  • the sole 12 of the boot is provided with ribs 24 spaced apart forming grooves. However, in the area of flexure of the sole 12, a larger groove 26 is provided to allow for easier flexing of the boot and also to provide a convenient, rung-engaging foot hold for climbing ladders.
  • the heel portion 14 of the boot 10 is molded integrally with the boot, and in the present embodiment, is provided with frusto-conical apertures extending downwardly in the heel forming narrow walls between the recesses 40 such that in the case of a severe shock, the walls forming recesses 40 will collapse, thereby acting as a shock absorber for the heel. It might happen in a mining situation where a miner may accidentally fall and land on his feet or have to jump from a relatively high perch onto a rock surface. In such a case, it is believed that the walls between the recesses 40 will give, thereby acting as a shock absorber.

  • corrugated ribs 36 are formed in the ankle area of the boot to allow flexing of the calf portion 15 relative to the tarsal portion of the boot.
  • corrugated ribs 38 will be provided extending vertically in the Achilles ten-' don area of the boot. This particular area of the boot is form fitting and resiliently presses against the Achilles tendon. However, when the boot is being placed on one's foot, the heel of the foot displaces and expands the portion of the boot formed by the corrugations 38, thus enabling the boot to be easily fitted.

Claims (8)

1. Botte de sécurité étanche, en matériau flexible, comprenant une semelle intégrale (12) et une partie supérieure qui présente une partie d'orteils (16) et une partie métatarsienne (17), une plaque de protection (18) intégrée à la semelle (12) s'étendant suivant la largeur et la longueur de celle-ci et permettant une flexion longitudinale de la semelle (12), une protection rigide (22) en forme de boîte prévue à la partie d'orteils (16), une protection métatarsienne (20) rigide en forme d'arche s'étendant latéralement et ayant deux parties latérales (30) reliées à la plaque (18) de la semelle, caractérisée par le fait que le bord arrière (22a) de la protection d'orteils (22) est espacé vers l'intérieur par rapport au bord avant (20a) de la protection métatarsienne (20) et le matériau souple reliant la protection métatarsienne (20) et la protection d'orteils (22) présentant une partie de charnière (32) flexible en forme de pli inversé, de sorte que le bord avant (22a) de la protection d'orteils (22) puisse pivoter vers l'intérieur avec le bord avant (20a) de la protection métatarsienne (20) lorsque la partie d'orteils (16) de la botte (10) pivote par rapport à la botte.
2. Botte conforme à la revendication 1, dans laquelle la protection métatarsienne (20) et la protection d'orteils (22) sont entièrement réalisées d'une seule pièce moulée dans le matériau souple, et où les parties latérales (30) de la protection métatarsienne (20) comportent des brides intérieures (30) fixées sur le dessous de la plaque (18) de la semelle, la protection d'orteils (22) présentant des brides intérieures (28) passant sur le dessus de la plaque (18) de la semelle.
3. Botte conforme à la revendication 1, dans laquelle la partie de charnière flexible (32) de la partie supérieure est reliée au bord avant (20a) de la protection métatarsienne (20), et à une zone espacée du bord arrière (22a) de la protection d'orteil (22), créant ainsi un évidement axial (34) dans le matériau souple au niveau du bord arrière (22a), et formant le pli inversé de telle sorte que la protection d'orteils (22) puisse pivoter vers l'intérieur en s'éloignant de la zone charnière (32) du matériau souple, et que ce dernier puisse plier.
4. Botte conforme à la revendication 1, dans laquelle le matériau formant la botte est ondulé (36) dans la région avant de la cheville et au-dessus de la protection métatarsienne (20), permettant ainsi une flexion plus facile de la partie de mollet (15) de la botte (10) par rapport à la botte elle-même.
5. Botte conforme à la revendication 4, dans laquelle la zone du tendon d'Achille de la botte comprend une région formée d'ondulations verticales (30) de telle sorte que la partie du tendon d'Achille de la botte puisse s'étirer lorsque le pied entre dans la botte pour permettre au talon de s'engager, tout en épousant la région du tendon d'Achille du pied.
6. Botte conforme à la revendication 1, dans laquelle la partie métatarsienne (20) comprend des nervures de renfort (23) qui s'étendent dans le sens latéral de la botte (10) d'un côté à l'autre.
7. Botte de sécurité en matériau flexible comprenant une semelle intégrale (12) et une partie supérieure, une plaque de protection (18) intégrée à la semelle suivant la largeur et la longueur de celle-ci (12) et permettant und flexion longitudinale de la semelle (12), une protection métatarsienne rigide en forme d'arche (20) s'étendant longitudinalement sur le métatarse du pied et présentant un bord avant (20a), une protection des orteils (22) avec un bord arrière (22a), la protection métatarsienne (20) s'étendant latéralement et portant des parties latérales (30) lesquelles sont constituées de brides solidaires (30) s'étendant à l'intérieur et reliées à la plaque (18) de façon à former une cage d'une seule pièce protégeant le cou-de-pied; cette cage étant totalement rigide aussi bien en largeur qu'en longueur, ce que réduit ainsi les risques de rupture en cas de choc violent; caractérisée par le fait que la protection métatarsienne (20) s'étend longitudinalement sur toute la surface du métatarse, le bord .arrière (22a) de la protection des orteils (22) étant espacé vers l'intérieur par rapport au bord avant (20a) de la protection métatarsienne (20) et ainsi le bord avant (20a) est adapté pour recouvrir le bord arrière (22a) de la protection des orteils (22) afin de permettre la flexion de la partie avant d'orteils par rapport à la partie métatarsienne tout en protégeant complètement le métatarse et la partie avant du pied.
8. Botte de sécurité conforme aux revendications précédentes, dans laquelle la protection métatarsienne (20) présente une surface externe concave dans le sens longitudinal qui se termine, au niveau du bord avant (20a) par une nervure convexe (23), et au niveau du bord avant (22a) par une nervure convexe (23), chaque nervure (23) étant disposée dans le sens latéral de la protection métatarsienne à partir de la plaque (18) intégrée à la semelle.
