Description

The invention relates to an inclined continuous conveyor for transport carts. Such conveyors are designed to transport shopping carts in department stores between floors, but also to transport luggage carts at train stations and airfields between several floors.

A known system for shopping carts is described and shown in DE-B-1 919 740.

In contrast to the shopping trolleys, which can be freely rolled, the luggage trolleys available to travelers at airports and train stations have a brake for safety reasons which constantly blocks at least one wheel as long as the user does not actuate a handle or the like which releases the brake. For this reason, the system mentioned could also be used for such braked carts, but the user would have to keep the brake released even when driving on an incline.

This problem is solved in an embodiment of an inclined continuous conveyor which is specifically designed and suitable for braked carts. This conveyor known from DE-A-2 456 791 has, in accordance with the subject matter of the present invention, the features mentioned in the preamble of patent claim 1. In the known system - if the carts have a braking device - the brakes are released in that an auxiliary roller, which releases the brake, runs onto the higher lying track for the wheels. This only works reliably if a certain slope is provided. The user must therefore keep the brake released manually until the beginning of this inclined section. In addition, the carriages are only forced to be guided in the area of the inclined guide, but not in the area of the inlet and outlet sections. Therefore, this known system has proven to be impractical.

The object of the invention is to design an inclined continuous conveyor with the features of the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that the conveyance and thus the forced guidance of the carts also takes place in the area of the inlet and outlet sections, if necessary with the brakes ineffective, if such are provided. where the user can manipulate the cart safely. Nevertheless, the manufacturing and installation costs should not be significantly increased by this improvement.

The solution to this problem results from the characterizing part of patent claim 1. - The features of patent claim 2 enable a construction in which the mounting depth for the drive is relatively small. - Although the design according to the invention is intended and suitable for carts with a brake, it goes without saying that it can also be used with carts that do not have a brake. Claim 3 mentions a particularly simple and inexpensive solution for the ineffectiveness of the brake (if present), in which the above-mentioned restriction with regard to the gradient does not exist.

The accompanying drawings show a preferred embodiment of the subject of the invention.
  • Fig. 1 shows a side view of the scheme of the plant for the downward promotion,
  • FIG. 2 shows a top view of the inlet section from FIG. 1, and
  • Fig. 3 shows compared to Fig. 1 greatly enlarged the design and location of the braked axle of the trolley in the conveyor line.

Although it is already known to release the brake linkage by means of mechanically engaging means, this has not proven to be reliable because the brake is under a relatively strong, downward spring preload. Therefore, if the cart is little or no load, the brake is not released, but the whole cart is raised.

Therefore, it is provided according to the invention to replace the usual simple thru axle of the wheel 4 by an extended axle 20 which projects inwards beyond the axle fork 22 and carries an idling roller 24 there. However, the diameter of this roller is somewhat smaller than that of the wheel 4, so that it is inactive in normal overrun operation and does not affect braking. In the area of the inclined conveyor, however, there is provided a rail 26 which stands up by a little more than half the diameter difference with respect to the actual raceway 6 and on which the roller runs, so that the braked wheel 4 can no longer touch the ground. In the discharge section of the inclined conveyor, the rail then lowers again to the level of the floor.

On the side of the extended axis 22 facing away from the roller 24, a stop piece 25 is fastened, on which the driver cams 8 of the driver chains 7 engage.

The design and arrangement of the raceways 5 and 6 for the non-braked wheels 3 of the cart 2 differs only in so far from the system according to DE-PS 1 919 749, as the raceways above and below are extended by an inlet and outlet section. In the case of downward conveying according to FIG. 1, however, conveying is carried out from the inlet section to the outlet section, the driver chains 7, which run around vertical axes, being curved perpendicular to their normal joint direction. It is not absolutely necessary to use expensive gimbal chains for this; one can rather use normal roller chains on purpose Use increased play between pin and roller. As tests have shown, the additional wear is easily wearable because the chains are only slightly loaded in the direction of pull.

As can be seen from the top view of the inlet section according to FIG. 2, the deflection sprockets 9 are laterally offset outwards, so that the chains gradually reach the engagement area between the driving cams 8 and the stop piece 25.

The chains can be driven via a bevel gear from the same motor 10, which also drives an escalator provided next to the inclined conveyor, if one is provided; the escalator then runs faster than the conveyor, so that the user has time to push the cart into the infeed section and to receive it again at the exit.

In the exemplary embodiment, the chains 7 are guided around sprockets that run around vertical axes. With the chains, which are at least limitedly flexible in the transverse direction, an embodiment would also be possible in which the chains are deflected around sprockets with horizontal axes, but much deeper pits would then be required for the drive units; overall, the embodiment shown has proven to be the more economical to manufacture.
