Description

The present invention relates to a device for controlling the load of a self-elevating platform, said platform comprising several mobile assemblies having drive pinions meshing on racks secured to the piles,
  • - said moving parts each having at least one upper support structure and at least one lower support structure,
  • - the upper support structures resting on lifting beams secured to the platform, when the piles rest on the bottom and that said platform is raised above water,
  • - the lower support structures resting on the platform to keep the piles raised when the platform floats on water.

It is known that in platforms of this type used for drilling at sea, the holding of the soil under the feet of the piers poses a problem. This is why it is known to apply a high load called preload on each of the piles when installing the platform to ensure that the soil resists sufficiently.

The simplest method for applying this preload is to release the force on certain stacks by lifting these stacks slightly with the aid of the moving parts, which has the effect of transferring the charge to the other stacks.

In this case it is necessary to be able to measure the charge on each of the batteries.

Likewise, during operation, it is useful to maintain the same charge on the various batteries, the charge adjustment being able, here again, to be achieved by lowering the moving parts of the excessively charged battery. But for this it is necessary to be able to continuously measure the charge on the various batteries.

It is known from document FR-A 2 312 603 which describes the platform of this type of having between the upper surfaces of the movable assemblies and the associated spreaders cylinders whose bodies are integral with said spreaders.

In this platform, the spreaders are weakened in a part where they have to work, and moreover, the force on these jacks is very high under the effect of the elastic deformations of the spreaders and the construction tolerances and of the clearances between the piles and their guides.

The device for measuring the load on the piles of a jack-up platform according to the invention which does not have these drawbacks is characterized in that it comprises, between each upper support structure and the associated lifting beam, a cushion hydraulic housed in housing means guided by guide means, the housing means and the guide means being integral with one of the lifting beam, the other with said upper support structure and being arranged so as to allow the stack to take a slightly inclined position with respect to the platform, and in that the hydraulic cushions associated with all the upper support structures of the mobile assemblies of a stack are connected, on the one hand, to each other and, on the other hand, to means sensitive to the pressure of the fluid inside the cushions and displaying a quantity representative of the charge of the battery considered.

The hydraulic cushions of the same stack, their accommodation means associated with the guide means, adapt very easily between the lifting mechanism and the spreaders without requiring a large arrangement of spreaders. In addition, they give this joint a ball joint function which allows the stack to take a slight inclination relative to the platform.

The pressure-sensitive means may be a pressure gauge graduated in units of load.

When the amount of fluid inside the cushion is constant, the spreader cushion contact surface is practically independent of load variations. It follows that the load varies almost linearly with the pressure, the pressure gauge can then be a conventional pressure gauge with linear graduations.

On the other hand, when the cushions are connected to a hydropneumatic accumulator, the load no longer varies linearly with the pressure, but this variation curve can be determined experimentally, because it is either necessary to convert the results of pressure into units of load, either to calibrate the manometer non-linearly in units of load, or to vary the quantity detected according to the pressure / load curve to continue to be able to read the load on a dial graduated linearly.

The present invention will be better understood with the aid of the description which follows, in which:
  • FIG. 1 schematically represents a platform of the barge type with its batteries allowing the application of a device according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 shows a stack of the platform according to Figure 1 with its mobile equipment.

In Figure 1, there is shown schematically, in top view, a platform of the barge type.

The platform 1 comprises four cylindrical stacks 2 movable vertically with respect to the platform.

In Figure 2, there is shown a stack with its two mobile equipment.

The stack 2 comprises two double racks 4 in T, integral with said stack, each rack 4 being associated with a movable assembly 5.

L'équipage mobile 5 est représenté vue de côté sur la figure 3.The moving element 5 is shown side view in FIG. 3.

Cet équipage mobile 5 comporte des pignons moteurs 6 coopérant avec chaque élément 7 de la crémaillère double 4.This moving element 5 comprises driving pinions 6 cooperating with each element 7 of the double rack 4.

At the top of the mobile assembly 5 are arranged two elastic cushions 8 made of steel-rubber laminate each terminated by a upper support structure 9.

L'équipage mobile 5 est muni à sa partie inférieure de 2 surfaces d'appui inférieures 10 qui peuvent s'appuyer sur des patins 10' solidaires de la plate-forme 1.The moving part 5 is provided at its lower part with 2 lower bearing surfaces 10 which can be supported on pads 10 ′ secured to the platform 1.

The lifting beam 3 associated with each moving element 5 has a form of gantry, the base of which is secured to the platform 1.

Between each upper support structure 9 and the lifter 3 is disposed a hydraulic cushion. So there are four cushions per stack.

The environment of this cushion is shown in more detail in FIG. 4 which represents a vertical section IV-IV in FIG. 5 and in FIG. 5 which represents a horizontal section V-V in FIG. 4.

The cushion 11 is placed in a protective housing 12 secured to the upper support structure 9. Guide stops 13 secured to the lifter 3 frame the sides of the housing 12 with some play.

Les coussins hydrauliques ne seront pas décrits eux-mêmes plus en détail, ils seront du type décrit notamment dans le document FR-A 2 305 381.The housing 12 has on its bottom an opening through which passes a flexible hydraulic connection 14 with the cushion. The hydraulic cushions will not themselves be described in more detail, they will be of the type described in particular in document FR-A 2 305 381.

In Figure 6 there is shown the hydraulic connections of the device according to the invention relating to a single battery.

The cushions 11 are connected two by two by a pipe 15 provided with two valves 16, each associated with a cushion.

The two pipes 15 connecting the cushions two by two are joined together by a pipe 17 provided with two valves 18, each associated with a pair of cushions 11.

The operation of the device according to the invention is as follows.

When the platform has been brought floating to its working position, it is inflated, if this has not been done previously, the cushions 11 at a relatively low pressure (for example 10 bars, with square cushions of 1 mx 1 m).

The piles are lowered by releasing the pinions 6. When the feet of the piles have touched the bottom, the pinions 6 are rotated, so as to raise the movable assemblies 5. Firstly, due to the elasticity of the parts 8 and 11 the support structures take off pads 10 ′, which has the effect of raising the platform 1 relative to the stacks.

When the platform has reached a sufficient height, the pinions are locked in position.

Each cell is then precharged by charging the cell in question, for example, twice its normal charge by lowering the moving parts of the other cells. The pressure gauge 20 can be graduated in tonnes and allows the load to be read directly.

When this operation is complete, the mobile equipment is adjusted in position, so that the load is the same on each stack.

This setting is repeated as often as load variations are detected on the pressure gauges.

When the device comprises a hydropneumatic accumulator 23, which makes it possible to absorb the shocks on each cell (the valve 22 being open), a variation in pressure can be detected with the pressure gauge 20 which can be converted into a variation in charge by having the load pressure variation curve which depends on the hydropneumatic accumulator and which is established experimentally. Obviously, the dial of the manometer can be graduated directly in tonnes and we can, if we want this graduation to be linear, vary the detected signal according to the load pressure curve; you can also transmit and display the measured quantity. The valve 19 can be used by opening it more or less to stop the vibrations which are reflected on the pressure gauge 20.

When it is desired to vary the characteristics of the accumulator 23, the valves 18 and. 19 and the valves 21 and 22 are opened in order to be able to put the desired quantity of fluid in the accumulator.

When measuring valves 16 and 18 are always open but in the event that a cushion leaks, the corresponding valve 16 is closed, the pressure gauge 20 then indicating, the average pressure of the 3 remaining cushions.
