Abstract

The preferred device for selective control is obtained by using on-off thermostatic valves on every single radiator, with the particular property that the valve is only able to open when the pressure difference across the valve is zero. The central, selective control unit is adapted to perform adequately short stops of the circulating pump of the heating system in dependency of either a predetermined period of time having elapsed since last stopping period, or no flow being present in the radiators, corresponding to all the thermostatic valves being closed. The selective dependency appears by regulating the flow temperature upwards if the period of time from the pump having ended its stopping period until the flow in the radiators becomes zero is longer than a predetermined period of time, and regulating the flow temperature downwards if said period of time is shorter than a predetermined period of time. The preferred on-off thermostatic valve is a spring- loaded diaphragm valve as shown in Fig. 2 with an equalising nozzle 15 and an equalising slit 21 in the valve cone, such that the pressure in the chamber 17 above the diaphragm 20 is equalised against high pressure when the valve is closed. The valve is closed by means of a known radiator thermostat mounted onto the coupling flange 14 of the valve. <IMAGE>
