Abstract

The invention relates to medicine, specifically to obstetrics, and can be used to assess the state of a fetus in the II trimester of pregnancy and to increase the effectiveness of perinatal prediction. A method for assessing the functional state of a fetus using cardiotocography involves conducting cardiotachograms and analysing the resulting cardiotachograms to determine heart rate characteristics and distinguish three types of cardiotachogram: normal, suspicious and pathological, wherein diagnosis is conducted in the II trimester of pregnancy on the basis of the criteria of short-term heart rate variability, long-term heart rate variability, episodes of high variability, episodes of low variability and deceleration. The method makes it possible, in the II trimester of pregnancy, to predict and identify fetal conditions related to placental insufficiency with a high degree of accuracy.
