Description

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for moistening a web by condensing the moistening medium on the web.

A method for moistening a web is known, in which the web is guided through a space which is sealed off from the atmosphere, to which the pure moistening medium is fed at a saturated steam temperature above the temperature of the web and from which the excess of the moistening medium is removed again. DE-OS 22 03 973, which describes the theoretical requirements of such a method in detail, also mentions the various parameters on which the dampening strength depends, namely web temperature, saturated steam temperature or dew point temperature of the dampening medium, inert gas content, and indicates that all of these In principle, parameters can be used for the control of the humidification level, the other parameters coming in as disturbance variables. It prefers control over the web temperature in order to be able to use a humidification atmosphere of pure humidification medium because a proportion of inert gas in the humidification medium greatly reduces the mass transfer to the web, which forces the establishment of longer treatment sections and thus causes higher investment and operating costs. It is also known that it is difficult to control the relative humidity in the treatment room quickly and precisely. The control of the web temperature is therefore to be given preference over the control of the relative humidity of the humidification atmosphere, both in terms of economy and accuracy of the process.

The invention therefore also assumes that the humidification chamber is connected to devices for supplying pure steam to the humidification medium, a device for regulating the web temperature depending on a device for measuring the web moisture being provided for regulating the dampening strength.

In paper production in particular, it can happen that the web running off the paper machine has a different moisture profile over the width. The moistening device should therefore give the possibility of moistening the web across its width to different extents. It must therefore also be regulated differently in some areas. For this purpose, the aforementioned DE-OS 22 03 973 proposes a different temperature control of the web. However, such a different temperature control in certain areas is difficult to achieve because, for example, cooling media with different cooling temperatures would then have to be used within a cooling roll. In addition, a control device directed to different cooling areas of a cooling roll works sluggishly.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method of the type mentioned at the outset and a device suitable for carrying it out, which permits wetting that differs in regions over the width of the web with easy controllability and low investment and operating costs.

The solution according to the invention is that the humidification medium is fed to the humidification chamber at locations distributed over the web width and inert gas is admixed to it each time it is fed in as a function of a moisture profile measurement.

Accordingly, based on the principle that the humidification tung strength is controlled by the Bahntemperierung so .from the V orzügen treatment with the pure moistener, use can be made, it is considered, and it is only in regions of the partial pressure of the moistening by the addition of .Inertgas a little below the saturated vapor pressure is lowered. This reduction is slight because / that humidification area in which the most humidification is required is based on pure saturated steam treatment, so that according to the. Moisture distribution of the web is only necessary in the other areas, a slight reduction in partial pressure. In contrast, in a method in which only the relative humidity of the treatment atmosphere is used to regulate the degree of humidification, the partial pressure as a whole would have to be substantially lower than the saturated steam pressure, because control movements in the direction of higher and lower partial pressure would have to be possible. - Finally, it is an important feature of the invention that the addition of inert gas does not depend on the relative humidity of the treatment atmosphere, but on the moisture profile measurement of the web, which is more precise and quicker.

Compared to the known proposal mentioned at the outset, according to which the degree of humidification is regulated by the proportion of inert gas, that is to say the relative humidity, the humidification atmosphere, the invention thus differs by three features. First, it is maintained that the degree of moistening is basically regulated by the temperature of the web. Secondly, the humidification atmosphere should be formed as much as possible from the pure vapor of the treatment medium. And thirdly, as is the case in the known proposal, the proportion of inert gas in the humidification atmosphere is not measured and regulated, but rather the moisture profile measurement of the web serves as a reference variable for the regulation.

The device for carrying out this method has a space through the web guide with sealing means at the web inlet and outlet openings, which is connected to devices for supplying pure steam of the humidifying medium and to a device for removing excess steam. A device for regulating the web temperature as a function of a device for measuring the web moisture is provided. According to the invention, this device is characterized in that a plurality of devices for supplying steam of the humidifying medium is provided over the width of the web and at least some of these supply devices are each connected to a device for admixing inert gas, which is dependent on the measurement result of a moisture profile measuring device can be regulated separately. The space preferably contains walls to form a plurality of sections that are more or less separate from one another over the web width and to which steam feed devices are assigned.

