Abstract

The invention relates to an industrial packaging method for the preservation and surface treatment of foodstuffs, in particular sausage meat, using a film-type plastic material with elastic properties, whereby said foodstuff, optionally at the semi-finished product stage, is enveloped and sealed in the plastic material. According to the invention, an assembly consisting of several interspaced filling tubes, preferably running parallel on a plane and having identical or different cross-sections, is connected on the filling inlet side to a foodstuff supply device, the film-type material being supplied continuously or intermittently on both sides of the filling tube plane. The supplied film material is then joined between the filling tubes at the edges, tightly surrounding and sealing the outer periphery of said areas. A transverse sealed seam is created prior to the first filling operation. In the filling operation used, the foodstuff is pressed into the space between the film, whereby the elastic film material and the control of the speed of the film in relation to the filling tube outlet permit the generation of a counter-pressure enabling the air-tight packaging of the foodstuff. To complete the respective filling step, an additional transverse sealed seam is created, based on the packaging size and/or the filled quantity and a new filling step commences.
