Den foreliggende opfindelse angår en benstift, som kan anvendes til at I
holde små benfragmenter sammen, og som er udført af polymermateriale, I
fortrinsvis en polymer, som er absorberbar i et animalsk legeme. Ifølge H
opfindelsen har benstiften en skære- eller boreindretning fastgjort til den ene I
5 ende af stiftens polymerdel, så stiften kan indsættes direkte i en knogle eller et H
knoglefragment.
Benstifter fremstilles normalt af metal af medicinsk kvalitet, som kan
anbringes i et animalsk legeme over længere tidsrum uden generende H
bivirkninger. De metalliske benstifter fjernes normalt fra legemet, efter knoglen I
10 er helet. Metalliske benstifter, navnlig en benstiftindretning, som kaldes en I
Kirschner-tråd, kan have en tilspidset ende, der kan anvendes som borespids H
til at bore stiften igennem knoglen. H
I DE-A-2721G75 er beskrevet en fikseringsstift til en knoglefraktur, I
hvilken stift er fremstillet med en ståldel, der frembringer en borespids, samt en 15 legeringsdel med et drænhul og dannende fikseringsstiftemnet. Den anden del
fremstillet af legeringen forbliver i knoglen, når først boredelen er fjernet, idet H
der anbringes en beskyttelsestap over den anden del for at forhindre, at der I
indføres urenheder i drænhullet. I
Brugen af formstof såsom polyethylen som benstift er blevet foreslået. H
20 Benstifter af polymermaterialer, som er absorberbare i legemet, er også blevet I
foreslået. Disse benstifter kan fremstilles af polyglukolid eller polylactid polymer I
eller copolymer eller glykolid og laktid eller af polydioxanon eller af andre I
absorberbare polymerer. En benstift fremstillet af polydioxanon som beskrevet i H
US patentskrift nr. 4 052 988 har været i handelen i nogen tid. I

Opfindelsen er særlig nyttig ved procedurer, hvor en stift skal forløbe hele vejen fra den ene side af en knogle til I den modsatte side. Benstiften ifølge opfindelsen kan placeres ved brug af et hult bor. Stiftens borespids bores gennem knoglerne, der skal holdes sammen.
10 Borespidsen forløber forbi eller helt igennem knoglens distale overflade. Stiften I skubbes igennem knoglerne, og de polymere dele af stiften og borespidsen, I der rager ud forbi knogleoverfladen, fjernes. Denne procedure med benstiften I ifølge opfindelsen overvinder fuldstændig problemerne med forrykning af I indstillingen af benfragmenter, idet stiften følger lige efter borespidsen igennem I 15 benet. I Fig. 1 illustrerer brugen af benstiften ifølge opfindelsen. Stiften anvendes til sammenholdning af dele af knoglen 10. Stiften 11 omfatter en polymer del 25 12, hvortil der er fastgjort en boredel 13. Boredelen har en borespids 14 og er I fastgjort til polymerdelen ved sammensmeltning, med klæbestof eller på anden I måde. * I Den foretrukne ikke-absorberbare polymer til polymerdelene af stiften er I polyethylen, og den foretrukne absorberbare polymer er polydioxanon som I 30 beskrevet i US patentskrift nr. 4 052 988.
Stiftens polymerdel er tilspidset med en spidsning på mellem 0,005-0,05 mm pr. mm-længde. Stiften 11 har generelt en længde på mellem 100-200 mm.
Stiftens polymerdel har en længde på omtrent 50-100 mm, og indretningens

skæredel har en længde på omkring 50-100 mm. Skæreindretningen er I
fastgjort til den ende af stiftens polymerdel, som har mindst diameter. I
Indretningens polymerdel kan fastgøres til skæredelen ved sammensmeltning H
eller til en forbindelsesstift ved at sammenkitte de to dele med epoxy eller I
5 andet hensigtsmæssigt forbindelsesmateriale eller ved en kombination af disse I
procedurer. Skæredelen kan være et stykke Kirschner-tråd, hvor der er boret et H
t hul i trådens bagende til at omslutte den absorberbare del af indretningen. I
Borespidsen 14 på indretningens skæredel kan bore gennem knoglen, når den I
bruges i kombination med et hult, kirurgisk bor. Under brugen af det hule, H
10 kirurgiske bor fastholdes stiftens skæredel af borepatronen, og stiftens H
polymerdel forløber ind i borets legeme til bagenden af patronen. Som vist på H
tegningen har indretningens absorberbare del en spidsning imellem ca. 0,005- H
0,05 mm pr. mm-længde. Spidsningen er forskellen i diameter pr. tusindedel af H
længden. Det bemærkes, at indretningens skæredei har en diameter, som er H
15 større end den mindste diameter af indretningens polymerdel, men ikke så stor H
som den største diameter af indretningens polymerdel. Stiftens tilspidsning H
tillader gradvis indtrykning af stiften i hullet boret gennem knoglen. H
Stiftdiameteren er til sidst lige så stor som eller større end hullet i knoglen og H
kan prespasses inden i knoglen for at fastholde stiften i knoglen. H
20 Efter stiften er på plads, bortskæres de dele af stiften, som rager uden H
for knoglen som vist i fig. 3 med en skalpel eller andet egnet skæreværktøj, så H
stiften flugter med knogleoverfladen. H

Claims (5)

1. Benstift (11) omfattende en implanterbar stift med en i hovedsagen I cylindrisk del (12) og en skærende del (13), der er fastgjort til den ene ende af I 5 den i hovedsagen cylindriske del, kendetegnet ved, at den cylindriske del (12) I er fremstillet af et polymermateriale og har en tilspidsning på mellem 0,005 og 0,05 mm pr. mm-længde, idet den skærende del (13) er fastgjort til den ende af , polymerdelen (12), hvor stiften har den mindste diameter.
