Definitions
- the invention relates to a control device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a control device is known for example from GB-PS 12 35 891 and described in the older DE-OS 30 10 737 with the addition DE-OS 30 44 678.
- gas with a constant calorific value such as town gas
- very different gases such as town gas, natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas are offered, which differ both in terms of their calorific value and in terms of make a strong distinction between the amount of combustion air required to achieve complete combustion.
- the so-called Wobbe Index which has quite different values for the individual types of gas, is usually used as the indicator for the calorific value and the density of the gas.
- the aim is to burn as completely as possible with a small excess of air. While around 3 to 4m 3 of air is required to burn 1m 3 of city gas, natural gas already requires around 8m 3 and butane around 30m 3 . Since burners and associated control devices are usually set to a specific type of gas and can be switched to another type of gas if necessary through special customer service measures, the gas supply companies have the resulting from the range of different types of gas Attempts to eliminate difficulties for consumers by mixing the heating gas with an auxiliary gas, for example air or nitrogen, in such a way that gas of approximately the same Wobbe index is fed into the supply network regardless of the type of gas. However, such mixing devices are not only complex, but also require strict safety monitoring so that a combustible gas mixture is not present in the distribution network or can form without the addition of additional combustion air.
- auxiliary gas for example air or nitrogen
- the invention aims to provide a water or air heater that can be fired with gas of different Wobbe index. This object is achieved by a control device of the type characterized in claim 1. With the invention it is possible, despite different calorific values of the gas supplied, to ensure that the burner is always optimal, ie. H. operate with complete combustion of the heating gas with a small excess of air and thus make the best possible use of the fuel supplied.
- the heat exchanger 1 of a water heater or boiler 2 is heated by a main burner 3, to which a pilot burner 4 and a thermocouple 5 monitoring the pilot flame are assigned.
- the main burner 3 is supplied with gas via an injector nozzle 6 which, due to its suction effect, simultaneously feeds primary air to the burner 3.
- the injector nozzle 6 faces the inlet 7 of the main burner 3 and is connected to the outlet 8 of a gas control device 9.
- this has the structure known from the company publication D3H-29 Honeywell “compact valves V4600 / V8600” and contains a servo pressure regulator 10 and a main gas valve 11 controlled by its output control pressure.
- the heater housing 2 Since the primary air simultaneously sucked in by means of the gas nozzle 6 is not sufficient for complete combustion, the heater housing 2 also has an air inlet 12 which is opposed by a second jet nozzle 13.
- the air inlet 12 opens into a secondary air distribution pipe 14, which is designed in the manner of a burner pipe and is provided with air outlet holes.
- the compressed air for the secondary air nozzle 13 is supplied by a blower 15, which is followed by an air control valve 16.
- the setpoint for the air control valve 16 is adjustable by means of an electromagnetic drive 18.
- a line 20 is also connected to the outlet 19 of the air control valve 16, which leads to an air outlet nozzle 22 provided in the flue gas outlet 21 and there to generate an artificial draft in the smoke vent 21 or chimney.
- the air pressure supplied to the nozzle 22 can be adjusted by means of a throttle 23 switched into this line.
- the connecting line 20 to the air outlet nozzle 22 can, as the dashed line 20 'indicates, be connected directly to the blower 15.
- the water heated in the heat exchanger 1 is pumped by a circulation pump 24 through the heating medium circuit in the form of two radiators 25.
- a room thermostat 26 closes its contacts as soon as the measured room temperature is below the setpoint.
- the boiler thermostat 27 closes its contact as soon as the water temperature at the inlet of the heat exchanger-1 is below the preferably adjustable setpoint.
- a temperature limiter 28 is also provided, which opens the circuit as soon as an upper limit of the water temperature at the outlet of the heat exchanger 1 is exceeded.
- the three thermostat switches mentioned are connected in series with the excitation winding of a switch-on solenoid valve provided in the gas control valve 9 to a current source 29.
- the gas control device 9 is switched on via the switch-on solenoid valve; its pressure regulator 10 generates a control pressure, which takes effect in the drive chamber 30 of the main gas valve 11 and lifts the closing body of the seat. Gas thus flows to the main burner 3, is ignited there by the pilot burner 4, and the flames heat the circulating water in the heat exchanger 1.
- the sensor 31 provided in the flue gas extractor 21 detects that the oxygen or carbon dioxide content is too low.
- the measured value is marked with an am electrical controller 32 predetermined or adjustable by means of setpoint generator 33 setpoints. If the oxygen content or the C0 2 content is too low, the controller 32 supplies an output current on the line 34 to the magnetic drive 18 of the servo pressure controller 17, whereby this increases the setpoint of the servo pressure controller via the electromagnetic drive and thus a further opening of the air control valve 16 causes. In this way, a larger amount of secondary air is supplied to the air distributor 14 via the air nozzle 13 and thus the combustion is improved.
- the flue gas extractor 21 is provided with a train interruption 35, it may be more favorable to provide the sensor 31 'downstream of this train interrupter 35 because the sensor then becomes less hot. However, the influence of the air flow sucked in via the train interrupter 35 must then be taken into account when determining the setpoint for the oxygen or carbon dioxide content. If the oxygen content rises above the setpoint, the sensor 31 reports this to the electric controller 32, which reduces the control pressure for the air control valve 16 via the electromagnetic drive 18 and the servo pressure controller 17, so that its closing body is adjusted in the direction of the closed position and thus the amount of secondary air supplied decreased.
- the output signal of the electric controller 32 can also be used directly to control the speed of the fan 15, as is indicated by the dashed electrical line 36.

Abstract
With a control device for gas-fired water or air heaters, the utilization of the supplied fuel gas is to be improved by automatically determining and providing the amount of air required to achieve complete combustion. A gas control valve (9) feeds the burner (3) with the required amount of gas depending on the heat requirement. A sensor (31) which responds to the residual oxygen content or carbon dioxide content of the flue gas is provided in the flue gas outlet (21), the measured variable of which is compared in an electrical controller (32) with a target value. In the event of a control deviation, the output signal of the controller (32) controls a controllable compressed air source in the form of a fan (15) with a downstream air control valve (16) in such a way that the air quantity required to achieve optimal combustion is provided.
Description
The invention relates to a control device according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a control device is known for example from GB-
The invention aims to provide a water or air heater that can be fired with gas of different Wobbe index.
The use of oxygen and carbon dioxide probes for monitoring the exhaust gases from internal combustion engines or the exhaust gases from power plants and industrial plants is known per se. Using such probes known per se, the invention provides a control device which enables the operation of a water or air heater with different types of gas and at the same time ensures the best possible use of the heating gas. Advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the subclaims.
For explanation, reference is made below to an exemplary embodiment of a control device for the gas-fired boiler of a hot water central heating system shown in the drawing.
The heat exchanger 1 of a water heater or
Since the primary air simultaneously sucked in by means of the gas nozzle 6 is not sufficient for complete combustion, the
The water heated in the heat exchanger 1 is pumped by a
Since the primary air simultaneously sucked in by means of the jet nozzle 6, as mentioned, is not sufficient for complete combustion of the heating gas, the
Instead of controlling the amount of secondary air shown in the exemplary embodiment via an electromagnetic drive and a servo pressure controller, the output signal of the
