Definitions
- the invention relates to a cold surface, in particular for cryopumps, formed by the cooled side (s) of a (double) wall which is at least partially filled or acted upon with liquid helium, and to a cryopump provided therewith.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of significantly improving the economy of such He-cooled cold surfaces.
- the cold surface of the type mentioned at the outset to achieve this object is essentially characterized in that the LHe-loaded (double) wall is designed as a double jacket for an LHe reservoir, which is separated from the double jacket by a heat-insulated, in particular evacuated, space and with it is connected via a valve-fitted LHe line that leads from the almost lowest point of the double jacket to the approximately lowest point of the reservoir.
- the externally effective double jacket and the liquid helium reservoir enclosed by it are connected via a valve-provided connecting line at the low point or lower end, as a result of which liquid helium is rapidly withdrawn from the externally effective double wall into the reservoir is possible solely by appropriate pressure control without line losses. Refilling can also be carried out without loss.
- both the enclosed reservoir and the double wall each have a gas outlet, which are connected in particular via a system for generating a pressure difference.
- the wall loaded with liquid helium which is designed as a well heat-insulated or vacuum double jacket for the enclosed LHe reservoir, can be designed without gaps over its entire surface as a liquid helium-absorbing double wall, or else by a system of area-connected LHe filled or absorbing tubes are formed or only at the overall concept adapted places such.
- the space between the outwardly acting LHe-loaded wall and the LHe reservoir enclosed by it can preferably have a cryosorbent specifically as a surface covering of the enclosed reservoir, whereby the negative pressure in the space can be reduced in a desired manner.
- the attached figure shows a diagram for a cold surface according to the invention with an LHe container which is formed in a coherent manner over the entire surface.
- the externally effective (double) wall 1 forms a double jacket for an LHe reservoir 2 enclosed by it, which is separated from the double jacket by a well-insulated, in particular evacuated, intermediate space 3.
- a cryosorbent 4 may be provided as the outer skin on the surface of the reservoir 2.
- a multilayer heat radiation shield 13 made of highly reflective foils surrounds the entire reservoir 2 in a visually tight manner in order to reduce the LHe losses of the reservoir due to heat radiation in the case of a warm cold surface, that is to say, for example, in the case of ventilation of the vacuum system (in which case LN2-Baffie12 and cold wall 1 are at ambient temperature warm up).
- This type of thermal radiation insulation (usually referred to as super insulation) is often used for this purpose in cryosystems.
- a connecting line 6 provided with a valve connects the lower ends of the reservoir and the double wall.
- the connecting wall 5 can be used to fill or empty the externally active wall without thermal line losses.
- An additional connecting line 7 leads from the upper end of the reservoir to the lower end of the double wall.
- a valve is provided which is opened when driving cold and allows cold gas to be used for pre-cooling the double wall.
- the entire arrangement is filled by an external liquid helium source via line 9.
- Gas outlets 10 and 11 of the double wall or the reservoir can be connected to a control system, by means of which a pressure difference between rooms 1 and 2 required for the filling or emptying process is generated.
- the entire arrangement serves in particular as the cold surface of a cryopump and is then surrounded by a gas-permeable heat radiation shield (LN z baffle) 12 which is at the liquid nitrogen temperature.
- This heat radiation shield is preferably designed as specified in DE-A-29 07 055.
- the refilling process can be quasi-continuous, whereby helium storage in the double wall itself is not necessary; this also minimizes helium losses due to rapid evaporation in the event of a vacuum break in the recipient to be accommodated in the cryopump.
- This recipient can be ventilated without transferring the liquid helium back into an external reservoir.
- the liquid helium remains in the internal reservoirs of the cryopumps.
- the liquid helium can be returned from the double wall 1 into the reservoir 2, whereby the losses are reduced to that of a commercially available He-Dewar (0.5 l / day), regardless of the size of the cold surface , whereas systems of conventional design have standby losses of 0.5) /qm.h.
