Abstract
Description

The invention relates to the chemical neutralization of soil contaminated with toxic substances.
The developments of the Institute of Biology of the Ufa Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences are known, which offer a special Collection of microorganisms-destructors for the decomposition of phenol and its chlorinated derivatives in soil (abstract Methods for cleaning the environment from phenol).
The closest is a method for biological reclamation of soil contaminated with phenol. According to this method, the treated soil is removed from a contaminated place and laid on permeable to liquid and gas bases. Then water and the corresponding microorganisms are supplied and the oxygen-containing gas, mainly air, heated to 40 ° C is passed. By means of a continuous supply of water inside, optimal conditions are maintained for the life and reproduction of microorganisms with soil moisture of 15-25% and soil temperature of 40 ° C (, Patent No. 3720383, 1988).
The use of the above methods is impractical due to the large physical and material costs, as well as the long time (a whole year) for soil detoxification.
The objective of the invention is to simplify the method of disposal of soil contaminated with phenol, reducing the time of its detoxification while ensuring environmental safety for the environment of the products of neutralization, expressed in the absence of phenol in their aqueous extract.
The problem is solved in that the method of decontamination of soil contaminated with phenol, including mixing the soil with a neutralizing composition, which is a mixture of co-milled quicklime and bentonite in the ratio, wt.%:
quicklime -80-85 bentonite - the rest
The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the use of a chemical method of inactivation of toxicants, based on the conversion of toxic substances such as phenol into sedentary, practically insoluble compounds in water by the reaction of their crystallization with their subsequent immobilization in the products of neutralization. In addition, the essence of the invention also lies in the use of natural bentonite in the neutralizing composition, leading to the neutralization of hydrated lime with the formation of hydrophobic calcium silicate, which provides strength properties of the surface of the lime capsule and a pH range of aqueous extracts from the neutralization products from 6.5 to 8 that is acceptable for the natural environment. ,5.
The method allows for the detoxification of phenol contaminated soil, ensuring environmental safety for the environment.
The transfer of toxic phenol to such a state, while ensuring environmental safety for the natural environment of the contaminated soil, fully ensures the process of liming it using a neutralizing lime-based neutralizing composition.
In the process of exothermic hydration of quicklime by chemical dispersion, calcium hydroxide is formed in the form of its aqueous solution and in the form of its aqueous suspension in the state of the finest particles of fine dispersion. Calcium hydroxide in its aqueous solution interacts with phenol from the soil to form practically insoluble calcium phenolate in the water, which precipitates in a crystalline state, evenly distributed in the soil. As for calcium hydroxide suspended in water, it provides particles of soil along with calcium phenolate, forming tiny capsules with components of toxic soil immobilized inside.
To strengthen the calcareous surface of the capsules, natural bentonite co-crushed with quicklime is introduced into the composition of the neutralizing composition. When interacting with hydrated lime, bentonite forms calcium silicates, which strengthen the surface of the capsules and give it hydrophobic properties, ensuring its impermeability to water from the environment, preventing capillary water absorption.
Chemical neutralization of toxic soil contaminated with phenol consists in the fact that it is mixed with water and together with crushed quicklime and natural bentonite with stirring. 5-10 minutes after mixing, an exothermic reaction begins to produce a dry powdery product of neutralization, represented by calcareous microscopic capsules with soil components enclosed in them and immobilized phenol in the form of calcium phenolate. Over time, the material of the capsule itself in the form of calcium hydroxide is neutralized by the bentonite included in its composition with the formation of hydrophobic calcium silicate. At the same time, the high strength properties of the capsule shell and the pH range of their aqueous extract from 6.5 to 8.5 are acceptable for the natural environment.
The resulting soil neutralization products are hydrophobic, environmentally friendly and can be used as a mineral additive in the asphalt mix during road construction or dumped into a dump.

Quicklime according to GOST 9979-77 provides the formation of a solid matrix of capsules. When it is contained in a neutralizing composition below the claimed limit of this amount, it is insufficient to completely cover the soil components and form capsules, and above it is impractical due to the excessive consumption of the ingredient.
Bentonite according to GOST 28177-89 is used for hydrophobization, hardening of the surface of capsules and neutralization of residual calcium hydroxide. When the content of bentonite in the neutralizing composition is lower than the declared limit, the completeness of neutralization of calcium hydroxide, hydrophobization and sufficient strength properties of the surface of the formed capsules are not ensured, and above it is impractical due to the excessive consumption of the ingredient.
