Den foreliggende opfindelse angår en fremgangsmåde til fremstilling af mørkegrå til sorte dæklag med ensartet farvetone pa formlegemer bestående af zink-kobber-titan-legeringer, især plader og bånd fremstillet til valsning.
5 Under normale atmosfæriske betingelser danner der sig på overfladerne af formlegemer bestående af zink eller zinklegeringer beskyttende dæklag af basisk zinkcarbonat. Dannelsen af disse dæklag varer oa. tre dage i en atmosfære med en relativ luftfugtighed på 75%. Disse dæklag har af-10 hængigt af den legeringsmæssige sammensætning, den stedlige beliggenhed samt atmosfæren og tiden en lysegrå til mørkegrå farvetone. Dannelsen af sådanne dæklag hæmmes eller forhindres imidlertid af indholdet af forureninger i luften, f.eks. af svovldioxid.
15 Af æstetiske grunde er det derfor i mange tilfælde nødvendigt med en overfladebehandling. De tekniske fordele ved en sådan behandling består i , at dæklagsdannelsen gøres ensartet. Ved overfladebehandling kan der opnås en ensartet farvevirkning, der af æstetiske grunde ofte er sær-20 deles ønskelig.
Som fremgangsmåde til kemisk passivering af overflader bestående af zink eller zinklegeringer anvendes der foruden den galvaniske overfladebehandling i relativt stort omfang chromatering og phosphatering. Ved chromatering 25 behandles de rensede og forbehandlede overflader med fortyndet chromsyre eller chromatopløsninger. Til disse opløsninger sættes der bestemte mængder uorganiske syrer eller salte til opnåelse af bestemte farvetoner og lagtykkelser. De således behandlede overflader udviser farve-30 toner fra svagt gul til olivenbrun. Dæklagene bestående af chromhydroxyd og basisk chrom-(III)-chromat har en tykkelse på <1 pm til ca. 5 pm.
Phosphateringen kan efter tilsvarende forbehandling gennemføres ved en phosphorsyrebejdse- eller -lagdannende 35 phosphateringsmetode. Phosphatovertrækkenes lagtykkelse varierer sædvanligvis mellem 2 og 15 pm. De førnævnte

fremgangsmåder er, betinget af de forholdsvis talrige fremgangsmådetrin, forbundet med betydelige omkostninger.
En yderligere ulempe består deri, at de chromaterede eller phosphaterede halvfabrikata ikke kan loddes uden en tilsva-5 rende forbehandling, således at f.eks. forarbejdningen af zinkplader inden for byggeindustrien er betydeligt vanskeliggjort.
Ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse er der tilvejebragt en fremgangsmåde af den i indledningen nævnte art, 10 hvilken fremgangsmåde er ejendommelig ved, at formlegemerne behandles i en opløsning bestående af 60-90 volumenprocent vand, 10-40 volumenprocent salpetersyre og 5-10 volumenprocent svovlsyre.
Afhængigt af den ønskede farvetoning er formlegemernes 15 gennemløbshastighed gennem behandlingsbadet 0,5-50 m/min., fortrinsvis 0,5-30 m/min.
Hvis de formlegemer, der skal behandles, endnu udviser urenheder, er det nødvendigt at affedte dem før bejdsningen og eventuelt skylle og børste dem.
20 Ved den praktiske gennemførelse af fremgangsmåden ifølge opfindelsen trækkes f.eks. et valset bånd af en zink-kobber-titan-legering med sammensætningen 0,14 vægt-% kobber, 0,13 vægt-% titan, 0,01 vægt-% aluminium og resten finzink, med en tykkelse på 0,72 mm med en hastighed på 8 m/min. gen-25 nem et behandlingsbad bestående af 85 volumenprocent vand, 10 volumenprocent salpetersyre og 5 volumenprocent svovlsyre, hvorefter det skylles, børstes og tørres. Efter denne behandling er båndets overflade farvet mørkegrå til sort.
De ved den foreliggende opfindelse opnåede fordele 30 består deri, at det med relativt enkle midler lykkes at overfladebehandle formlegemer bestående af zink eller zinklegeringer, uden at man behøver at vente på den ved langtidsindvirkning af atmosfæriske påvirkninger forårsagede lysegrå til mørkegrå farvning af overfladen. Denne fordel imø-35 dekommer især den af æstetiske grunde forårsagede stræben efter en ensartet farvning, f.eks. af plader, der anvendes inden
