Das Ultraschall-Schweißverfahren bietet zwar Vorteile, bringt jedoch in den meisten Fällen keine ausreichende Verbindung zwischen Kontaktkörper und Kontaktträger. Hierdurch wird verhindert, daß beim anschließenden Prägevorgang mit dem Prägestempel (4), unter gleichzeitiger Einwirkung von Schallenergie über den Schwinger (1), Kontaktmaterial aus dem Prägewerkzeug (2) austritt, was eine Nachbearbeitung des fertigen Kontaktstücks erforderlich machen würde. Bei Prägebeginn ist das durch Führungsbüchse (3) und Prägestempel (4) begrenzte Volumen (7) im Prägewerkzeug (2) vorteilhafterweise mehr als 20 % größer als das Volumen des Kontaktkörperrohlings (6), um einen für die Verbindungsfestigkeit'ausreichend hohen Verformungsgrad des Kontaktkörperrohlings (6) zu erzielen. Die bei der Abscherprüfung erzielten Kräfte liegen zwischen 1500 und 2000 N.
