Damit finden solche Wärmetauscher aus Platzgründen besondere Anwendung im Fahrzeug- und Motorenbau. Da bei luftgekühlten Motoren ohnehin Kühlluft von der Maschine zur Verfügung steht, haben sich hier für die Kühlung des Schmieröls, der Ladeluft und von Wandleröl kompakte Wärmetauscher besonders gut eingeführt. Da Fahrzeuge und Geräte mit luftgekühltem.Motor aber je nach Einsatzart stark verschmutzter Luft ausgesetzt sein können, setzen sich in einem solchen Falle die Kühler an der Lufteintrittsseite bald mit Schmutzablagerungen zu, so daß die Kühlung ausfällt. Die notwendige häufige Reinigung verschmutzter Kühler bei staubigem Betrieb drängt sich damit auf unzumutbare kurze Zeitintervalle zusammen.
