Sheet-form insulating unit (1) made of moulded foamed plastic for ventilated steep pitched roofs with longitudinal rafters, consisting of a sheet of insulating material (2) with a longitudinal edge (3) in the form of a moulded-on Z-section (4) consisting of a bar (6) projecting above and across the surface (5) of the sheet and an over-hanging flange (7) joined to the edge (8) of the bar, characterized in that a cutting edge (13) extending downwards below the level of the surface of the sheet (5) is provided at the free frontal edge (12) of the Z-section (4) parallel to the bar (6).
