Description
The invention relates to a method for profiling metal strips, in particular press strips in double belt presses.
The profiling of workpiece surfaces, in this case press belt surfaces, can be done by embossing or by removing or removing material from the workpiece for the purpose of shaping; the latter is generally known as so-called machining or machining. This includes, for example, chiseling, planing, shaping, sawing, turning, milling, grinding, drilling, etc.
It is also known to carry out the removal of material by electrothermal, spark erosive or electrochemical means. Electrothermal ablation takes place in a stationary discharge process in the arc, the ablation process being purely thermal in nature. In the electroerosive process, the erosion takes place by spark erosion, in which the discharge processes are not stationary, but are controlled by special energy sources that supply the spark gap with impulsive energy surges. The electrodes can support additional mechanical oscillation and rotation movements to support the removal effect. By introducing a dielectric working fluid between the electrodes, their distance from one another can be significantly reduced, as a result of which the removal effect of the discharge can be increased considerably. The removal by electrochemical means or also called electrochemical lowering takes place in that the cathodically poled machining tool or the tool electrode is lowered into the anodically poled workpiece or the workpiece electrode at a constant feed rate. Depending on the process, a work gap is formed between the workpiece and the tool, through which the electrolyte solution flows at high speed, thereby removing the removal products and the heat generated by the current flow.
Finally, shaping can also be carried out using embossing rollers or molettes. Mettling takes place by molding the profiled surface of a press roll under pressure on the surface to be profiled.
A number of methods and devices for electroerosive or electrochemical machining of workpieces or for machining workpieces using the embossing process are now known, the machining relating to a number of workpieces of different types, but not to metal strips or embossing strips, since in the professional world there was a prejudice against the use of the long-known methods for the purpose of shaping or profiling metal strips, in particular press strips. In addition, there was the difficulty in assigning the geometrically indefinite shape of the press belt outer surface and its dimensions to the processing tools in such a way that satisfactory surface textures could be produced for the discerning eye without any approaches. The state of the art is, for example, DE-C-1 298 854, 1 440 999, 1 565 468 and 1 961 676, GB-A-856 340, FR-A-1 224109 and US-A -3 042 789 and 3 363 082.
Finally, from US-A-2472863 a device for perforating metal strips is known, in which the strips to be perforated outside the part to be machined are provided with a perforation on the outer edge, which is in engagement with a corresponding division on the processing tool, whereby a synchronization of tool and workpiece movement is achieved.
It is also generally known to profile the outer surface of rollers for printing and embossing workpiece surfaces using the methods mentioned. The circumference of the tool (or the electrode in the electrothermal and electrochemical processes) and the circumference of the roll to be profiled are dimensioned such that the repeat length on the circumference of the roll to be profiled can usually be accommodated several times as an integer.
The inventor has the task of transferring this state of the art, which is known in the case of pressure and embossing rollers, to the profiling of metal strips, in particular of press strips for double-band presses, the length of which, in contrast to the ratios in the case of rollers, is a multiple of conventional roller circumferences, and only with great effort can be determined. To make matters worse, this length must be maintained for the time of processing or its change must be measured or influenced continuously.
The solution to the problem is conveyed by the technical teaching that, at the belt edge of the press belt to be machined, outside the part of the press belt surface to be profiled, a division is provided which is in engagement with a corresponding division of the profiling tool, the flushing of the press belt edge being an integral multiple of that Division of the tool circumference or of the repeat lying on the tool circumference corresponds, if this is not identical to the tool circumference, so that the beginning of the press belt structure and its end merge into one another without visible transitions, and the division is evaluated by electronic or mechanical means, a synchronization of Tool and workpiece passing through when mapping the surface profile Electrothermal, electrochemical or forming processing allowed.
A forced synchronization between the jacket of the synchronously driven deflection drum and the press belt can be accomplished, for example, with the help of toothing, as described in DE-A-2 737 629. There, a toothing is arranged on the side edges of the steel strips, which engages in a corresponding end toothing of a hollow gear on the deflection drum.
This synchronization with the aim of rolling an exact whole number of tool circumferences on the edge of the press belt ensures that the beginning of the press belt structure and its end merge into one another without any visible signs, taking into account any phenomena that may be referred to as slippage.
For this purpose, the press belt is tensioned over two deflection drums and driven via the edge teeth of the press belt. The tool or the tool electrode is brought into engagement at a suitable point on the press belt tensioned on the deflection drums and driven in the direction of rolling. If the two drives are synchronized mechanically via known differential gears or electronically via position control controls that are also known, the surface profiling of press belts for double-belt presses can be carried out without any problems, whereby a surface mapping between tool and workpiece that goes down to the finest details is achieved.
Die Abformung erfolgt dabei im Synchronisationsbereich 5 von Preßband 2 und Werkzeug 3.The drawing shows schematically the molding process according to the method of the invention. The
