Description
Description
The invention relates to a method of removing ballast of a first ballast bed of a first track, wherein ballast clearing devices are guided along a second track which is parallel to the ballast bed. A method is known from EP 0 152 643 A1 in which ballast from adjacent, trackless bed sections of a switch is transported onto a work track. This ballast is then picked up, together with the ballast located underneath the work track, with the aid of a further ballast clearing device, and cleaned.
According to US 5 271 166 or AT 358 087, it is also known to configure a clearing chain, guided in a triangle, to be of such width that ballast can be picked up from both the main track and the initial part of the branch track of a switch.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a method of the type mentioned at the beginning with which it is possible, from a position on a neighbouring track, to remove ballast completely from a trackless bed section.
According to the invention, this object is achieved with a method of the specified kind in that ballast of the first ballast bed, located in a section adjoining a second ballast bed of the second track, is picked up by the ballast clearing device separately from the remaining ballast of the first ballast bed.
As a result of this segregated picking-up of the ballast in two sections which are adjacent with regard to the transverse direction of the track, it is possible to pick up the ballast without leaving a remainder, particularly also in the region adjoining the neighbouring track. To that end, it is advantageous if the ballast present in said region is picked up in a conveying direction extending in the longitudinal direction of the track.
Additional advantages of the invention become apparent from the dependent claims and the drawing description.
The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to an embodiment represented in the drawing in which
Fig. 1 shows a simplified side view of a machine for removal of a trackless ballast bed from a position on a neighbouring track,
Fig. 2 shows a simplified, schematic top view of the machine,
Fig. 3 shows a schematic perspective view of two ballast clearing devices of the machine for removal of the ballast, and
Fig. 4 shows a detail view, in the longitudinal direction of the track, of the ballast clearing devices.
In Figs. 1 to 4, a track section 1 is shown which is composed of a first track 2, having a first ballast bed 3, and -extending parallel to the former - a second track 4 having a second ballast bed 5. A machine 6 is composed of several vehicles 8, equipped with on-track undercarriages 7, and is mobile on the second track 4 in a working direction 9. A front, first ballast clearing device 11 - with regard to the working direction 9 - and a following, second ballast clearing device 12 are provided for picking up ballast 10 from the first ballast bed 3.
The first ballast clearing device 11 comprises an endless chain 14 which is rotatable by means of a drive 15 in a plane 17 extending perpendicularly to a track plane 16. The ballast 10 picked up in a first section 18 of the first ballast bed 3 in a conveying direction 21 (see Fig. 3) is discharged via a discharge end 19 onto a conveyor belt 20 extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine. The conveying direction 21 extends parallel to a longitudinal direction 13 of the track.
By means of the second clearing device 12, ballast 10 is picked up from a second section 22, adjoining the first section 18, of the first ballast bed 3. The second clearing device 12 is configured as an endless chain 25 (see Fig. 4) which is rotatable by a drive 24 and forms three deflection points 23. The higher positioned deflection point 23 - as compared to the two deflection points 23 which are guided in the track plane 16 - forms a discharge point 26 and is guided above a center line 27 of the second track 4. A flexible suction pipe 28 with a suction unit is provided for removal of residual ballast in special areas.
The method to be carried out by the machine 6 will now be described in more detail. Prior to operation of the machine, the first track 2 is removed, section by section, by means of a rail crane. For removal of the ballast 10 from the trackless first ballast bed 3, the machine 6 is advanced continuously in the working direction 9 on the adjacent second track 4. The front, first ballast clearing device 11 is displaced transversely with respect to a machine frame 29 of the machine 6 in order to pick up ballast 10 from the first section 18 by means of a pick-up end 30 of the endless chain 14. Since the conveying direction 21 extends parallel to the longitudinal direction 13 of the track, the entire ballast 10 can be transported off to the conveyor belt 20 while a sharp-cut separation line 31 (see Fig. 4) to the adjoining second ballast bed 5 is created.
The ballast clearing device 12 is connected to the machine frame 29 in the region of the upper deflection point 23 and, during working operations, is pivoted over the second section 22 of the first ballast bed 3 by means of drives, not shown in detail. The residual ballast 10 remaining in the second section 22 is picked up by means of a beam-shaped pick-up end 32 of the trailing, second ballast clearing device 12 and discharged via the discharge point 26 upon the conveyor belt 20 .
By means of a device 33, visible in Figs. 1 and 2, which is connected to the machine frame 29, new ballast 10 for creating a new ballast bed 3 is discharged, graded and consolidated.
