Abstract
Trans-d,1-1-alkyl-6-alkoxyoctahydroquinoline of the formula <IMAGE> in which R and R2 each denote C1-3-alkyl are prepared by reacting a hexahydroquinoline compound of the formula <IMAGE> in which R and R2 have the abovementioned meanings, and in which the stippled line indicates the presence of a double bond, with a reducing agent of the formula MCNBH3 or of the formula MCNBH3 or MBH4, in which M is an alkali metal, in an inert solvent, where appropriate in the presence of a mineral acid or glacial acetic acid. The compounds V are important intermediates for obtaining octahydropyrazole[3,4-g]quinolines, which can be used as prolactin inhibitors and for treating Parkinson's disease, in a simple process which leads to high product yields.
