Abstract

The container is made of an integral cardboard material which is coated on both sides so as to be sealable. The container has a bottom (1) and side wall parts (2, 3, 4, 5) which are attached to said bottom and are connected to each other via connection tabs (6, 7, 8, 9). Provided in the connection tabs are perforation lines (26, 27, 28, 29), the purpose of which is that the connection tabs in the layer of cardboard become delaminated during the tearing-open process. To facilitate the tearing-open process, gripping tabs (12, 13, 14, 15) are provided on the side wall parts, of which gripping tabs one may be constructed as a lid (35). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a tearable packaging container, made from a one-piece blank made of cardboard material that is sealable on both sides, consisting of a bottom surface and hinged side wall parts, which are connected to one another by means of connecting straps and which have tabs in the area of the upper edge of the container, the connecting straps fixed on the inside of the adjacent side wall parts and separated from the side wall part to which they are articulated by a score line separating the outer coating, which enables the fixed connecting strap to be delaminated when the handle is pulled.

A packaging container of the type described above is described in DE-DS 25 33 205. With him, the tabs on the corners of the container stick out. This arrangement of the tabs has several disadvantages. In particular, it was found that the delamination of the material did not occur as desired - in the connecting flap, but in the side wall part, which made the packaging unsightly and the side wall parts could not be separated from one another in such a way that they could be folded back into the state of a flat cut. This may be due to clumsy handling, inadequate correspondence between the folded edges and the Scratch lines or similar can be attributed to or occur as a result of special container shapes and the opening that results from the opening.

The present invention has for its object to achieve an improvement of such a packaging container, through which the delamination is always achieved in the connecting tabs when the container is torn open.

This object is achieved in that the handle straps extend upward beyond the upper container edge, that the connecting straps further have extension parts which are fixed to the handle straps, and that the inner coating of the connecting straps is weakened to facilitate the start of delamination.

This ensures that when the packaging container is torn, there is a separation in the material of the connecting straps, which means that a clean and controlled delamination takes place, which is limited to the area of the relatively narrow connecting straps.

It is also very advantageous if, according to the invention, at least one incision, which cuts through the coating facing the interior of the container and is directed toward an upper corner of the container, is arranged in the connecting tabs.

This ensures that when tension is exerted on the grip tab, the connecting tabs tear open and delaminate along the incisions.

It is also advantageous if, according to the invention, one of the handle straps is extended to a hinged lid.

On the one hand, this creates a simple closure option and, on the other hand, it makes it considerably easier to touch the handle when the packaging container is torn open.

The invention is illustrated in the drawing using two exemplary embodiments. Show:
  • 1 shows the inner side of a flat, unsealed blank,
  • 2 shows the inner side of a torn container which has been folded back into a flat state,
  • 3 shows a container with a hinged lid according to FIG. 2,
  • Fig. 4 shows the beginning of opening a filled container and
  • Fig. 5 shows the tearing open of the container after it has been turned inside out for emptying.

The containers shown have an approximately square bottom and cross section and slightly taper towards their opening. They can be provided with a hinged lid, or can be closed by a separate lid, not shown. The containers consist of a mutually sealable and liquid-tight cardboard material coated with a suitable plastic. They are used, for example, for packaging ice cream or similar products that are filled in a liquid state and only solidify in the container.

The blank consists of a base 1 and four side wall parts 2, 3, 4, 5, on the upper edges of which, which are indicated by the folding lines 22, 23, 24, 25, grip tabs 12, 3, 14, 15 are arranged. On both sides of the side walls 2 and 4 there are connecting tabs 6, 7, 8, 9, which are separated from the side walls by lines of weakness, in particular scored lines 26, 27, 28, 29 or cuts made by the outer coating. The connecting straps 6, 7, 8, 9 have at their upper ends extension parts 16, 17, 18, 19, the dimensions of which are so large that they can be fastened to the handle straps 13 and 15 if the connecting straps are attached to the side wall parts 3 and 5 be fixed by sealing.

The inner coating of the connecting tabs is weakened at its upper end in such a way that the start and possibly also the initial course of the delamination is facilitated and controlled. The weakening is preferably carried out by perforations or incisions that at least cut through the inner coating, but can also cut through the entire material thickness of the connecting tabs. In Fig. 1, a short incision 31 is shown in each of the connecting tabs 6 to 9, which runs in the direction of the upper corner of the finished container standing on its bottom 1 at an angle of approximately 30 ° to the scoring lines 26, 28. Between the connecting flaps 6 and 8 and their extension parts 16 and 18, further incisions 32 are shown, which coincide approximately with the folding line 25 in the finished container and are thus also directed towards the upper corner of the container. Incisions 31 and 32 expediently do not cut through the connecting tabs over their entire width, but leave at least on both edges of the connecting tabs undamaged parts of the inner coating which are only torn when the container is opened. The incisions 32 not only allow the start of delamination, but also allow the material between the extension parts 16, 18 and the tabs 6, 8 to stretch if the grip tab 15 has to be bent outwards, for example, to fill the container.

To empty the contents, the container is opened and the lid 35 and the handle straps 12, 13, 14 are folded outwards (FIG. 4). in the upright position of the cup, or after it has been turned upside down on a plate 36 (FIG. 5), the jacket of the cup is now torn open by a lateral pull on the lid 35 and grip tab 13 and detached from the packaged product.

An den Seitenwandteilen 2 und 4 befinden sich beispielsweise noch die inneren Beschichtungen 6a,7a,8a,9a der Verbindungslaschen, und auf den Seitenwandteilen 3 und 5 sind die äusseren Beschichtungen 6b,7b,8b,9b mit der Kartonschicht haften geblieben.FIG. 2 shows the container blank folded back into a flat blank, the connecting flaps 6 to 9 of which were delaminated when the jacket was torn open, the material separating in or on the cardboard layer. On the side wall parts 2 and 4 there are, for example, the inner coatings 6a, 7a, 8a, 9a of the connecting tabs, and on the side wall parts 3 and 5 the outer coatings 6b, 7b, 8b, 9b with the cardboard layer have adhered.

In the example shown, the delamination of the connecting tabs 6, 7, 9 started exactly at the upper corners of the container and initially followed the course of the oblique incisions 31, so that a part 6 c of the inner coating remained on the side wall 5. When pulling laterally on the lid 35 which is bent around the fold line 25, the tensile force is conducted via the extension part 16 fixed to it into the inner coating of the connecting flap 6 and leads to an expansion of this coating exactly at the corner of the container, that is, between that on the Corner directed end of the incision 31 and the corner. By concentrating the tear force on the corner point, the inner coating can be easily torn here, so that delamination begins. The tear force initially increases only slowly, since the width of the delamination follows the course of the incision 31 until the connecting flap 6 is opened over its entire width. Through the extension parts 16, 17, 18, 19 and the preferred incisions 31 not only makes it much easier to split the container shell, but above all ensures that the delamination also occurs when everyone is torn open. four edges in the connecting tabs and not in the side panels.

The delamination can also begin at the incisions 32, as shown in FIG. 2 for the connecting tab 8. If the transition from the extension part 18, which is fixed on the cover 35, to the connecting tab 8, for example, is greatly weakened by a relatively long incision 32, the narrow parts of the inner coating on both sides of the incision 32 can tear at the same time. In this case, however, the delamination begins over the entire width of the connecting flap 8, as a result of which an initially higher tear strength than with the preferred oblique incisions 31 may be required.
