Description

The present invention relates to a massage device using an incompressible liquid; as actuating power especially for domestic use.

Figure imgb0001
Known devices of this type are generally electrical devices, the use of which may be prohibited because of the dangers inherent in the electrical installation. Modulated water massagers are also known. These all involve for the user a bathing suit and use in a bathtub or a suitable room. In addition, in both cases, the amplitude of vibrations provided by these devices is relatively small.
Figure imgb0001

The oscillator according to the invention operates as follows:
  • The pressurized liquid arriving via the supply line 6 will cause the pressure in the sealed cavity 4 to increase and dilate a crown of the membrane 1 comprised between the flanged periphery of the membrane and the edge of the nozzle 2 normally bearing against the inner face of the central part of the membrane.

Le frottement de l'eau de fuite en circulation excite la vibration du disque central 11 de la membrane 1 qui recouvre l'ajutage 2.From a certain pressure in the cavity 4, the membrane takes off from the nozzle by a fluttering phenomenon and a leak occurs between the outer edge of the nozzle 2 and the membrane 1. The friction of the water of leak in circulation excites the vibration of the central disc 11 of the membrane 1 which covers the nozzle 2.

The nozzle-nozzle assembly constitutes by its dimensions a resonant system fixing the vibration frequency of the device; the nozzle also allows maintenance of the oscillation of the membrane when the mechanical load varies on the membrane during use.

In fact, in the apparatus according to the invention, the membrane 1 constitutes the member for applying vibrations to the material to be agitated or to be massaged, while defining the front end wall of the apparatus. In the case of a massage device, as shown in FIG. 2, the device is therefore in the form of an applicator with a body part used for its manipulation, the end formed by the membrane being intended to be applied to the areas of the body to be massaged, allowing a localized and effective application.

The buffer chamber 8 serves, on the one hand, as a fluid reservoir regulating the back pressure downstream of the nozzle, and, on the other hand, to collect the water which escapes from the nozzle 7 for the evacuate to the outside of the device, through tube 9.

The general design is completely identical to that of the embodiment of FIG. 1, except that it will be noted that the supply pipe 6 is provided with a quick connection device 12 to a flexible pipe 13 of a domestic distribution installation, for example a shower hose, It is the same for the drain tube 9 which is extended by a flexible drain pipe 14 which allows water to be discharged into a bathtub or sink. To facilitate and control the tensioning of the membrane 1, an annular spacer element 15 is first screwed into the cover 3 between the body 5 and the periphery to be clamped of the membrane. pinch the periphery of the membrane, the cover-spacer-membrane assembly being screwed onto the periphery of the body 5 to ensure the required tensioning of the membrane, a seal being advantageously provided for sealing.

L'amplitude crête à crête de la vibration de la membrane peut atteindre 2 mm.The membrane 1 can advantageously be made of synthetic or natural rubber with a thickness between 1 and 2.5 mm, typically 2 mm and is stretched for mounting with a force of 3 to 10 kg on the nozzle 2, which has a section diverging towards the outside at an angle of 34 °, with an outside passage diameter of 21.7 mm and an inside passage diameter of 12 mm. Under these conditions, the nozzle 7 is cylindrical and has an internal diameter of 12 mm and a length of 67 mm. This arrangement makes it possible to generate vibrations with a fundamental frequency between 50 and 100 Hertz and a high level peak for the harmonic 9. The peak-to-peak amplitude of the vibration of the membrane can reach 2 mm.

The device can also be used as a vibrating element to promote mixtures or dissolutions of products for which the electric current would also constitute a danger.

According to one aspect of the invention, the device is particularly suitable for the application of very gentle massages, for example for facial treatments, with an amplitude of oscillations of a few tenths of a millimeter, as well as for the application very energetic massages at maximum power, by fully opening the supply tap of the domestic water installation. The device can be used in all massage cases. It is also possible to massage in or under water, for example while taking a bath, without the slightest risk of electrocution. According to one of the objects of the invention, due to the absence of water projection, it is also possible to perform massages while remaining fully clothed; in this case, the large amplitude of the vibration emitted allows the passage of energy through the clothing. The importance of the amplitude of the low frequency vibrations it generates, and the possibility of massage using hot water make it a particularly effective device in weight loss assistance treatments, especially for treatment cellulite.

Although the present invention has been described in relation to particular embodiments, it is not limited thereto but is on the contrary subject to modifications and variants which will appear to those skilled in the art.
