Abstract

Vegetable cutter 1 for cutting vegetables in strips, with a base plate 2 with two upper surfaces 4, 5 which are situated in one and the same plane and between which there is at least one row of blades set approximately transverse to the cutting direction A, the material which is to be cut being guided in towards the row of blades. The blades have inverted U-shaped cutters 8 protruding above the said surfaces, are open at the bottom towards the underside of the base plate and at least partially slant downwards to the base plate. To simplify the production of such a vegetable cutter and make it less expensive, and to improve its handling by reducing the cutting resistance, openings 16 are arranged in the base plate 2 under each of two rows of blades 6, 7, which openings 16 are delimited by elongate tabs 15 and are situated under upper transverse tabs 11 on the blades, with lower transverse tabs 12 on the blades being embedded in the longitudinal tabs 15 of the base plate during injection-moulding of the vegetable cutter. <IMAGE>
