieces in order to support the softer textile fiber pieces, this has not brought about any appreciable improvement. This is confirmed by the fact that pipe cleaners of the latter type are unsatisfactory in practice.
Pipe cleaners have also become known which consist of a blade-like holder attached to a handle, to which the cleaning material is attached in the form of an absorbent thread or a piece of Chenille wire, which is then supported along the blade-like holder by the latter (GB-PS 608 608 , U.S.
The invention has for its object to provide a pipe cleaner, with the aid of which it is possible to effortlessly clean the larger bores of a pipe in a simple manner in order to largely remove the deposits accumulating there, in a more perfect and simple manner than was previously possible.
To solve this problem, it is proposed to design the pipe cleaner of the type in question in such a way that the holder consists of a cylindrical support body, in the lateral surface of which there is at least one helically extending groove, on which the chenille wire piece is wound in a helical manner from one end is that the chenille wire is partially in the groove.
In this pipe cleaner, the Chenille wire piece is attached to one end of the cylindrical support body and from there it is first bent over its end face and then helically over its outer surface. In order to secure the position of the chenille wire piece on the support body, this has at least one helical groove in its lateral surface, which begins at one of the end faces and which serves to partially accommodate the chenille wire piece bent helically around the support body, as well as a bore in the area of at least the one end of the support body which serves to receive one end of the chenille wire piece in order to fix it.
The slope of this groove or of the grooves can be small at first, but then become increasingly larger, so that the chenille wire piece is wound more tightly at the outer end, in order thereby to bring about a good cleaning of the bores at their inner ends. In order to hold the chenille wire better and more securely at the ends of the cylindrical support body, there is preferably a small hook or a catch or the like in the area of the end face.
Since pipes are known to have larger bores in two different diameters, the cylindrical support body of the pipe cleaner designed according to the invention preferably has a part with a larger diameter at one end and a part with a smaller diameter at its other end.
In order to facilitate the handling, in particular the turning, of the pipe cleaner, the lateral surfaces of the support body are corrugated, so that it can be pushed more easily into the bores.
Such a pipe cleaner ensures a good cleaning of the wall surfaces of larger holes, because the short fiber or thread pieces of the Chenille wire piece, which is supported relatively close to the wall of the hole by the cylindrical support body, ensure better cleaning, and an equally good as that of the narrow smoke channels in the pipes.
- Fig. 1 eine perspektivische Ansicht des neuartigen Pfeifenreinigers;
- Fig. 2 eine Seitenansicht des zylindrischen Stützkörpers für den Pfeifenreiniger nach Fig. 1;
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the novel pipe cleaner.
- Fig. 2 is a side view of the cylindrical support body for the pipe cleaner according to Fig. 1;
- Fig. 3 is a plan view of the end face of the support body in a further embodiment.
The pipe cleaner designed according to the invention consists, as can be seen in FIG. 1, of the
As is apparent from FIG. 3, there is preferably a
