Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a training cartridge for handguns of the type specified in the preamble of the claim.

For small arms, practice ammunition is known with a case made of plastic with a projectile replica and a metal base piece with an ignition device inserted into the case. This shows that in hot-shot weapons the plastic material does not have the necessary stability to ensure absolutely safe and trouble-free shooting. It has therefore already been proposed to produce the sleeve with bullet replication from non-ferrous metal, just as in the case of a sharp shot. Apart from the high cost of the non-ferrous metal for use as practice ammunition, this has the disadvantage that it is not always available in the required amount or will certainly be available.

Furthermore, DE-B-1 082 162 is a blank cartridge from e.g. Steel is known in which the folded-up projectile replica is the only termination for the powder load. Folding is only carried out after the powder charge has been introduced. However, this means that this is a steel sleeve in which the base piece is integrally formed and which is made from a solid blank. Even if intermediate annealing is provided between the numerous forming steps required, the subsequent closing of the projectile replica is a critical measure, so that the required splinter-free opening is not always guaranteed.

The invention has for its object to provide a method for producing a training cartridge of the type specified in the preamble of the claim, with which it is possible to produce a training cartridge that on the one hand meets all the technical requirements placed on it, but on the other hand inexpensive and in particular unlimited at all times can be produced without material procurement problems.

According to the invention this is achieved with a method according to the characterizing part of the claim. The invention makes not obvious and advantageous use of an embodiment for the sleeve with projectile replica, as it can be realized relatively easily and simply using plastic by means of the injection molding process, but is surprising when using steel as the sleeve material, since the The physical requirements for this material are completely different from those for plastic, and naturally there are other problems with the completion of the parts for the finished cartridge than with a plastic sleeve. According to the invention, the steel tube piece is brought to the required wall thickness dimensions and into the sleeve shape with projectile replication by drawing and / or pressing operations and provided at one end with a cartridge-compatible tight closure, for which the known types of closure such as star, folding, embossing or Flare closure come into question.

After filling the sleeve with projectile replica by means of the propellant charge powder and inserting the base piece, which contains the ignition devices as usual, into the open sleeve end, these two parts are shaped by means of a grooving, beading or the like with at least one groove or bead all around. and non-positively connected so that the required gas tightness is given. For this purpose, it has proven expedient to provide the connection zone at least on the inside of the sleeve, but advantageously also on the outside of the base piece, with a sealing material, for example a bitumen lacquer, in order to improve the tightness and lids.

In view of the particular problems with respect to the eyelid that result from the use of steel as the material for the sleeve with a projectile replica, provision can further be made for the sleeve and base piece to be connected to one another over a length which is at least as large as the inner diameter of the sleeve in the region of the base piece, and wherein the base piece is designed as a lidging zone over at least almost the entire length of the connecting zone, preferably by a cup-shaped design with a wall thickness that decreases continuously after the open end.

An exemplary exercise cartridge produced by the method according to the invention is shown in the drawing, on which the method is explained in more detail.

In the sleeve 1 with projectile replica 2, the base piece 3 with primer 4 and ignition channel 5 is inserted at the rear end. The front end of the sleeve or the projectile replica is sealed by means of the folding closure 6. With 7 the propellant powder charge is designated.

Since the sleeve 1 with projectile replica 2 is already sealed tightly with the folding closure 6 during its manufacture or shaping from a piece of pipe in the region of the projectile replica 2, the propellant charge powder is first filled into the sleeve from the open rear end when manufacturing, then the base piece 3 is inserted with the ignition device and finally both parts are provided with at least one groove, beading or the like 8 extending over the entire circumference by means of a strangling or creasing process in order to achieve the required gas tightness. If necessary, in order to improve the sealing effect, the connection zone of one and / or the other part on the adjacent surfaces can be applied with a sealing compound, for example a bitumen paint. In order to achieve good eyelids, the length of the connecting zone between the sleeve 1 and the base piece 3 is at least as large as the inside diameter of the sleeve and the essentially axial sleeve-shaped part of the base piece is designed with a wall thickness that decreases towards its free end.

It is understood that both the number of grooves and their shape as well as the shape of the base piece can be varied in many ways, and that it is also possible in the sense of appropriate pretreatment, in particular also surface treatment of sleeve with projectile replica and base piece effects to achieve the best possible quality and suitability of the cartridge according to the invention.
