Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a composite film according to the preamble of claim 1.

In a method of this type known from FR-PS 1 591 695, the regions of the solvent-resistant layer which have the shape of the image structure and the regions of the metal layer which remain there lie between an underlay film and a cover film. Depending on whether you remove the backing film or the cover film, you look at the solvent-resistant areas (which are then exposed) or the metal areas (which are then exposed).

According to DE-OS 2222144, a special method according to the so-called hot gilding process is known, in which, by means of a die, areas corresponding to a provisional carrier layer on which there is a non-stick, transferable coating with a lacquer layer and a metal layer thereon, by hot pressing the die the metal layer and the lacquer layer can be lifted off and applied to a substrate. The viewer then looks through the lacquer layer at the exposed, transferred metal areas.

The object of the invention is to provide a method for producing a composite film according to the preamble of claim 1, which can be used particularly economically for short runs, but does not offer the viewer the exposed metal areas, but rather metal areas covered with transparent lacquer, so that a special one Gloss effect occurs.

The solution to this problem is specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.

The method according to the invention means that the composite film with its rear adhesive layer can be glued onto any surface. If the carrier layer is transparent, it does not have to be removed, even if it can be removed. In any case, the viewer looks at the remaining areas of the metal layer through the lacquer layer, which increases the gloss of the remaining areas of the metal layer.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.

  • Fig. 1 zeigt eine Verbundfolie in den ersten Phasen ihrer Herstellung im Querschnitt;
  • Fig. 2 zeigt die fertige Verbundfolie im Querschnitt.
The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawings.
  • Fig. 1 shows a composite film in the first phases of its manufacture in cross section;
  • Fig. 2 shows the finished composite film in cross section.

A layer 4 of a lacquer is first continuously applied to a polyester film 2, from which the film 2 is to be pulled off cold. In the case of a film 2 made of polyester, a vinyl lacquer which has been dissolved in a mixture of acetone and 2-butanone has proven successful. A continuous, like the layer 4 transparent, but color-tinted layer 6 was applied to the layer 4, for example a pigmented lacquer based on vinyl chloride / vinyl acetate. If no tinting is desired, layer 6 can be omitted. Layer 6 can also be omitted if layer 4 is tinted. A continuous metal layer 8, for example made of aluminum, was applied to the continuous layer 6, for example by vapor deposition. Such a metal layer can also be provided with coloring additives.

An image structure 10 was applied to the continuous layer 8 by means of printing ink or by means of a light-hardened emulsion. The image structure 10 thus left areas 12 free. In these areas 12, the aluminum layer could be removed with a suitable solvent, such as sodium hydroxide solution. 5% vinegar essence can be used to stop the dissolving process and to neutralize the sodium hydroxide solution. The layer regions 6 and 4 can then be removed by suitable solvents. Once this has been done, the image structure is coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive 14. (In the figures, the thickness ratios are of course not shown to scale, but in such a way that the layer structure becomes clear.)