When the invention relates to a treatment room which is sealed off from the atmosphere, this means that blocking means are provided which prevent the penetration of considerable amounts of atmospheric gases, so that treatment with pure steam from the humidifying medium can take place. It is not necessary to prevent the wetting medium from escaping from the treatment room. - The removal of the treatment medium from the treatment room is only necessary insofar as a constant supply of new medium is to be guaranteed, so that the temperature of the treatment atmosphere remains at the desired value and, in the event of a partial pressure drop due to the addition of inert gas, a partial pressure increase by displacing the atmosphere with higher Inert gas proportion can take place. In some cases, the losses that occur due to leaks in the system to the outside can result in a sufficient removal of the treatment atmosphere. In general, however, a special suction device, for example in connection with blocking nozzles as seals against the atmosphere. to be preferable. - The type of web temperature control generally does not play an important role for the invention. It can be done just as before as during the steam treatment. If one speaks of devices for supplying pure steam of the humidifying medium in connection with the treatment room, this does not mean that the steam must also reach the treatment room in a pure state in those cases in which the addition of inert gas is provided. Rather, it is preferred to add the inert gas to the steam flow before it has reached the treatment room, so that the gases mix intimately before being introduced into the treatment room. - The statement that the devices for steam supply should each be connected to a device for admixing inert gas is not to be understood as a limitation of the number of inert gas supply devices. - The walls for forming separate sections in the treatment room are intended to ensure that the treatment atmospheres, which may have different inert gas contents, remain essentially separate. A completely tight separation is not necessary. From this point of view, it must therefore be interpreted what is to be understood as a wall in the sense of the invention. Fixed blocking areas are generally preferred. However, these can also be flexible or can be replaced, for example, by slot nozzle jets. A certain degree of mixing of the atmosphere of adjacent rooms in the area of the walls is generally harmless and often even useful for avoiding sharp limits on the degree of humidification. - The moisture profile measuring device can be provided before or after the humidification device. In the first fold, the moisture level is determined according to the results of the moisture profile measurement based on experience controls; in the other case there is real regulation with the aim of completely avoiding fluctuations in the moisture profile. The type of moisture profile measuring devices used in connection with the invention is not important. They do not require any description in the present context, since suitable devices are familiar to the person skilled in the art. - The invention aims primarily at the treatment of cellulose webs (especially paper); however, it is not so limited.

Darin zeigen:

  • Fig. 2 einen schematischen Längsschnitt.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, which schematically illustrates an advantageous embodiment. In it show:
  • Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a humidifier and
  • Fig. 2 shows a schematic longitudinal section.

The web 1 runs in the direction of the arrow over two rollers 2 and 3 in order to then be discharged at 4. The rollers 2 and 3 are cooling rollers of adjustable temperature for regulating the dampening strength.

The rollers 2 and 3 are covered in the area of the wrap angle of the web 1 by housings 5, which enclose the moistening atmosphere with the roller or web surface. Their structure, which is shown in more detail in FIG. 2, can be essentially the same for both rollers. However, the roller temperature and the conditions of the moistening atmosphere in the two housings can be set differently for the purpose of different moistening of the two web sides.

The housing 5 encloses a treatment room 6 with the roller or web surface, which is sealed from the outside atmosphere by slot nozzles 7, some of which Curtain beam directed to the web surface, in order on the one hand the entry of atmospheric air into the treating - chamber 6 and to prevent the other abzurakeln the adherent air from the web surface and thus improve the mass transfer. Outside the slot nozzles 7 there are suction slits 8 which are connected to a suction space 9 separate from the treatment space 6, which in turn is connected to a suction line 18 with a suction fan 19. The suction through the slot 8 is set so strongly that losses of treatment medium to the outside are completely or essentially prevented.

The treatment room 6 has a steam supply device 10, which can be designed, for example, as a through slot opening parallel to the roll axis. It is connected to a steam line 11, which comes from a control valve 12 and possibly a heating register 13 for temperature control of the steam of an operating steam line 14 via a reducing valve 15. Another line 16 leads from line 11 via a control valve 17 to the blocking nozzles 7.

Shortly before the feed device 10, an air line 20 opens into the line 11, which comes from a compressed air source (not shown) via a control valve 21. The setting of the control valve 21 is determined by a control device 25, which is dependent on the measurement result of the moisture profile measuring device 22, which determines the web moisture across the width of the web for each individual point or certain selected points.

As can be seen from FIG. 1, the treatment room 6 of the housing 5 is divided by dashed walls 23 into a plurality of sections 24 across the web width, each of which is separately connected to the steam line 11 are. In the example shown it is provided that the control valve 12 acts jointly on all sections 24, which is generally sufficient, but the control valves 21 are provided separately in the individual air lines 20 for each section so that the inert gas addition can be regulated separately for each individual section , according to the desired moisture profile of the web.
