Granules are obtained from a fine-grained material based on carbon and a binder. The method includes the following stages: mixing the said material and the binder and agglomerating the mixture thus obtained by tumbling. Tumbling effect, for example, in a rotating drum, serves to agglomerate particles and bind the mixture into granules, usually with a variable size distribution. There is no need to use mechanical compression forces, and when using the used binders, the method can be carried out at ambient temperature. The method provides a simple but effective process for disposing of carbon-based waste materials and producing a usable fuel product that is easily transported and burned efficiently. Rotating drum or pan sinter plants are relatively inexpensive and can provide very high performance. Production of products according to individual technical requirements of customers is possible. The method improves the efficiency of ash removal and grading in coal preparation plants.
